While this definitely wasn't my favorite, I'm glad I picked it up despite my misgivings with volume 1, as this volume was much, much better! There are more stories and many of them are pretty creative — or, at the least, fun. I wouldn't say I'll be recommending this one very highly, but it was a decent way to pass a little time.

I picked up this incoherent piece of garbage from Comic-Con, and I can't believe John Carpenter put his seal of approval on it, since it's horrendous. Every last story in here is just plain terrible. I can write better than this. In fact, I HAVE written better than this on several occasions. The key problem here is that many of the stories are hard to follow. I've never read a comic before where I genuinely had no idea what was going on from one panel to the next. The stories are simplistic, but dumb, and they don't hold any interest or value. But what really stinks is that the art work isn't half bad. It's the writing that's deplorable. They were obviously trying to go for the whole EC comics vibe, but they failed completely with the overall execution. What a steaming pile of crap this is. Don't read this.

I think this volume was slightly better than Volume 1, but it also had more stories so maybe that was why. Pretty good collection of short horror stories. The art was good to very good and the stories varied. If you like horror anthology comics you'd probably like this one.

Traveler's Tale
This was cool; the set up of the cursed McGuffin drew my interest. I like the map location being the pivotal information as the cursed head leads him to his doom. I liked that the tourist becomes buddies with the head. 3/5

Carn-Evil Max
I biniged the entirety of Tales from the Crypt at some point, and the wanton gore in this reminded me of that. Artiwork as done well; the paneling can be messed up in this type of set up. But the artists did a good job. I liked the gory set ups, and now, knowing why everybody was obeying the gameshow host, I laugh at it. What a sadistic child ;)
3/5

Posse
Pretty looking comic. In this small set up, there are too many characters set up. It's a tiny horror vignette about horse-riders who got stuck in a time loop with zombies. Not substantial, but I enjoyed the art.
4/5

Finger
This story I wholeheartedly liked. A finger that grows into a Goblin that gets "revenge" for you, and you're a blabbermouth loser that complains about everyone. Well, at least the ex wife deserved it. It's good.
5/5

Patterns
Not a bad set up, the wild child grows up to be a politician who isn't taken seriously. They go ahead with the mall plans, the trees go ahead with their killings. It didn't really make me feel the dread of a night where everybody dies. I liked that opening, though.
4/5

Basement
Classic: a haunted house with people in the walls. A good amount of twists to the hidden compartments and dungeons in the house. I liked the hero story of how the main character gets saved. I liked the dialogue between the husband and wife. I liked the cyclous ending.
5/5

So Happy
There is a circular art style at use here. It reminds me of the old Teletoon shows. The colors are well chosen, and the artist gives us the Chuck-e-Cheese factory setting shots often. Pipes and statues of the mascot everywhere, big facilities of kids being hypnotized. I like the ending, too, with the inevitable conversion of the main kid with a twist.
3/5

Just Stories
Black and white, very pretty art. The story was a slog, though. i understand it's a serious action scene of a shootout in a snowy enclave. The dialogue is not hitting me quite right for something that's a one-shot short. Perhaps I'm not the right audience.
3/5

Hands Free
She has a hand she wants to sell, but it's cursed, so it possesses her and makes her drive back. This is the whole story, and it's not compelling. I like the art, but it's just shots of the inside of a car. Not exactly a harrowing tale, not an adventure, either.
1/5

Til Death
A tale of a guy hwo killed his wife, got laid, then shenanigans happen. The art is perfectly 90s.

Another reviewer said some of the stories were confusing and I'll have to agree with him! It wasn't always apparent what was happening because the action wasn't spelled out and the graphics were just so dark and indecipherable that I had no idea how some of them ended. Did she die or did she turn the car around and return? Oh well, guess it really doesn't matter. And it felt like too many of the stories were just obvious, celebrating gore for the sake of gore. None of them surprised or delighted me. I would have liked a little more subtlety, more nuance in my adult graphic novels. Maybe that's why I don't read too many graphic novels?

Another excellent anthology of horror!

I rather love the Groundscreeper! I also like how he separates the stories, and I get a little thrill of anticipation before I turn the page to see what style of artwork I will be treated to in the next story.

My favorite in this edition was the bounty hunter in the snowy mountains.

Volume 2 of this anthology Horror series offers twice as many stories as the first volume. Like Volume 1, this book starts out with a John Carpenter penned story, this time The Traveler's Tale. It treads familiar ground but it works on all levels. All of the writers seem to channel Carpenter's style, which is fine by me.

Carn-Evil Max And The Traveling Beauty Show doesn't work as far as I'm concerned. It's the weak link in the book. The set up isn't firmly established and the Twilight Zone style riff for the ending falls flat. Patterns and The Basement are both great stories with solid artwork. Mr. Goodnight takes the cake. Jaime Carillo and colorist Kinsun Loh knocked that one out of the park.

The series host, the Groundscreeper, remains a series highlight. You'll have to look to find this book but it's worth it.

Better stories than 1 but stories kind of drop in quality toward the last third. The artwork was generally good but could be really incoherent maybe it's due to the story not being clear to the artist, i don't know how the process works.

12 tales of terror, some better than others. Most pretty great. I did skip the interstitials. It's the same art page with a little lead in that takes too long to read and doesn't really add anything to the story. This collection is definitely graphic and meant for adults.

Es un comic con historias y estilos de dibujo muy variados. Sin embargo hay muchas historias que las veo más para ser contadas en un cortometraje que en papel. Ni la pantalla lo soporta todo ni el papel tampoco.

4.0 Much better than the 1st one. The stories were mostly well drawn and written. Great fun for this time of year!

I liked volume 1 but this was just more my jam—more stories and more cohesive.
