Conflict, and a Serial Murderer, on the Cross Boarder Rail Line

In “Come Save Me - Molly Black once again has Caitlin Dare And Nathan Bridges in pursuit of a serial killer travelling on the train routes between Canada, and the United States,.

Only THIS time they are joined by their RCMP ( Royal Canadian Mounted Police ) counterparts, Connor and DuPont.

Vulnerable young women, at a turning point in their lives are being targeted.

Things do not start well, as DuPont and Caitlin rub each other the wrong way.

Information sharing becomes competitive as the two teams fight to establish control.

As they begin to piece together the patterns of this killer, he strikes again, forcing the teams to put aside their differences and work together.

As the fourth victim shows up, it becomes apparent that Caitlin and DuPont will have to go deep undercover for this case if they have any hope of catching this clever killer.

As usual, Molly Black keeps the action, and tension going.

The narrative flows easily as more, and more evidence is uncovered.

Meanwhile, we have the whole Caitlin and Nathan slow, slow back burning attraction simmering, along with the arc, that bookends her stories, the disappearance of Caitlin’s older sister Ella, ten years previous, on…A TRAIN!

And, it’s this thread that ends this book with Caitlin stepping into a big old load of do do.

I’m enjoying this series immensely! And ready to start the next

I've since learned through mild research that these books; these authors; even the audiobooks; all of it is AI generated. So with that knowledge understood, I relaxed a little and now just amuse myself with what AI can do and where it can take us. Since it isn't going anywhere and will only improve, I am along for the ride to see what kind of entertainment a computer can provide me, even if it is all ridiculous and outrageous when it comes up against things like the human brain and the way humans use and deduce with Logic and facts and experience.

I enjoyed this novel at the bare minimum, enough to read the rest of them. I am entertained perhaps by how poor the writing is. The mystery and the crime fighting is good, but this is just sad writing; it got published though so there is that accomplishment going for it.

These books feel as though the author wrote about crime proceedings and protocol by her own imaginations of what it is supposed to be like. There is a glaring lack of research into how things are actually done; the phraseology was abysmal. The dialogue that occurs between law-enforcement and civilians was appalling; there was no professionalism, no tact, and a huge infringement on the delicate nature of active investigations. I fail to recall at any time the phrase "person of interest" being used, and instead the author always jumps right to "suspect" or "killer". It was ridiculous. Caitlin Dare should not be an FBI agent.

She does seem to lack the understanding of rules and is much happier to go about making her own as she goes along. The only reason things work out in the end is by the author's own direction to make it so. It's infuriating.

Another gripe I have with these books is that the main antagonist; yes the "Killer", all seem to be having gone through some psychotic break, in order to justify killing their victims, many of whom are women who find themselves on their own. If the story had women teaming up all the time, then there wouldn't be any plot; which may have been a good thing as to not allow these dull killings to take place.

Now perhaps if there was a way for the "killer" to take down two victims at once, that would be interesting and up the stakes for our heros to crack the case as soon as possible!

My final grievance with these stories is that we really don't get much resolution after the capture of the bad guy, and it is so much more satisfying to be able to know what happens. Readers are committing themselves this far into the book, the author may as well grant readers that satisfaction of a well wrapped up case. I digress, I don't feel like this author has the wherewithal to concoct a satisfying ending, as there isn't a lot of effort put into the research of these books in the first place.

These kinds of crime-solving stories are what separate the amateurs from the professionals.

It seems I am going through a year of AI Generated Mystery Female Crime Solving Thrillers thanks to the recommends of my Hoopla account attached to my library.

Special FBI agent Caitlin Dare in charge of railroad crime needs to solve a serial killer on trains traveling between Canada and the US. She and her partner join agents from Canada to get the job done but the 2 teams don't mesh well in the beginning and there are lots of bad feelings. Once they get on the same page they are able to figure out who but then they have to find them which is harder than they thought.
She still has not solved her own sister's disappearance on a train many years ago but is still not giving up - she will find out the answer all she needs is the right clue.

Caitlin and partner Nathan are tasked to find a killer but must work with Canadian team to solve a cross border murder spree. The killer strikes on a train and strangles women with his bare hands. The two teams clash right from the start but they eventually learn to trust each other. Nathan and Caitlin are growing closer and things may get romantic in the future. Pressure from above has their office manager stressed but the new pair of investigators should help.

I'm reluctantly giving this a 3 rating. This woman really struggles to make logical, reasonable, and legal decisions when it comes to her personal life. She barely makes them in her professional life, but wowsers! How has she kept her job with the number of times she's abused her authority for personal matters?

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This book had a few flaws in it. Hoe the killer managed to not leave evidence is beyond me. Her sister storyline I felt like is still going nowhere. Overall a 3 star. Not my favorite in the series.
