I'm an adult literacy director and a mom. Last year, I began conducting parenting workshops in our community, and they were a big hit! I think parenting and child development are critical components of adult education. Over 36 million Americans can't read, write, or do math above a third grade level. Many of these folks are parents. When I began looking for high interest, low level parenting books for one of my students, I couldn't find any! I decided, "What the heck? Let's just write a few," so, these are based on my parenting workshop and come in at about a fourth grade level. Readers who read at a lower level should do just fine with support from a reading partner or tutor. No matter how great we are as parents, there are always new and exciting things to learn. This book, number two in the hi-lo parenting series, explores the first year of life. It covers the fourth trimester, feeding, car seat and sleep safety, and early learning.I hope you and your students will benefit from this book. All proceeds go to the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project, our nonprofit teaching folks to read and write in rural Arkansas.Thank you!Morgan Reed
