The Legacy Collection Book 1: Maid for the Billionaire Dominic Corisi knew instantly that Abigail Dartley was just the distraction he was looking for, especially since having her took a bit more persuading than he was used to. So when business forces him to fly to China, he decides to take her with him, but on his terms. No promises. No complications. Just sex.
Abby has always been the responsible one. She doesn't believe in taking risks; especially when it comes to men - until she meets Dominic. He's both infuriating and intoxicating, a heady combination. Their trip to China revives a long forgotten side of Abby, but also reveals a threat to bring down Dominic's company. With no time to explain her actions, Abby must either influence the outcome of his latest venture and save his company or accept her role as his mistress and leave his fate to chance. Does she love him enough to risk losing him for good?
Ruth Cardello hit the NYTs and USA Today for the first time back in 2012. Millions of sales are evidence that her books are akin to potato chips, addictive from the first one. She has created a multi-series billionaire world with a combination of escapism and realism that has gained her a faithful following of readers.
What Kindle Reviewers write about her:
"Wow hot at every page. Heart stoping, fear raging, mind blowing wonderful."
"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart wrenching, and I love them all. There isn't two alike in the bunch and I feel like i know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."
"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."
Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

A man's father dies, he meets his maid who isn't actually his maid, makes some cheap passes, blackmails her into accompanying him to the reading of his father's will, buys her clothes, has a tense showdown with his sister, jets off to Beijing with his not-maid, secures some super important contract with China, yells a lot, makes a lot of hasty accusations, shows off his sex god prowess, falls in love, asks the not-maid to marry him, jets off to his private island off the coast of Italy, finds his long-lost mother, and vows to set things right with his sister. All with the help of his Mary Sue not-maid, and all in about one week.
It started off well. An angry billionaire heads home to Boston to deal with the death of the father he hated. He enters his Brownstone that he never goes to and sees the maid. Though she is not really the maid, she is filling in for her sister who is sick. The angry billionaire lusts after the stand-in maid and the maid says, "ew creep, get off me" but secretly she is seriously attracted to him.
Angry billionaire offers to pay her to stay with him she says, "ew creep, no". He finds her anyway and asks her to come to China to comfort him while he signs off on the biggest contract of his life. Stand-in maid says, "okay". He realizes that she is good for him but won't admit that's it's not just physically. She knows she'll get hurt but can't help the feelings she has.
Once the deal is signed in China, with stand-in maid's help, things go downhill, in my opinion, from there.
It wrapped up too neatly and everyone was happy and it just was not good towards the end. Because I liked the premise of the story, I will give it a three. Could have been a four if the ending hadn't been swathed in so much pretty pink ribbons, unicorns and sparkles.
The plot was OK but slightly predictable. Two main characters were not quite relatable but likable enough. The pace was pretty fast. However, I was a bit confused with the drama near the end of this story. It wasn't what I expected and I think it was more frustrating than heartbreaking.
Overall, this was a satisfying and enjoyable read, nothing particularly exceptional though.
I'm actually very happy to have read this book!!! Yes, I know the plot is very common, a billionaire falling in love to a normal woman. But that is not the reason why I admire this story a lot.
This story made me laugh and be proud to be a woman.
I love, love, love Abby here. She is just a teacher but her personality is really big and she is I guess the most smart lead woman character I've ever met. (or read). lol!. She's full of love and positivity even though she's been through a lot. She may seem perfect, but being perfect sometimes what makes her so interesting.:)
At first I'm not sure about Dominic, he is the typical epitomy of a rich, arrogant guy with a dark past. But what is really nice is that, because of having Abby, he totally moved his world and personality upside down. He learned how to love and forgive.
The love scenes were perfectly made, its like they're really making love based on happiness and emotions, not just simple erotica.:)
The conversation and how each and every word on this story is really moving. The honesty and simplicity of what the author wants to provide to the readers is really very clear.
I know a lot of authors already wrote a lot of stories like this. But this is somewhat very different in my point of view. The author wrote this one beautifully and I'm already looking forward on reading the next book of the series!
Good JOB!!!
***UPDATE***
I was able to talk to Ms. Cardello on Facebook!!! I showed her my review!!! Already convincing her to be active on Goodreads...
So I was expecting a fairly ordinary book (cynical of me I know)
However I am impressed.
This book reads like a Mills and Boon or Harlequin book. I was really impressed because I have read worse mills and boon book and this is self published without the benefit of an editor and copy editor.
Ive read some reviews that crap on about it being 'not realistic' my answer to them is HELLO, Wakey Wakey - its a romance story about a maid and a billionaire.
Has anyone EVER heard of this happening in real life......no....because in real life a billionaire is not going to be interested in his maid and fall for her in 7 days.
But this book is a wonderful escape from reality....into a world where it is possible for an every day woman to get swept off her feet. She lives out a fantasy that we would all love to happen to us.
I simply enjoyed this book. I didnt try to analyse how impossible it was. I just let go for a few hours and really enjoyed myself.
There are freebies, and then there are "thank you Jesus I got this free". This story would be the latter. If it's not a Harlequin Presents, it should be! Filled the the ridiculous, the corny and the "Are you kidding me?!" moments that make you want to scream with laughter (and not in a good way), this was, just plain and simply, awful.
The book started really fine, a dominating and angry billionaire who become interested to his supposed maid. But from 50% of the book on it really went downhill with so many cliches!!! I could understand his interest for her, his invitation for the reading of his father will and even the trip to China. But suddenly it became to much!! Spoilers below:
I could have liked this book very much, but unfortunately the huge numbers of cliches kind of ruined what could have been a good story.
I took a risk and dove into this freebie blind. I actually was trying to read the oldest book on my kindle that I hadn't read yet. I was not only pleased, surprised and happy but I'm hooked.
This was exactly what I needed. With being on the more conservative side of steamy romance I simply like just love stories with depth and no other drama. No side elements that I don't read, no other people drama just good old fashioned steamy love story. Ruth gave me that and more. See took a sexy brooding hero and she brought him to his knees. A feisty school teacher shook this millionaire's foundation and proved that love and family is all that's important in the end. Dominic was my favorite type of hero.. Bossy, take charge and tender when it counted. So possessive he didn't want Abby out of his sight. Abby was brave, loyal and absolutely the perfect fit to this headstrong man. I absolutely am going to be binge reading. I need these type stories.. Maybe I'm getting older who knows but all the unnecessary and gross drama that even the side characters get involved in some of the newer books detract from my pleasure. I'm just a old fashioned girl who misses her mom's steamy books I used to sneak and devour. This just fit that bill perfectly.
Amore e Affari, secondo voi, possono andare a braccetto?

Oh dear, this started well but descended into nonsense at the half way point. It didn't recover.
The plot about how they meet and her involvement in his big Chinese deal was well plotted and involved me really well. Unfortunately it went downhill at the point where they started declaring their undying love for one another after spending less than a week together - and most of that time they were horizontal.
Sometimes insta love is plausible, sometimes it's not. This was a 'not' for me. The chemistry between them wasn't convincing and the smut was repetitive and a bit dull.
I've read other books involving an ordinary gal and a billionaire that I've enjoyed more so I can't really recommend this one. A pity when the plot and writing started so well.
"Maid for the Billionaire" is the love story of Dominic and Abby. On the day Dominic loses his father, he meets Abby cleaning his home. Instant attraction leads to him propositioning her, which she initially refuses- but later gives in. In a Cinderella-esque story, he whisks her away to China where she inadvertently tries to help his business by listening to a political lady Zhang- which then leads to mild understandings and a cheesy HEA with all ends tying together (except his sister Nicole, but I'm guessing that's another book). OTT sweet romance with insta attraction and average love scenes. It was very Harlequin-y and worth reading once. Safe 3.25/5
I love a woman who doesn’t take so grief from a man, especially a powerful and wealthy man. I didn’t really know what to think going in to this book, I went in blind like I like to. And I have to say kind of glad I did.
Dominic, a powerful man loses his father to death. He isn’t to heart broken about it but he doesn’t want to deal with the aftermath either. He isn’t a guy who takes no very well. Probably because he doesn’t get told it very much like at all. So right there Abby peaks his interest because she does say no and she says it in a big way.
When he sees Abby in his house cleaning, she was helping her sick sister so she wouldn’t lose her job. Sparks fly between the two. Only Abby doesn’t act like Dom expects. Abby who is used to taking care of everyone since her parents died, doesn’t let anyone steam roll her. I loved that she is a teacher though she has the tough yet soft way about her.
The push and pull with these characters is really neat to read about. I laughed and smiled so much in this book. Even the secondary characters pull you in. I want to know more about her sister Lily and Dom’s mom. Oh and Jake, he seems like an intriguing guys to say the least.
But the ending was kind of funny after they land…. Yeah I won’t give it away but It was another great read to get me out of the one book head space I was in. Fun feel good book this one is.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion and I am allowed to have it.*
I am sorry but I thought this book was AWFUL!!! Thank God, it was free! I struggled to finish it because I don't like to start books and not finish them. It was so far-fetched and the writing was so cheesy at times it made me fall out of my beach chair laughing. There were points when I felt like I would hurl-- when the heroine so happens to speak the language of the country they go to and single handily saves the man's company from ruin although he is supposedly a shrewd billionaire business man. And the all so powerful Asian woman who needs the help of a school teacher to work a business deal in her favor, get the f&*k out of town! I think I actually screamed with laughter at this point. Thank goodness it was a kindle download or else I would have hauled this piece shit into the Caribbean Sea.
My journey into the world of Ruth Cardello started four years ago. I got my first Kindle and was introduced to Abigail and Dominic and the rest of Legacy bunch all in one day. Have not looked back sense. I now own the whole Legacy Series and the first two books in the Andrades series. This author is a must read. Her message of love, family and friendship is the driving force behind every series from the Legacy Collection, to the Andrades, and the Barringtons. The message is clear. Whether by blood or by some other connection family begins in the heart and the heart always has tons of love to give. I'm a fan for life. This author is a must read. All of her books deliver funny and heartwarming stories.
Even though the start between Abby and Dominic was a bit of mistaken identity which Dominic thought that Abby was a maid but he should have had a better way of speaking her. the banter between them was funny and I would have definitely slapped him but as the time between them progress it was fun, sweet and then came the understanding of the attitude.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 New series for me , I started at the end so this is one series I should have begun with lol . Excellent book , loved Dom and Abby, and the way she keeps him controlled is great . More please x
I have really gotten lucky lately at finding new to me authors. I was intrigued by the title, and the book description sounded interesting. Since not only was this book FREE, it also had the audio version for $1.99. I downloaded it right away. I’m so glad I did. This is a great book.
Maid for a Billionaire starts out by introducing me to the hero, Dominic Corisi. He’s an angry, bitter man, feeling that his father has escaped the downfall Dom had planned for him. Although he is not shown in the best light, there was something about him that called to me, and I had to find out what made him such a hard man.
When he meets Abby, the heroine, he again does not show the best side of his personality, but I was compelled to read on. Now Abby Dartley is a sweetheart of a character from the first scene. She is the perfect woman for Dominic. She is quiet and reserved, nothing like any woman Dom has ever been attracted to before, but there is steel in her backbone. Abby’s character had to grow up quickly when her parents died and she had to assume responsibility for her much younger sister. This makes her very risk averse, and having a relationship with Dominic is way out of her comfort zone.
For me, this was a riveting read. The pacing is fast, but at the same time, it did not feel rushed. Ms. Cardello’s writing is smooth and flowing and a joy to read. The plot, while common in romances written recently, involving a billionaire, is told in a refreshing manner. She gives just the right amount of detail when describing the surroundings without taking too far. I could see the garden she visits in China, visualize the flowers, smell them even. I love when that happens.
I LOVE Kim Bubbs narration. She is one of the best narrators I have listened to recently. Her ability to give each character their own distinctive voice is amazing. So many of them have different accents, but she handles it beautifully. Her well-modulated tone pulls me into the story and was a joy to listen to. I will definitely look for other books narrated by her.
If you are looking for a billionaire story that has complex characters and an interesting plot, the I highly recommend Maid for the Billionaire. I have already downloaded the next book, and so far, it is as great as this one. I think I’m going to having a long relationship with Ms. Cardello since there are seven books in this series. Happy reading!
Maid for the Billionaire by Ruth Cardello Money sure can't buy happiness. Dominic Corisi was proof of that. He spent most of his life gaining fortune after being disinherited and now that he was about to pounce on his father...the old guy up and died. He wasn't mourning his father, only the loss of his revenge. Running off to his home in Boston that he never went to, with all his mansions all over the world why bother. Seems going to the old Brownstone was about to change his life...for good and bad.
Abby Dartley was trying to save her sister Lil's butt, again. Only her sister had finally got her life on the right track now that she was a single mother. Today couldn't be helped. The brownstone needed to be cleaned and Lil was sick. Only Mr. Armani walks in and tells her to leave, and she should have, but Abby being a fixer upper type of gal sees a project. A decision that leads her out of Boston and into China. A decision that takes her heart even further.
Maid for the Billionaire is a free ebook but once you have read it I'm sure you will be jumping in your seat to go and snag book 2 and then you'll be chewing your nails until this summer when book 3 is released. It was well written and Ruth brought the emotions of the characters out well and pulled a few tears from me when things took a down turn.
Ruth already has book 2 in this series out, For Love or Legacy. Book 3 is too be released this summer, Bedding the Billionaire and a 4th book sometime in the future will be called Saving the Sheik.
The timeline for this romance is ludicrous. Our main characters, Dominic and Abby, meet when Abby steps in to cover for her sister as Dom's maid. The next morning she's dolled up and accompanying him to the reading of his father's will. A day later she's on a plane with Dom to China. WHAT?
I get the whole falling in love at first sight thing, but traveling with that person to another country knowing that he's a hot head? IDK that's just really unrealistic to me.
Take time out of the equation though, and the story would have been fine. Dom and Abby are interesting characters. Dom is an enigma with a really messed up past. He speaks to none of his family (well what's left of them) and is in a constant battle for more power and money. This power hungry attitude has made him a man with many enemies, few friends, and a personality that doesn't let him lose anything. His domineering personality gets knocked down a few pegs when Abby steps into his life and makes him realize that having money and being powerful in the business world doesn't give you the right to treat everyone like shit.
Besides the timeline of events, the rest of the book was good. Good writing, characters with unfolding backgrounds, etc - ::sigh:: I just can't get over the book's time frame. Its unrealistic nature just blew it.
I liked the initial flirtation and lust that immediately sprung into action when the both of them met.
Unfortunately it went down hill after that for me. Still a good, smooth read, but I ended up severing my connection with the characters by around 50%. I didn't understand why Dominic would want a stranger at the reading of his fathers will - yes, it was explained that he wanted a yummy distraction to keep his mind of the event - but I just didn't get it.
I couldn't understand why a billionaire would suddenly let a complete stranger into the inner most part of his private affairs. And the confusion continued...
There wasn't enough time for me to understand their connection. They had been together only a few days, where Dominic's emotions were heightened because of his father's death - yet they are now madly in love even though they've spent such little time together.
I just couldn't feel the connection.
So for me this started out pretty good, great writing, flirty story, but I couldn't connect with the characters after the first few scenes.
I picked this book while looking for some easy reading to help me fall asleep. Boy, was that a mistake! I could not let go of the story until I had read the very last page. Ruth Cardello is an amazing writer. She connects with the reader in a way that not many new authors do. I found the main characters to be very well developed and utterly interesting. I even like the villain (Stephan), as she has hinted that there is more to his desire to destroy Dominic than mere professional rivalry. My only complaint is that I want the next book NOW. Yes I'm like a dog with a bone when I discover a new voice that captivates me as you have. A well deserved Five Stars.
P.S. I think you have way more than three stories in this series as even the minor characters capture one's imagination. I'd love to hear Zhang's story and getting to know Mrs. Duhamel better would be a real treat.

It was good, but it wasn't steamy enough for me. The storyline was pretty crazy for the timeline that it all fell into and the ending...... well lets just say I found it rather over the top cheesy. But for a mindless read on a sleepy afternoon it did entertain me. Also I was intrigued enought to want to know what is going to happen in the following books.
Not my cup of tea 🙄 Falling in love, getting engaged, planning children, flying across the world, saving a humongous business deal, finding your long lost mother, etc... all in one week.... Yeeaaaaaaa - no 🤨
Calha a todas menos a mim!
