All too often, teachers are faced with the difficult task of diagnosing learning disabilities in their students. They need a solid reference for identifying and addressing the individual needs of the students in their classrooms. This book focuses on both characteristics of students with learning disabilities as well as classroom tested instructional strategies. Written by an author with a great deal of classroom experience, topics medical aspects of learning disabilities; cognition and language; personality and social characteristics; learning; placement, services, and educational treatments; and much more! A new chapter on using technology in the classroom keeps this book far ahead of the competition.
This was an excellent book to study and keep on hand for reference. William Bender did a fabulous job in making this textbook easy to read, comprehend, and walk away with skill sets in your bag. I am also happy that this book goes over the history of how learning disabilities term was developed and how recognizing and addressing them has evolved over the years. All were done in authentic research that showed favourable results. Again, I feel better equipped with skillsets after studying this book.
