Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
[Sept 3, 2016] I suppose there might be better editions of the Apocrypha around these days; after all, this edition is nearly forty years old. Nevertheless I found the introductory material (both to the collection itself and each book) helpful, but I felt the footnotes could have been better. The books themselves, like the protocanonical O.T. books range from excellent to meh. The Wisdom of Jesus ben Sirach is definitely the best, and if you read just one book from the Apocrypha, this is the one you should read. I felt it was even better than the canonical book of Proverbs, which it closely resembles. I found the organization of the additions to Esther utterly bewildering, and if somebody could explain it to me I would much appreciate it.
