Regulate, Reason, Reassure (RRR) is a coping-skills approach for parents to help their misophonic child cope with the everyday struggles of the disorder on their own or with the guidance of a therapist. RRR can be tailored for different aged children and adolescents. Older adolescents are often able to use RRR with greater independence. RRR draws on principles from multiple cross-disciplinary therapies and prioritizes psychoeducation, which entails providing education and information to others to help them understand a disorder or condition. Psychoeducation in misophonia also involves assisting parents to better understand how to access help and advocate for their child. In the case of misophonia, knowledge is power; understanding misophonia helps take the powerout of the disorder.
Not my typical read, but my daughter was recently diagnosed, and her audiologist recommended this to us. None of it is really "Earth shattering," but it's helpful information to better understand and navigate this diagnosis.
