Emma has reasons to celebrate. Her three grown children and their families are traveling to be with her on her birthday, and she is pondering what could be her own wedding to her former lawyer. But unanticapted problems could thwart her happpiness. A surprise visitor threatens the peace of the boarding house. Adapting to a new lifestyle - in both abode and personality - may be the breaking point that prevents her from marrying again. How much of herself and the personality is she willing to compromise for others? In the end, Emma must be true to herself and her beliefs, because if she fails there, what else is there? This final novel in the trilogy does not disappoint but at least leads to a satisfying conclusion. Well-written with well developed characters, it’s hard to say good-bye to the series.

I loved this set of books. They were all very well done. Love the characters, the setting, the plot, the narrator. This genre gives me a good feeling of comfort and peace. Even though there are "problems" they are every day kinds of things that we all face. And I love how Emma turned to God to help her through them. Very inspirational.

This trilogy explores issue related to widowhood in a setting near the turn of the 20th century. Hospitality, charity and parenting are other themes that run through the books. I think I only read two of the three.

A nice ending to this trilogy set in New York state near the Erie canal in the 1800s. Emma, a widow with 3 grown sons, who are all married with children, runs a boarding house along with her mother-in-law and other help. In this ending to the series, we finally get to meet the sons and their families, as they travel back to Candlewood to celebrate Emma's birthday. We also get to see whether Emma's budding personal relationship with her lawyer, Zachary, is going to lead anywhere. There is also a side story of a very rebellious teenage girl who feels hurt and abandoned. A nice and satisfying ending to this series with a mild Christian message and lacking any offensive elements.

Emma continued to run Hill House in this final book in the series, and she is now engaged to Zachary Breckenwith. But things don't come easy for them to become more acquainted as problems continue with residents in the boarding house, a brother returns home with his family along with his wife's wild niece, and Emma and Zachary have issues when a couple of female friends ask her for legal advice rather than Zachary.

This was a wonderful conclusion filled with humor, disagreements, and an excellent faith thread. I enjoyed this series set in the 1840's.

Trusting God with Every Circumstance

In this warm last book to the Candlewood Trilogy, Emma is faced with hard decisions regarding her faith, family and future. She's real about her struggles, taking them to the Lord as each new twist and turn faces her. In her humility and honesty, God is able to bless her with a future she never could have imagined had she leaned on her own understanding. I absolutely loved this book!

A wonderful Trilogy

The third book did not disappoint. The story moved quickly and had several areas of humour interspersed with more serious parts of the book . I would recommend this trilogy for a top choice read.

Great story

Enjoy the love of family and the kindness they show to each other. And the romance and love of two friends.

While it was a little bit predictable, I still enjoyed this book. Sad to see it end, but Emma, Mother Garret and Aunt Francis will always be my favorite and dearest characters.

Where Love Dwells ended up being my favorite of Parr's Candlewood Trilogy. The characters I came to know and love in the first two books are back, with a few new faces too. Readers meet Emma's sons and grandkids at long last--along with a surprise named Wren. Feisty and outspoken, Wren's character won me over from her first line. Outcast and bitter about being estranged from her mother, she has the "rough around the edges" heart that so many foster kids come into families with. I found myself really rooting for her and wishing I could bring her home myself. The larger picture in this book was powerful too: seeing the way circumstances may seem to be turning against you, leading you away from where you thought God wanted you to be. In the end, though, His blessings blossom in ways you never expected. I was so sure all along how the book would turn out and it went another direction for a very satisfying end.

This is the third book in the Candlewood Trilogy. It is a beautifully written historical fiction with unforgettable characters. It deals with love, family, faith, and is an excellent expose on life's joys and problems. It is interesting to read how Emma, the main character, deals with and can adapt even though she is a very strong woman.
Many of the characters are from the previous two books, but there are a few new ones. One is named Wyrn, an insolent, rude, obnoxious teenager that Emma tries to pacify until she realizes she is not succeedng and takes more drastic measures.
This novel is a fitting end to the trilogy . Conflicts are resolved and we see changes made.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, especially this third book.

A Satisfying Conclusion

Book three of the Candlewood Trilogy is as hard to put down as its predecessors. In addition to renewing acquaintances with some e the characters you've come to love in books one and two, we finally meet Widow Emma Garrett's family...with a very interesting surprise 'niece' thrown into the mix. On again-off again wedding plans resolve in an unexpected but satisfying conclusion to this delightful series.

I have finished this series and it was great reading. I enjoyed reading how strong a character Emma was yet she could bend. She changed her views when she knew in her heart of hearts that she was going in the wrong direction and she leaned heavily on the Lord and his guidance in her life. this starts out slow but you will fall in love with the characters and want to finish it.

i like the author (i taught with her for a number of years), i love the characters, the location and the storyline. however, i am an atheist, so the religion gets in the way of the story for me. i understand it's place in the trilogy and i appreciate the faith exhibited by the characters and the author, but it is a stumbling block for me.

Lots of love and Faith

Wonderful story about love, family and Faith in God. Exceptionally written. Great examples of life's ups and downs and how the main character handles them through her faith in God.
