Serelda -- Watching my sister find the love of her life has been bittersweet. As much as I’m happy for her, I’m heartsick because I can’t have the man I want. Brick is my rock. The wall between me and the rest of the world. He protects and comforts me. He’s everything I need. But he does it out of pity, feeling sorry for the poor, broken woman who sought refuge in his club. I have to find a way to prove to him I’m worth his time, and that I can be the woman worthy of the VP of Iron Tzars.

Brick -- The lovely woman whose name means warrior bewitched me from the first day I saw her. Serelda is scared and vulnerable. The timid sister. I know there is a thread of steel inside her, though. I see flashes of it when I’m least expecting it. So when she runs, though I’m disappointed, I’m not surprised. What catches me off guard is the moment she tases me. I might be a sick individual, but her show of aggression turns me on more than I ever thought possible. Now, I just have to figure out how to claim her without terrifying her. And how to keep her from being taken back to the very man who tormented her more than a decade ago.

Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers. Happy ending and no cheating, as always.

Erotic romance author by night, emergency room tech/clerk by day, Marteeka Karland works really hard to drive everyone in her life completely and totally nuts. She has been creating stories from her warped imagination since she was in the third grade. Her love of writing blossomed throughout her teenage years until it developed into the totally unorthodox and irreverent style her English teachers tried hard to rid her of.

Matters to Deal With

Marteeka Karland Iron Tzars MC bk 03 Brick

I love how Serelda puts Xander "Brick" Scott in his place several times, even with a little voltage assistance on at least one occasion. Despite the serious tone of much of this book, and it really does get dark (really icky dark), I laughed numerous times.

"Life is a series of choices. Sometimes you choose death whether you realize it at the time or not."
-- Serelda

Iris continues to prove she's the right woman for their president and is entirely entertaining! 🤣 I love her and the friendship she, Serelda, and Winter forge is perfection.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Umi Markkanen. I may want a male to accompany her occasionally, but she really does a wonderful job with her performances of the characters.

❤️❤️❤️/🔥🔥🔥
This is the third book in the iron tzars series and what a story this was. We knew the romance for Serelda and Brick was going to be epic.

Their chemistry was explosive and compelling. At times it was heartbreaking and sad for no one should have gone through what the sisters did! Serelda and Brick prevailed and found their love for one another it took trials and tribulations but they found it.

Marteeka’s books just get better with each one that comes out and you’re missing out if you don’t read them.

Brick and Serelda's story is gutwrenching and sad, beautiful and inspiring, emotional and compelling. Serelda, like her sister Winter is now finding herself with the Iron Tzars. She's fierce and determined and will never be a victim ever again. Brick finds his happily ever after in Serelda and though it took them a little to acknowledge their feelings for each other, when they finally do there's nothing that can tear them apart. Brick is an excellent addition to the Iron Tzars.

This is the first of Karland’s books for me, that I HAD to have due to the way its predecessor ended—so far all the others I’ve read wrapped up all neatly. If you’ve read ‘Roman’, you know what I mean—’Brick’ was basically mandatory reading for me at this point. 🙂

Hits a lot of tropes, tr!ggers and dark topics:

Heroine with a dark past.
Ex-con hero.
Insta-love.
Physically scarred FMC.
Club life / bikers.
Touch her and d!3.
Hacker (secondary character but I hope to read his book some day!!)
Mũrd3r missions.
Danger.
Vi0lence.
Cann!bal!sm (not shown, but discussed / threatened, etc.).

Overall, this was sweet, hot, fun and fast. 4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Honestly, this narrator has become one of my favorites, she’s doing an amazing job with several of this author’s works! 5 stars.

This was great. To finally see the timid sister come out of the shell, and not only become the strong warrior woman her man sees in her, but to show the strength of character needed to see the end of torment without giving in to hatred and revenge, which could taint her soul. And now that the Iron Tzars have the three women in position their strength and support for one another can only be a good thing. Fantastic story.

Cat’s Stats
MMC/FMC- Brick and Serelda
POV- 1st place dual
Genre- MC Romance
Heat- 🌋🌋🌋🌋 parts are named and foreplay is more like fiveplay.
Series? Y
Safety? Y, with caveats. There’s no cheating, but before they get together, Brick gets a lap dance from a club Ho-ho-ho while he’s drunk. There’s no S.A. but there is mention of past trafficking, mutilation, and S.A. HEA.
Speaking of triggers, others include: The Biker’s Trifecta (language, violence, explicit erotic content), Cannibalism.
Tropes- Damsel in Distress, Protective Hero, Requited Crush, Tattoo You, MINE, Run and Chase, Badsass Heroine (some review sites take an expansive view as to what constitutes profanity), Survivor Heroine, Cologne of Awesome.
Mewsings
What I liked- both the main characters were broken, but have survived and are made whole together. I liked the characters. I like seeing the club as family. And I always find it satisfying when an evil motherhugger gets taken out.
What I didn’t like- hopefully, none of my sites will ding me for writing motherhugger….
About the narration- Umi is terrific! She’s really good at making each voice distinct.
I received an advance review copy of this audiobook for free and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Brick is a big guy who falls hard for a small woman who needs to feel safe. And Brick is the man for the job. Serelda watched her sister, Winter, fall in love and she thinks she will never have what her sister has. She thinks Brick only sees her as some weak woman who he pities. Brick thinks that Serelda only wants him around for protection. Boy, are they both wrong!!! I loved Brick and Serelda’s story. Brick will do anything to keep Serelda safe from her past. Serelda hopes that she can trust Brick with her heart. Another awesome story from Marteeka Karland that will keep you saying, “Just one more chapter, just one more chapter.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️good book 3, glad that drama/threat is over..what a sicko, but a touch disappointing with ending (unless rest continues in next book??) as didn’t fully wrap things up just laid out the plan… 😶‍🌫️🚨spoilers🚨 AND FINALLY SOMEONE USES THEIR BRAINS and has the tires shot out, and the bad guys disabled (knees, legs, ankles, feet) so they can squeal like naughty little piggy’s before their end👍 Nice creativity with the personalized tattoos🩶

🧐questions: 1)with the “till death/no one leaves alive” rules…what happens to the ol’lady if the biker dies??? and their kids??? 2)wouldn’t the traitorous bikers know they’re being walked to their death/the killing room???

Be still my beating heart! Brick was more than I expected him to be and then some. His patience with Serelda and his kindness mixed with the gruffness made my heart pitter patter. Her insecurities were just that... hers! Brick proved that his love was unconditional. Serelda was perfect in his eyes and that is all that mattered. This a beautiful journey of growth, acceptance, moving forward and finding happiness amongst all the chaos. I absolutely adored Brick and Seralda. Phenomenal story! Cannot wait to see what comes next. Marteeka never ceases to amaze me.

Brick is book 3 in the Iron Tzars MC and this one did not disappoint. Brick was such a great character. He was a mixture of alpha and tenderness. The way he was with Serelda was so sweet and heartwarming. I loved that Brick accepted all that Serelda was and made her feel like she was all he needed. This story had suspense, drama, action and so much understanding and love. Marteeka draws us into her world and her characters become our friends and family. I look forward to the next in the series and highly recommend that you grab this book and lose yourself in all that is Brick and Serelda.

Serelda is the twin sister to Winter. The Iron Tzars took them under their care, after they escaped from a brutal and abusive situation. Serelda has a strong personality, and will not become a victim again. Brick is a big teddy bear of a guy, and a member of the Iron Tzars MC. Their story has some emotional moments, miscommunications, and assumptions. However, they get through it and have a HEA. The story is well written the characters are interesting and relatable. The narration is excellent. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I miss Brick already. What a fantastic man. His love and unending patience for Serelda just blew me away. Serelda and her twin sister, Winter, are two very strong women. What they were put through is mind boggling.
I think my enjoyment from this book was multiplied because of the excellent performance of the narrator. She has wonderful , believable voices for these characters. Male and female. She brings in all the feels. Nice work.

Brick & Serelda

Book 3 continues with Brick's story. Serelda has survived but not thrived but she sees Brick and craves more. Brick wants to protect her and more but thinks she will never see him the way he sees her. Then he does something stupid and she flees and he rescues her and refuses to let her fo again. This was a beautiful story of overcoming and thriving after the worst possible experience.

I am completely head over heels for the Iron Tzars and Brick is no exception. I love these two together. You read in the other books about their protective nature and their patience with those who need it! I highly recommend this read and all of the book in this series. You won't be disappointed!!

I enjoyed the narration of Umi Markkanen

Serelda has watched her sister, Winter, fall in love. She believes that will not be her and believes Brick only sees her as some weak woman who he pities. That is not what Brick thinks of Serelda. He may be a large man but Brick's hear is bigger. He wants protection her and love her.

Serelda and Brick have found comfort in each other but a misunderstanding lead to an action-packed book. I think this couple is fire and how they seemed to compliment and heal each other was great. There is a lot of action going on throughout this book which made it a quick listen as I had to know what happened! I’m truly enjoying this series!

I am a deranged!

I had often wondered about the twins, I am so glad to get their story, but I really wanted to read about the two who betrayed the club and their torture. Beautiful story of overcoming. I can’t wait for more of the Iron Tzars.

Serelda needs to find the happiness her sister has found with Roman. She was hoping it could be with Brick. When she takes off Brick chases after her. They both need answers from each other. Serena learns to be strong for her survival. The narrator did a great job.

I don't think there is anything that Marteeka could write that I couldn't find interesting and encompassing.

Brick and Serelda are perfect for each other. Serelda suffering insurmountable pain from a sadistic maniac and Brick was her protection. She described him perfect - "her wall" against every outside of them.

As always, Umi voice was perfect for Marteeka's MC books. I love her range and each voice is distinctive if you are listening.
