"WILL YOU GO BACK IN TIME TO SAVE YOUR SOULMATE?" 21st century police officer Kristen Ford opens her door late one night to a mysterious stranger with this unbelievable request. On a lark, Kristen agrees to take a look at her true fate, and finds herself hurled back through time to the wild wild west, facing off against a band of outlaws led by a handsome but deadly gunslinger. A wanted man in three states, the outlaw known as Parrish wouldn't trust a woman with his hat let alone his heart. But, there's something intriguing about Kristen Ford--something charming and a bit crazy that he can't seem to resist. Can Kristen survive long enough in 1881 to accomplish her mission? Or will her growing feelings for Parrish prevent her from ever returning home to the 21st century?
This was a very good story and great characters. I had read this book a long time ago just didn't recognise it with all the books I read. It's a well written book and if you like bad boy cowboys and a plucky heroine you will like this a lot.
After her father's recent death in the line of duty, Officer Kristen Ford finds herself on forced personal leave, bored out of her mind, when a strange small old women forces her way into her home, telling her that she was born in the wrong time and her soul mate needed her. Trying to placate the woman, Kristen agrees to go with her - and finds herself suddenly back in 1889 Nevada, in the middle of a train hold up. Her mission, before she can return home, is to find her soulmate and "guide him to a life of morality". Her first task is to figure out who he is.
This was a very entertaining book to read on a hot summer afternoon. I won a copy form Goodreads.com.
Enjoyed the book. Wasn't sure how it was going to work out. Jack was pretty stubborn. Loved the beginning when she wasn't sure which of the three men was the right one.
I don't know what this book was like before it was revised but I sure enjoyed it! One of the best things was that the romance scenes were muted! Great storyline!
I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction or the old west, but the characters and dialogue in this entertaining time-travel romance hooked me and kept me reading until 2 a.m.!
Kristen is a cop with a penchant for not only getting herself INTO trouble, but also getting herself OUT of it...which I loved. She's practical, tough-minded, and fiesty...and her training and ferocity serve her well when she's catapulted back in time and sucked up in the antics of a band of three outlaws. The characters come alive the moment they open their mouths, and the banter and subtext add dimension, humor, and tension to the interesting plot.
PG-13 for some language (although no F words), sexual situations, the mention of prostitution/brothels, and an alarming near-rape scene, but none of it is gratuitous, and all of it deepens the plot and makes the characters impressively real. It IS a romance novel set in the old west, after all--so all that should be expected!
The level of emotional intimacy portrayed for "soulmates" was a little light, IMO; however, I am a very intense, expressive romantic, so my idea of "soulmate" might be a lot more intense than what was portrayed, even though there WAS a lot of great sexual tension (and release). All in all, great plot twists and it kept me reading to the end in one sitting. My nails are all chewed off and I don't regret the late night. :D
Four stars, talk about action!.. This story is pack with it.. Kirsten a cop on leave goes back in time to redeem an outlaw from his dangerous life.. Killing, robbery, compassion is all the components bin making this book.. Jack use to the ways of an outlaw, fights but love wins.. Ending is short, could have added some mire to warp it up
I enjoyed this fast-paced story. The heroine was plucky and stubborn. The book was clean, but slightly steamy...I wish it would have had more steam. The villains were nasty, which is what you want in an exciting tale. I wished for more of an ending or an epilogue.
Got this book as part of a gag gift from a co worker, and it was actually pretty entertaining. Not my typical read, so good to switch it up. Decent plot line, medium heat.
