Soren is sent to the kingdom of Bocchar as a hostage to ensure that his country of Hoshran remains compliant. Determined never to trust any Boccharan, Soren's resolve is shaken when he meets the third prince of Bocchar, Eldin. Will he chose loyalty to country over love?

Typical fantasy setting and descriptions set the mood appropriately for the political prisoners and their counteractions. Sweet, steamy and just a tiny bit kinky romance between princes on opposite sides of divide. Not harsh or abrasive considering the setup , but the story is fun and the characters quite fun and lovable for the most part.
4 ½ stars. Ok read, got a little too much in the middle. Would have liked to see a slightly different ending though. I would recommend to others who like light fantasy!
Sadly i realise after reading this story now, why i did dnf it previously and its highly due to one of the mcs. Along with the last few chapters which annoyed me so much, while Soren is the hostage i surprisingly actually felt for Eldin so much more.
Eldin was constantly in the dark to events surrounding him and while he was falling in love, Soren just seemed to use him for the majority while plotting his escape. Which is understandable, but i hated how it impacted so heavily on Eldin and that Soren didn't consider his feelings at all.
Also it seemed very hypocritical of him in the last few chapters for Soren then to do what was done to him to Eldin. I hated it so much! Eldin is not the cause of the issues, his foolish true and could try harder - but in general he just seemed to have no idea of the politics compared to Soren.
Which made sense with Eldin being the youngest prince, while Soren is the only of his kingdom. So they almost seemed to have such a huge gap in knowledge and Eldin fell so quickly in his admiration for Soren, that he didn't consider anything else but love.
There are aspects i enjoyed such as the writing itself which is gripping and the world building is stunning, the steamy scenes are great too despite my dislike of their relationship. I did enjoy their first meeting, the songs and the dances - playing in the snow and the small moments.
However the romance was destroyed for me and my hatred for Soren ruined it, but that was just how i saw events. It is a quick, exciting and entertaining read for the most part. Just didn't work for me in the end. Those last few chapters made me rage.

3.5 stars I loved the main characters and how they interacted. The cover is a bit misleading. The sexy dark guy in chains is actually the more experience seducer, while the blond is inocent youngest prince of the kingdom that took him hostage. I liked it more than Sacrifice. It even seemed to have more sex scenes (that were more intense). That is partially explained by the fact that the men actually had feelings for each other and plenty of time to act on them.
I didn't expect what this book really offered me, the cover and synopsis were really misleading in the kind of story that took place in the book, so, I'm very grateful that I gave it a try and was awfully mistaken about the kind of plot and situations that developed around the princes, in conclusion was a refreshing read
Another intriguing story set in the land of long long ago lol.
I loved this story. It had romance and intrigue, princes and princesses, it had evil and corruption. I loved how the story unfolded, and the ending was extremely just.
More sex than I cared for in this story, but easy enough to skip over.
I couldn't put this one down it was well put together even the secondary characters built some type of emotion in me they weren't just paper people. There was no real "plot" but it was so well written that it didn't matter.
Soren & Eldin Took me forever to finish this book. The story is entertaining but too long for me. The characters were interesting. There is a feeling of staying on the surface of it all at the end which explains my lack of interest sometimes...
