Wolfman #3

Judgement

Rate this book
The course of true love never runs smooth. For Daniel and Mace it runs red with a river of blood…

The world fell apart after a virus killed billions. Those men who didn't die... changed. The media called it Werewolf Syndrome. Life as we knew it pretty much ended. Those of us scrounging for survival in the post-apocalyptic devastation have one chance left -- learn to work together, or face extinction.

It wasn’t much of a choice. Return to Mace’s den with him, or stay here, alone, with the women -- and the most bigoted redneck in the world. I didn’t count on getting attacked by rabids -- violent, crazy rabids -- or rescuing two slightly less crazy wolfmen and a blind woman. Or ending up back at my mother’s compound.

My mother’s a surgeon. With any luck she’ll be able to save Derek. And convince our two factions not to kill one another. And maybe -- just maybe -- find some common ground between us that offers some hope for the future. Because where Mace is concerned, I kind of like the idea of us staying alive…

Dark Dreams, Forbidden Fantasies. What if...

Brannan writes books that move people, balancing gritty realism with a sprinkling of humor and leavened with love. Her critically acclaimed books include post apocalyptic, fantasy and paranormal genres. Gender is no barrier to love so you'll find m/f, m/m and m/m/f couples sharing the adventures and romances of a lifetime. She loves to put average people in tough and unusual spots to see what makes them tick. OK, some are not so average and are from different realities but they are still as real to her as anyone.

Brannan can often be found writing out on her patio, while traveling with her hubby or squirreled away in her studio. She lives on a small ranch in Colorado and enjoys traveling, making stained glass windows and staring out the window over looking her ranch wondering “what if?”

Come lose yourself in Brannan’s worlds where passion and gritty action coexist.

My biggest problem with this series is how much of a tease each book is. You have no idea how much I want to read them all at once! I look forward to the day when this series ends and I can read them all in one go. But then I never want that time to come because that'd mean no more Mace and Daniel and that just breaks my heart!

As the series progresses, I love each book even more. Daniel seemed funnier in this one than the previous two. His ability to be sarcastic and snarky at the same time amazes me and had me chuckling when he does it at the wrong moment. I love Mace for his shear possessiveness and dominance. He growls and grabs at Daniel, not giving an inch unless he wants to but even beneath the rough handling, he's gentle. He adores Daniel. Daniel is his chosen after all.

In this book, Daniel and Mace deal more with where Daniel will stay: with his family at the compound or with Mace at the den. Mace needs and wants Daniel and the compound ultimately needs Daniel. It was amusing watching them compromise on where Daniel would be without letting Daniel have a say in it until the end. Very amusing, indeed. I absolutely love the post-apocalyptic world. The brutality and how rough it is awes me. I love the wolfmen hierarchy and the way Mace keeps the pack in line. He's a good leader and seeing him take charge never fails to make me hot ;-)

In the end, I loved this book just as much as the others. Daniel and Mace are getting closer while the world they live in is just getting rougher and more brutal. I'm really looking forward to how the rest of the series progresses. Definitely recommended.

Another fabulous addition to this series.
Mace and Daniel's relationship gets better and more intense with each book. The love they feel for each other is incredible to see. They're fantastic together.
I really like all the Pack dynamics too :)

These wolfmen pack were like some hardcore gang, only way cooler and a lot MORE brutal and blood-thirsty. With major high high HIGH sex drive too, no doubt!

This installment had more blood-splaterred and organs-ripped than the previous two. And Daniel proved himself to be a kickass albeit being mere human among the though and snarling wolfman. Well deserved chosen to alpha Mace!

Boy, this series is FUN to read!! :)

I'm a little over the spelling out of groaning, moaning and gurgling exhalations during sex. I'm not even sure how "Annnggg" is supposed to be pronounced. Ahnuhnuhnuhguhguhguh?

One of my friends here at GR reviewed a book in this series and compared it to Cotton Candy...and I totally agree. Mostly no substance but addicting so you want more of it but aren't satisfied because even when you get more it's not filling.

And yet, I can't stop reading it...

Yet another fantastic installment of the Wolfman series. These books just keeps on getting better and better. This one was more gory than the last but there are still a lot of hot sexy moments to be had! I'm already dreading the last book and I have two to go yet! Moving on to Salvation

Judgement, book number three in the Wolfman series, is a good read. It continues the story of Daniel and Mace, their growing relationship, and their efforts to put the world back together after a virus decimates civilization and leaves the survivors to deal with the Wolfman Syndrome. A lot of the focus of Judgement is placed on growth. The growth of Daniel and Mace's relationship, the relationships between Mace's pack and Daniel's Mother's group, and in Mace's efforts to reach out to the "Rabids." I liked this installment in the series, and I look forward to the next book. Maybe it will beak 100 pages.

I give Judgement three stars.

No story progression, I feel like we're just reading the same story again. Like book one where Daniel gets hurt, sleeps with Mace, gets hurt again, rinse, repeat. In the last few it's someone gets hurt, go to compound, fix them up. Rinse repeat. The teaser of Mace remembering things from his prior live from book two is completely dropped and that's so disappointing. So much potential wasted. Also these books are too short and too expensive. This should be a trilogy at best, not 5 books.

I definitely hope that this wasn't the last book in this terrific series. Mace has to bring his pack back under his control after his absence. Daniel is officially Pack now. There is a little of a shaky truce forming between the pack and the women after Daniel and Mace bring some wounded to the doctor for treatment. Hot wolfman sex and pack politics abound. I need book 4 please Ms Black!

This really is the best description of pack dynamics and politics among the were/shifter subgenre even if it's not a shifter book (series). Well, not really a shifter book (series).
I really don't want this series to end. Or to end too soon. I think even 5 books are not enough! Please, please Ms. Black write more than 5 in this series!

Whole series impressed me with the set up. I liked the serial feel of the short stories that followed directly after each other like episodes.

Loved the wolfs, the plot, the bad guys, the pack policies, the SEX, the action, the mum.

Its not the worlds greatest literary master piece, what it is - is damn fun.

I have enjoyed all 5 books so I am rating the entire series 5 stars.

Brief review posted to book 1. All the stories are really a continuation and should probably be read in order.

The mother "Sylvia" is getting increasingly annoying to me and I hope she gets to be a lesser character going forward. It's just too much. But I like the other main characters.
