Isaac and Shuro are the products of a monstrous genetic-engineering experiment. Dr. Mine Kujyou, a scientist researching this dangerous subject, knows that they were created with the superhuman ability to control people’s minds, and that Isaac has been using his powers to commit a series of strange and brutal murders. But the brilliant doctor’s analytical skills are truly being tested, for Mine cannot understand why Shuro, Isaac’s clone, has promised to help her save humankind from Isaac. All she knows is that Shuro’s anger is pushing him towards a showdown with Isaac that only one of them can survive.

More information about the laboratory where Akiba and Isaac were created and their escape. It is mind-boggling to me, but probably realistic, that the scientists not only ignored the ethical aspects of what they were doing to human beings but then were indignant when the experimental subjects used violence to save their own lives. Sadly, I think that is indeed how hypocritical and self-serving many people are. Yet the ES are the evil ones in the story. Is a psychopath merely someone who doesn't bother lying to himself about the harm he's doing?
Whoa.... Shuro looks pretty sexy on the cover of this volume.
I am totally getting suck into this series!! I love that the art is so simple that I'm allowed to get lost in the story and suck it all in rather quickly because the art doesn't require much work to look at. You see it and you don't need to see anything else. The sound effects are not necessary because you get everything you need to from the simple art. I really appreciate that. Especially cuz I'm consuming these volumes like they were jellied donuts!
Shuro has really grown on me, and even Mine is as well. I thought for sure I'd want to punch her lights out through the whole thing, but I'm starting to appreciate her characters.
This series continues to be good - really, really tough, but good. The plot continues to surprise me, and the characters seem real and complex. It is especially interesting to watch Shoru and Kujyou get closer, and more of their philosophy of living (much of it immediately countered by the plot) comes out. They are set up for a change in thinking and experiencing the world, which has been building for four volumes. We haven't hit the climax, but it's coming up soon!
Now, this is what I have been waiting for. We finally get to learn what really happened at the lab when Akiba escaped way back in ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 1. Of course, back then we knew nothing about Isaac, or that he even existed. What we need to learn about is all of the powers that Akiba has. Then I will finally be satisfied. ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 4 is another excellent book in an interesting series.
What I like about ES is that it is a continuing soap opera, but with a lot of blood. And I really liked that Akiba finally went after Isaac. That nasty little boy needs to be stopped before he kills everyone just because he can. How scary would it be if there really was someone out there that could reach inside your mind and persuade you to do whatever they wanted? Man, I would call that hella scary!
Once again, Fuyumi Soryo spins a web of intrigue and action as Akiba learns more about himself and his powers. This series is a dark one with a lot of ruthless killing and I like it.
Overall, I find that I really enjoy this series and ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 4 was one of the better books in this series. Now that the confrontation has occurred between Akiba and Isaac, I wonder what will happen in ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 5?
