[Siren Everlasting Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Fantasy Romance, M/M, demons]
Kane has finally found his mate. He is everything he could ever hope for. But when Snooke is repeatedly seen with bruises, Kane sees red. Snooke worships Kane. So when he fights to stay away from the warrior, it only makes Kane more determined to find him. Snooke has things in his past that he isn't proud of and fights desperately to keep Kane out of his screwed-up life. Meanwhile, the crystal is still missing, and someone is playing tricks on the warriors' minds. Can they find the crystal before the one who stole it learns its secrets, and can Kane save Snooke from a life he was never meant to lead?
Note: Each book in Lynn Hagen's Demon Warriors collection features a different romantic couple. Each title stands alone and can be read in any order. However, we recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
I enjoyed the story. Typical Lynn Hagen in plot and story line. Smaller mate in trouble and bigger mate is to help and protect him. It's a lite, fluffy read. My only problem was the editing. I usually don't complain unless it's distracting. In this case there was a name change in one of the later scenes. I was thrown because the character named was at another location. This is a big error and should have been corrected.
This second book in the Demon Warriors series focuses on the overall storyline and the mystery of who is behind the vanished crystal as well as all the other strange goings on. I liked learning more about the demon world, but missed the closeness to the characters that was so much fun in the first book.
Snooke has dark secrets - but we don't really find out what his problems are until the last third of the book (or I totally missed the details). This made it very hard to understand what was going on, and even though I felt for him, I couldn't connect to him. I also felt as if I was missing large parts of the story.
Kane is a very macho alpha demon, who discovers that he may have a weakness (read: love) for Snooke. In typical demon fashion he first denies his feelings, then doesn't know what to do with them. Luckily, he does get the memo in the end and comes through for Snooke and himself.
If you like stories about badass demons and their somewhat smaller mates who need protection because they constantly get into trouble, you will probably like this book.
2.5 - 3 This one is hard to rate really. While I like her series and this series, And I liked Snooke and Kabe, there is just WAY too many things left hanging. I can understand some story-lines to go from book to book, but this one it felt like we are left with more and more question. The relationship kinda get a little lost within all the drama that is happening without any resolve. Some cliff hangers are good, too many are just irritating and ruins it. imo. and now the questions spill into Brac Pack and probably the other also, it's just too much, It would be nice to have some of the questions answered and some problems fixed, before there are more added.
Oh man, how I wish I could get the few days back that I spent reading this book. Hondo's book was a 5 next to this book. I did not connect with either of these characters. Snooke made me want to carve my eyes out with a rusty spoon. Kane was a better character in Hondo's book. The less I read about him, the better. Sorry, these two were not for me
Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each): Brac Pack Christian's Coven Zeus's Pack Demon Warriors The Exiled
These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.
One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order): Brac Village Shadow Tribe BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids) The Remus Brothers Wolves of Desire
Plenty of inconsistencies in this one, I'll name just one of the top of my head. In Hondo's book it was said how Kane can freeze time for twenty seconds every five minutes, yet in this book Kane does it back to back, repeatedly, because they needed to cut Snookie and he's a neutraliser. There are many of these kind of mistakes throughout the book. Also, did the author deliberately make the characters stupid to mislead us into misunderstanding the story and these "great mysteries"? Hopefully I'll come across an interesting book again in the Bracverse, and soon, because this series is on a serious downward spiral since Demon Warriors.
3 stars solely because Kane almost gave up on Snooke and took an offer from someone to do casual hook-up but in the end, Kane couldn't do it but still me not liking it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It started out disappointingly, but caught up somewhat later on. Just to get stupid again at the end, by way of throwing all those cliff-hangers in there and ruining the natural ending of the story. So yeah, I didn’t like it as much as the first volume, mostly because the characters appeared unfair and not too smart at times, and never mind the chronological inconsistencies. Panahasi at least rocked more than ever.
Honestly though? This is a series that should be read as one long story, and I hate that I only have the first three books. I blame the author, because this can be done better, i.e. without frustrating the reader.
I want Panahasi, heh. But next up is someone else. *shrug*
2012 Re-read Project:
I went and did it. I re-read all the connected series by Lynn Hagen, this time in order of publication date, as recommended, which sadly does not ensure actual chronologicality. That’s twenty-nine books of moderate length, spanning three series (with more to spin off).
I’ll put my thoughts in spoiler tags since I plan to paste this into the end of each review covered here. There are no actual spoilers, so feel free to read this for a general idea of the series.
In this one we learn more about the mystery of the stolen crystal and how it relates to Snooke and the strange way he's acting. Kane is unhappy with the actions of his mate and Ms. Hagen did a nice job expressing his frustration. There's a lot going on in the background here that are a result of the villain who remains unnamed until near the end of the story. There is a nice twist with an unexpected visit to the human world and the sudden addition to the cast with Dillon, who will be featured in the next release. I'm anxious to learn more about the power of this crystal and what the demon who has it plans to do. Hopefully we'll learn more soon. FYI---these books really need to be read in order.
typical lynn hagen serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical lynn hagen? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).
out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by : lynn hagen stormy glenn scarlett hyacinth carol lynne gabrielle evans
unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.
This book was quite disjointed at the end. It seemed that the author had several thoughts and didn't know how to work them into the story so just plopped them all at the end.
I did enjoy when Kane and Snooke came together. Kane is amusing and fun. After her finds out about Snooke's deception he's hurt but they move forward. Watching them fall in love is cute. I like how they laugh and enjoy being with each other.
On to the next Brac book. I wonder how these will all tie together.
I have to admit, as goofy as the plotline is in this series, it's still totally engaging and fun. The characters, mainly the demons, are way cool and the sex scenes are smokin'. I'm hooked.
