It's a good book, but a word of warning: Don't buy it if you're looking for pronunciation or basic words and phrases to help you learn the language. It's a book for people who have taken some form of a French class.
My French comprehension is basic at best. I took a full year of French in the seventh grade, and a semester in freshman year of high school. What French I do know is from those classes and the French movies I so enjoy losing myself in.
All in all, it's a great book, but it offers no way of knowing how to pronounce words, so it was a little difficult for me in parts.
As with most of the "... For Dummies" books, you need to have a basic knowledge of the subject. This would not help a complete novice, especially with pronunciation.
