Served its purpose for a dummy reading it. However, not terribly comprehensive. Barely scales the surface, but in simple language.

"Eating right is the key to reducing your hypoglycemia symptoms and possibly even eliminating them all together."

This book is a helpful guide to a hypoglycemic diet.

It starts at a basic level and explains the way sugar works in the body and how to handle hypoglycemia. While not all of the advice in this book is practical (like sugar test strips for restaurants) and some sections are rather vague, they offer a lot of resources and guidance to reducing carbs and sugar in your day to day life. There is also an emphasis on herbs and Chinese medicine compared to other approaches to hypoglycemia.

It's a good overall look at what hypoglycemia is and the information is shared in an easy to read and understand way. How to use this information practically is up to you.

Ok, obviously you're only going to be interested in this book if you suspect you have hypoglycemia or know someone who does. So, assuming that's the case, you won't find a more interesting, practical, and concise overview of just about everything there is to know about low blood sugar. I picked up this book thinking I already knew everything there was to know about hypoglycemia, having had it since I was a teenager, but I learned several key issues that have helped me tremendously in managing my health. The "Dummies" format is great for short attention spans, too, with lots of tips and sidebars to break up the chapters, and helpful reviews of key points.

this came into my life via staying at my sisters' on vacation almost a couple years ago. it was then that i found out i have several immediate family members who are hypoglycemic and once i read the book, things started making more sense about why my body acts the way it does. following the suggestions in this about stabilizing blood sugar levels throughout the day with adding a protein at every meal, i was able to ward off most of my morning sickness when i was pregnant with andrew. plus, now i'm able to recognize cues from myself about when it's time to eat again without getting all my symptoms full blown.

Pretty good book on the subject. Contained a lot of useful information delivered in a lighthearted, yet serious manner. Confirmed a lot of things I knew from other readings as well as confirmed things I'd gleaned due to my own experiences. I appreciated how this book covered a lot of different healing modalities including alternate healing such as EFT. Good emphasis on relaxation, meditation, talking to your workmates and family about your condition and finding support groups. I'll definitely be recommending this book to my Insulin Resistant friends.

This book contains all the information you need to know on hypoglycemia, it is in nice easy chunks and contains some information on other conditions such as hypothyroidism, and other hypo conditions. It is easy to understand and gives you information on what to eat and what to avoid, as well as some information on portion size too.

A decent presentation of the information you'd expect to find here on hypoglycemia in the usual For Dummies format - basic info on what causes the condition, and various ways of dealing with it. There's a bit of an alternative medicine slant to it, but as the author acknowledges, that's not surprising since this is a condition that mainstream medicine doesn't always acknowledge exists.

So it's not exactly something anyone would pick up, but it was informative, practical, and added in a good dose of humor, which in this case was much better than chocolate.

So far, this book does not suck. But it does not rock, either. I do not have this condition, but my gf does. Just so you know.
