Janie is a shifter. Mild-mannered, quiet, and almost reclusive, as she works at Bella Mae’s, a local diner, and lives alone, deep in the woods. She has always felt out of place among other people and feels that only her mother that died in an automobile accident when she was still very young truly understood her. That was until Roane entered her life. From the moment their eyes meet, she feels a connection, much deeper that merely physical.
I must admit upfront that I am no real fan of stories about shifters, vampires, werewolves, or any other creatures that prefer to dwell in the dark. I am, however, totally hooked on books and reading. I acquired this book without even looking at what it may be about. It was short but maybe, more importantly, free. I have always been a sucker for a bargain!
I can categorically state that this story hasn’t changed my opinion on this genre but I did find it exciting and liked the way it was written. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I would jump at the chance to read the next book in this series, but I would gladly read anything by this author in another genre.
