Once Jilted by Ciara Gold (Historical)
Once Jilted is part of the Orphan Train Series released by Champagne Books, and one you must read. Heroine, Shauna Joyce, knows the pain of growing up without a loving family. Her days are spent toiling for a well-to-family of snobs who treat her with the least amount of respect. When the Orphan Train passes through town, Shauna witnesses their shameful treatment of a special-needs child and becomes determined to save the young one from a fate similar to her own.
With only three weeks before the train returns, Shauna is hell-bent to find a husband. She’s already been jilted once, but a youngster’s fate is far more important than Shauna’s injured ego. Irish bridge-builder, Kane McKenna has no idea the trouble he’s about to encounter. If he thinks the beams for his bridge are strong, wait until he meets up with Shauna’s determination.
Kudos to Ciara Gold. I had the privilege of being part of her critique group and was deeply honored when she mentioned me in the dedication. Although I read through each chapter, it was even more exciting to read the entire book all over again, and in one setting. I couldn’t put it down. Once Jilted by Ciara Gold is a really special and heart-warming read. I first got this book on my kindle after reading a few of Ciara Gold’s other books, and a few years later I got it in paperback because it became one of my favourite books to read.

I loved the characters in this story and the heroine's determinatin to help another child like herself warmed the cockles of my heart.
