Audiobook: I was entertained by this story. The first book focused on Spartan and his training, while I thought this book incorporated more of the machinations and behind the scenes incidents which were going on as the war became more intensive. I felt for Spartan when he was caught up in the action. I'm concerned where his new path will be taking him. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought Roberto Scarlato's narration was great, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
This book has most of the same technical and artistic flaws as the first book i. the series, and has the additional flaw of feeling very like an abridged story. The short length of the book leaves little room for exposition or explanation, but it benefits from pacing and being a quick read. This book is pretty mediocre, but I consider it a decent purchase since I like the genre.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire after fire after fire. Spartan keeps getting thrown into one unsurvivable predicament after another, barely surviving, just to get thrown into another with no break. I can't wait to see how he and his friends get out of this one
Great story. Some bad editing though. Reason I only gave this 3 stars is that the book gets to the climax and then ends, you have to buy the next book to see how this one finishes. It would have been better if this and the next one were combined.
Not a bad read once you forgive the grammar errors etc just a bit too short. Does make me wonder on the cost versus length of this type of publication medium.....
Enjoyable sci-fi military romp. Not going to blow your brains out (hah) with the plot, but if you want a read where the good guy kicks arse but takes some punishment on the way, this is for you!
