A beautifully illustrated and written volume of 3 classics by Tasha Tudor. The first book, included in the Sampler is: A Tale For Easter, written in 1941 an enchanting story about a little girl and the woodland animals preparing for Easter morning. "if you have been especially good and done nearly everything you have been told, she will take you up, up over the misty moisty clouds, where the bluebirds dye their feathers, and the robins find the colour for their eggs.." The second story is: Pumpkin Moonshine, written in 1938. I believe this was Tasha Tudor's 1st book published. This is such an adorable story about a little girl who visits her grandparents in Connecticut. She wants to surprise her Grandmummy with a "Pumpkin Moonshine", a lighted jack-o-lantern and has an exciting adventure with a runaway pumpkin. The last and most charming is: The Dolls' Christmas, published 1941. As a child this story was magical. Two very old dolls lived with rwo little girls in an old red house. Sethany Ann the doll was French & very elegant. Nicey Melinda wasn't elegant but was full of character. She had the brightest blue eyes of glass & a nose worn down with generations of loving and scrubbing. The dolls house was named Pumpkin House.
a childrens book....typical Tasha Tudor illustrations and a gentle story line. I checked it out from the library to refersh myself about the illustrations and clothing styles.
