Derek Stillwater, bioterrorism expert for the Department of Homeland Security, already has his bags packed for vacation when he gets the "Sarin gas attack on a detroit restaurant. Fifty-two dead." The killer calls himself the Serpent and demands three million dollars. If he is not paid on time, more people will die.
Special Agent Jill Church is assigned to keep tabs on Stillwater. While the FBI brass are playing politics with the press, Stillwater and Church discover a disturbing link to a cult responsible for the sarin attacks on a Japanese subway.
Furious at Stillwater's unorthodox methods, the FBI demands his immediate arrest. Now suspended from the case, Church knows that she and Stillwater are the only ones who can stop the Serpent from releasing sarin gas at a concert. 21,000 lives are at stake–including her own son's.

Otherwise he spends his time with his wife and two sons in Michigan.
This book gives new meaning to the phrase 'action-packed'! It lets up just enough for you to catch your breath before a new plot twist sends the story racing on again.
What I really loved is that there is still plenty of character development. Stillwater is fully developed and the other main character, Church, is also three dimensional. I really liked her son's sidestory and I can see him becoming his own series when he gets a little older.
Excellent book and I'll definitely be looking up more of Mark Terry's works.
Started this the same day I finished the previous book in this series, and finished within 24 hours. Stillwater's character is very well developed, and is highly intriguing. This book delivered on the expectations of action and suspense left by The Devil's Pitchfork, and captures the reader's attention within the first chapter. I look forward to the next books in the series - no matter the price I'm confident they won't let me down!
A good book lot of action....second book in series I read the first and enjoyed it. Already bought the third book will read soon. Found this author (mark terry) in a article about up and coming thriller authors. Books are dirt cheap on the nook, i paid 2.99 for the first 2 and 1.99 for the third. Fourth novel in series just came out will be getting that one.
