Late one cool Scottish night, Aliss is called to the bedside of an ailing cleric. Suddenly, her hands are tied and she is slung over a shoulder, kidnapped by Rogan of the Wolf clan!
Aliss's skill as a healer is legendary, and Rogan needs her talents to save his people. But the last thing he expected was this bewitching lass who dares to stand so defiantly before him.
Aliss refuses to do his bidding ... until he swears to return her home once her task is complete. Yet each blissful moment in her presence merely intensifies his desire, and Rogan soon becomes the captive in their game of seduction.
But when she finally learns the real reason for her capture, will he be able to prove to her that his heart is true, or will their love be stolen forever?
3.5 stars Aliss and Rogan. In this one -the twins do not switch places like the first of the series. Instead, Aliss-the healer -is abducted to help heal a lot of people in his clan who has been coming down with a mysterious illness. Rogan, lost his first wife and child two years ago something went wrong during the birthing. As he falls in love with Aliss he ponders a lot about his first wife. Since he loved her so he feels comforted that his first wife gave him permission and expected him to find love again. Rogan is not fully truthful with Aliss and this causes Aliss to question their love and demand that he proves it. Go Aliss! A very sweet hea for them, her twin, and clans members/family.

This started off as a cute enough story. The writing was very very easy to read, almost too easy. It struck me as very elementary writing actually. The hero was a super alpha, big scary wolf clan leader at the start of the story. But then once he has kidnapped the heroine and they return to his island (so she can heal his sick clan members) he turns into a big soft teddy bear that has fallen in love with the heroine before page 100. There seemed to be no romantic tension really to overcome. I love to watch characters take time overcoming obstacles and falling in love, insta-love seems to kill my interest in stories. :(
Another great read by this author. I especially enjoyed the heroine,Aliss, and how she tamed a man who was formerly thought to be cruel and dangerous. She had the guts to stand up to him and this was something I admired in her. She also had compassion which I feel is important for any woman.
Aliss MacElder finds herself bound, gagged, and tossed over a giant's shoulder one night, hauled off to the Wolf Clan, where a healer is needed. There's a mysterious illness affecting about half of the clan; just when they start getting better, it recurs. The leader of the clan, Rogan, has promised to return her to her home once she cures his people.
Naturally, the two of them fall in love. A decent medical mystery, betrayals, and a fairly easy-to-solve history mystery having to do with an island lots of people seem to want ensue. And the word usage in this one is pretty much devoid of weirdness—new editor? 4 stars.
It had me, it had me, it had me...aaaand then it lost me.
Essentially, Aliss is kept true to character for about half of the book, but then as soon as a hiccup in her relationship with Rogan (and, granted, it's a pretty major one, but STILL), she basically turns into just a more crybaby version of Fiona--
--aaaaand there goes my interest. -_-
I think that it's maybe a hit-or-miss relationship that I have with this author, wherein I loved Dark Warrior and the Cree x Dawn romances, but then other works have been kind of a miss for me. I will still continue reading more from this author, of course, but for now I'm kind of left disappointed with this duology--mainly because of the heroines. Granted, I wouldn't say that Aliss is quite as contrary a heroine as Fiona, but she still seems to want the hero to move heaven and earth for her before she agrees to give in to her own heart and love him.
It...may be a compelling plot for some, but personally it just feels contrived and unnecessarily difficult (and high maintenance) for me, and therefore I don't see it as a future re-read, sorry.
It was okay. Didnt give me any feels. Felt too long and the h just kept going back and forth with the H. I liked that he was so devoted.
Also this book lowkey made me hate Tarr. His actions and words towards Rogan when he found out they were half brothers were cruel and nasty. And there was no real resolution to that. It ended quite abruptly i would have liked and apology from tarr and maybe a short epilogue.
Safety: Dual 3rd person pov 🔥🔥🔥ish not long or descriptive. ◇No OM drama ◇No OW drama but H had a wife but she passed away. He mentions her a few times but the h is never second to her or compared to her. ◇No cheating ◇No love triangle ◇H no manwhore celibate since wife passed, h virgin ◇id say both are in their late 20s early 30s ◇No Seperation ◇No contraception ◇HEA h is pregnant

Healer Aliss is kidnapped by the Wolf, Rogan, in order to heal his ill clan.
This is nothing like any 'kidnapping' book I've read. Aliss and Rogan fall in love in the first third of the book, get married, and then…nothing. Just two thirds of a book where Aliss has found out Rogan's true reason for kidnapping her and thus refuses to believe Rogan really loves her. Repeat. To make matters worse, there is no other suspense plot or villain, and the 'mysterious green eyes' are never really answered.
The plot is as archaic as the timeline it represents and the protagonists are as perfectly charming as we expect them to be. In truth, the story started off interesting...until it merely became a repetitive narrative of the male character’s broad naked chest or the female character’s voluptuous body or their cheesy love affair that began one day while they were breaking bread.
By the time the story ended with yet another mention of the characters' sexy bodies and their saccharine discourses, I actually marveled at myself for not cringing.
I loved this book more than the first one, for several reasons:
1. Aliss is the more level-headed and gentle twin, who has a nurturing and calming quality about her that is nice to read about (she’s a skilled healer, and very tenacious and diligent with her work. I admire good work ethics in my heroes and heroines.) 2. Rogan AKA The Wolf, is a cinnamon roll hero who is gentle and understanding, but also a bit desperate and possessive when it came to his feelings for Aliss. It makes for a good contradiction and mini-heart throbs.
Rogan abducted Aliss from her clan because he needed a healer who can treat his people who were suffering from a mysterious stomach illness that can sometimes be fatal. Aliss agrees to heal his clan, with the stipulation that he releases her once they are completely better. However, Rogan has more hidden motives and agendas that Aliss in unaware about, and when they fell in love, it brought about betrayal and anger on Aliss, which made Rogan grovel to win her love back.
Ahh. Definitely a good solid medieval romance read. The added twist at the end is nice. 4.5 stars.
I really liked book 1 in this 2 book series, but I loved this one. I really liked both of the leading characters - almost as much as Dawn & Cree! Excellent story and I will highly recommend to everyone I know - or not! ;~)
Wonderful writing , interesting story. I thought I wanted to be an author also, but I've decided after reading Donna fletcher's! books that no one can compare with her stories. Thank you so much for an exciting afternoon for me.
Safe. Sweet. I did not like her sister Fiona, she was loud, annoying and selfish. I do like how H redeem himself, it was a slow burn see how H courted h. Nothing like “H hurt h, H said sorry the quickly h forgave him and made off”, here h made H works hart to gain her forgiveness.
Book #2 in series, though this can be read as a stand-alone.
I loved this book. It is well written with a storyline that provides mystery with twists and turns. Strong characters combined with an intriguing story that made me read this book in one sitting.
3.5. Would’ve been better if it didn’t drag for the third quarter of the book. Too much back and forth on an obvious topic. Author could’ve had some additional plot point instead of wasting so many pages on inner conflict.
What a great story of alias and organ the wolf so different from tarr and Fiona her twin sister would highly recommend both books both stories are so unique and different very good author
Ok story. Not her best series but the humor was there. I don't have a lot of paience for switching twins so I sped read thru a lot of it. Some nice story twists with the characters.
I've read several Highland romance novels by Ms. Fletcher, and so far I've enjoyed them all...some more than others. The first book of hers that I read, Isle of Lies, remains, by far, my favorite. But, I also very much enjoyed her Return of the Rogue and Legendary Warrior (although I have to say that that last one is my least favorite so far.) BEWITCHING TWIN is the second book in the twin series. Book one in the series, The Daring Twin, is one that I never read.
In any event, in this book, twin sister Aliss a well-known healer, is kidnapped from her cottage by Rogan, Chief of the Wolf Clan. Purportedly, Rogan kidnaps Aliss so she can care for his people, many of whom are suffering--a few have died--of a mysterious illness. Aliss strikes a bargain with the intimidating, handsome Wolf leader, she will heal his people if he promises to then return her to her home. Rogan agrees and from there the story progresses.
I really loved the interaction between Aliss and Rogan. The two are very sweet together. Rogan is extremely supportive of Aliss' work as a healer and is always gentle and kind to her. Aliss is sweet, kind-hearted, with a quiet inner strength that flourishes once she is removed from the overshadowing presence of her twin (who is supposedly the "strong" sister.) Rogan is a widower, having lost his beloved wife. He is lonely and is very open to finding love again--unusual in a Highland hero. He finds himself drawn to Aliss, and eventually he falls in love with the quiet beauty, with the gentle hands. As for Aliss, she is immediately attracted to the handsome Chief, although she is at first a bit intimated by him. Nonetheless, Aliss never fails to stand up to Rogan and refuses to allow him to cow her. Soon she discovers that beneath his somewhat gruff exterior, beats a heart of gold. For readers who read "The Daring Twin" before reading this one, I think you will find that in this story, Aliss finally comes into her own, as she discovers her hidden strengths. If, like me, you've not as yet read THE DARING TWIN, not to worry, you will easily be able to follow the story in this book.
What I particularly loved about this book is that it encompasses a really sweet romance...this is absolutely no rush to love story! Instead, Rogan and Aliss actually do get to spend a significant amount of time together and get to know one another. Their relationship slowly, but surely develops into love. As the story develops, circumstances lead to Rogan and Aliss getting married. However, Rogan has another, ulterior motive for kidnapping Aliss, one which when uncovered, threatens the couple's newfound happiness. Rogan then finds that he has to prove his love to Aliss, and hope that she will be able to forgive his betrayal.
I really, really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it as a worthwhile read. FYI, this is not a clean romance. Although as is typical of Ms. Fletcher's books, the love scenes are beautifully written and do not involve the use of any crude language. Happy reading!
Rogan, a bucking young hunk is in need of a healer for his people. Said healer is the beautiful Aliss, a twin who is far to ambitious to think about love of marriage. Highly presued, she is a regular in refusing suitors. rogan however does not ask, he takes. Stealing her away and whisking her to is own lands she must heal his people before she is allowed to return home, question is when all is said and done will she want to?
of the two twins, although i love both of them, i do like fiona personality more than aliss. maybe i'm the kind of the 'tough girl' tribe, so, yeah, i support fiona. but hey, i also support aliss too ! just because people are not like me, i have no reason to not like them as long as they understand and respect each of us. therefore, i really can see the bond between the twins really well as they depend much on each other since they were small.
The book just never quite took off after the abduction. I was really excited to read this book after the first one and the plot looked like it would be a whole lot better. But it just kind of flat lined and every thing that you read was like 'oh, ok' instead of 'oh-my-goodnes'. So yeah, I liked it well enough but in the end it was just an ok read.
While the book was an easy read, it didn't light any fires for me. It was a whole lot of heal, heal, heal. I would like to have seen more to the heroines character than her devotion to healing. Ronan was ok, a little soft for my tastes. Not bad, not knock your socks off great either.
I stopped reading. Couldn't handle the stupid stubborn behavior and thinking. Smart women aren't like that. We have to make every decision count and in those days, even more so. So it's all fluff to expand the pages and add drama. I'm not having it. Great story line, poor execution.
Each member of our book club finds the cheesiest romance novel we can find for our February reading. The Bewitching Twin was my choice.
I laughed when I was supposed to swoon over the chieftain Rogan's love for his abducted and then later loved wife Aliss. Perfectly cheesy and dramatic.
