12 booksThe thought of writing a book never entered my mind until a friend mentioned she was writing a romance and belonged to the Maine Chapter of the Romance Writers of America. I accompanied her to a meeting, and I was hooked. Undaunted, to me, writing a book was simply stringing together sentences to form paragraphs, arranging the paragraphs into scenes, then placing the scenes into chapters. If I wrote enough chapters-viola, I had a book.
Little did I know!
Finally, nine books and seven years later I received "The Call" at 10:11 AM on October16th, 2002. The editor of Five Star wanted to discuss my book! The rest is history.
I live in a small town north of Portland, Maine with my husband, Dave. We have four grown children, four grandsons and two granddaughters. I operate an art studio in my home where I teach both children and adults. Many of my adult students have taken classes from me for years and have become great friends. We have so much fun in class, at times, I wonder whether I should be paying them. I hope they don't read this bio.
I'm an established Maine artist. My paintings are in private collections across the United States. When I'm not writing or painting, I'd like to say I'm either racking up miles on my exercise bike or jogging in a marathon-sounds impressive, but don't believe it. I know that exercise is good for me, but why can't it be as much fun as it looks on the television infomercials that persuade us to buy their torturous machines?
I enjoy spending time with my family at our camp on a small Maine pond or watching television-I confess I'm a reality show addict-what better place to find characters for my books!
I've been married for over thirty-five years to my real-life hero, a man who's supported and encouraged me over the years and still puts a smile on my face.

Romance with a touch of mystery
Nicely written and edited . Gevin , Julie ' s brother from book 1 stars in this story . Emily, a barista from Nashville sings at Julie and Matt ' s wedding when the original artist has laryngitis . That night the Braxton sword is also stolen from the Braxton Community Center , the location of the wedding . That's number 1. Then the town is plagued by a graffiti artist . Number 2. Then Harley , the florist and singer starts acting weird . Number 3. Other situations are interspersed . Christian clean, but nicely done .

More Than a Mystery
The Braxton community welcomes the daughter of a beloved citizen as she comes to town to be with her mother after the unexpected death of her father. A busy career in real estate in NY has kept her from precious time with her parents. This is her first visit to Braxton, TN and the culture shock is added to the grief of losing her sweet father. It doesn't take long for an entangled mystery to unfold coupled with the unbelievable person of interest.
Diane Moody always offers more than a surprising end to her mysteries. She leaves her readers with valuable lessons and a desire to examine one's own faith. I look forward to reading another one of her special tales which, by the way, is fun, fun, fun to read. Great writing on so many fronts. Highly recommend.

After having read "The Demise" I was certain that I knew what "The Legacy" would be about. Although the tale included mystery and romance, it had nothing to do with what I expected. The introduction of new characters brought a refreshing twist to the tale of life in small town Braxton, TN. Including Tennessee's beloved Andrew Jackson added an intriguing element to the story-line. As usual, Moody's creativity shines in her ability to bring characters to life!

I was not expecting a religious book
When I downloaded this book it was based on the great cover and description. I was sorely disappointed in all the prayers, sermons and church related references. In addition to that, the book is loaded with things my editor would hauled off and bonked me for: winks, smiles, please, thank you’d — all those things that should never appear in the published book. There were so many winks! That said, it would have been a great little mystery!

My new favorite author
I believe I have now read all of Diane Moody's books, and I enjoyed every one of them. She kept me engaged in the stories and it has been difficult to put them down, when I needed to do so. I have always liked the use of the epilogue to close the story, but with The Legacy, I feel as though there is more to come... I will look forward to the next Braxton book!

Far too long. Decent story just too many other details and little stories that were irrelevant to the whole making it longer than it needed it to be to keep this reader wanting to return to it every night.
This took me over a week and a half to complete which never happens.

Love this series!
Such a pleasure to read a good, clean, entertaining and keep-you-guessing mystery! The characters of the Parker family and the town of Braxton feel like good friends that you enjoy getting together with. Can’t wait to meet up with them again!

A good Christian read. Well paced.
A nicely crafted sequel and it leaves you satisfied but wanting more. Character development is strong and the introduction of new ones is seamless. Well done.

Sweet story
This was a sweet story about a guy with a tremendous amount of faith in God. It was a refreshing change from the usual book. I enjoyed it very much.

Almost as good as the first book in the Braxton Trilogy. I enjoy Diane Moody's style of writing.

Home again in Braxton
This book had some interesting characters, and a decent plot, but was a bit too romantic for a mystery in my estimation. It should appeal to romance readers

An excellent sequel...enjoyed the suspense of continuing story characters from "The Demise".... Diane's books are a quick read, easy to follow, but her endings are surprising....

The plot was good but there wasn’t as much action as the last book. Need something to “keep me on my toes.”

This was an excellent second book to the series. It had mystery, intrigue, suspense, drama, laughter and sadness all in one place. It was a great book.

Blessings not to hear negative
I listen while I see and I enjoy good writing and the sensitivity to what her readers hear. It keeps my mind focused. Thank.

Disappointed
I was looking forward to this book after the good reviews, but from a Christian perspective, I'm disappointed. I reached 36% and stopped after a conversation between the parents of a main character and the main characters (with one a non-believer) following church. The mother is very happy with the new handsome preacher that doesn't have more hair coming out of his nose than on his head like their retired preacher, followed by howls of laughter. How disrespectful! Before that, the story drops a lot of movie star names, popular singers and talks of Broadway shows in conversations between Christians. Too much emphasis on worldly things. A Christian main character is also dating a non-believer. There is a lot of history to wade through as well. I won't be reading more of this author's books.

Good story
Good read I could relate with some of the characters to. Gavin and Emly did not seem like the ideal couple Atfjirst they reltionshipsortof grew on you.

This book was excruciatingly predictable as far as the romance went, and the author didn't let us get to know the peripheral characters well enough to really get involved in the who-done-it aspect of the story. I ended up just scanning the first sentences of paragraphs just to get to the end of the story. The fluff in-between just felt like it began to really waste my time. This was one of those stories that could have been told in one chapter, and you were aware that things were being stretched out just to make a book out of it. Plus, why is it in these types of western romances that even fallen women must somehow be virginal? Ugh. One of these days, someone will write one of these and give us a shy woman who actually knew she liked sex when she met Mr. Right lol.

2nd book in the Braxton series. I love it! Funny, warm, engaging, but with mystery and mayhem. Look forward to the next one in the series.
