A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora's Cave.
Parker can control and harness electricity. It makes him a talented thief. Until he meets Jillian.
His ability goes haywire and sparks are flying, literally. Seducing her out of her clothes while trying not to kill her is a challenge he's willing to take. Jolt by sensual jolt, he breaks through her sexual inhibitions. Lust, not love, is his goal. He plans to steal diamonds, not her heart. But with sex so powerfully addicting, even the best-laid plans can change.
Jillian has a five-octave voice, a singing gig at a diamond exhibition in Hong Kong and a nonexistent sex life.
During the flight to Hong Kong, she meets an electrifyingly sexy stranger. She's never experienced sexual energy so intense. He's the best lover she's ever had--and unbeknownst to Jillian, he's also the most deadly.
She falls deeply into a charged affair with many firsts--first orgasm, first-time sex in a bathroom stall, first time throwing all caution to the wind.
Something about me? Well, I like dark chocolate, autumn rain, and curling up on the couch reading a great story--while it rains outside, naturally. I also like to write. Stop by my website or send an email if inquiring mind needs to know more.
Jillian and Parker meet on a flight to Hong Kong, and have a jolting encounter in the airplane's bathroom. After the electrifying kiss on the plane, Jillian and Parker can't seem to shake the current that is drawing them together. Jillian is a singer that is scheduled to sing at diamond exhibition in Hong Kong, and Parker is there to steal the jewels. After departing the plane Jillian can't seem to get Parker off her mind, because never has a man made her feel the way he did with that one brief encounter. Apparently Parker is having the same issue, because it's been a long time since a woman has tested his control of his "gift". So he shows up in her hotel room, and the heat is on!!!
Parker was fun, sexy, arrogant and straight forward, I liked him. Jillian was Jillian, I didn't find anything special about her, just didn't feel one way or the other about her. What I did like was the story / plot, and of course Parker.
Parker tries to push Jillian away after the heist, just to keep her from trouble, but certain twists in the story has Parker going back, in hopes that he can convince her to leave Hong Kong with him.
I did have a few issues with this, there were several grammar and punctuation errors. And at one point during the heist, which happened during Jillian's performance, her dress was red, and suddenly it was black. Also it was never explained why or how Parker has his "gift".
If you're looking for a fun and sexy read, I would definitely recommend this.
This book was a PNR with a twist. We've all read the shifters and the vamps and the deamons and fae. This guy was a smexy lightning rod. Way cool.
We start out our story in a plane ride and a stolen kiss in the airplane bathroom. Our couple Mr. Lightening, and Ms. Way Good Singer can't stay away from eachother. You could say that sparks flew.
We get good back story along the way about what Mr. Lightening is doing at Ms. Way Good Singer's concert and at her hotel. We have two a-hole exes that get in the way, and a big fat diamond to make things even more enticing.
I don't wan't to go into too many details because I don't like spoilers in my reviews. So lets just say that the back story was doled out at appropriate times and doses. The sex scenes were...electric. *snort* And the although I had to suspend belief for a couple of the heroines actions (yes let me run away with a diamond theif in the dark...huh?) over-all I was drawn into the story, and cared about how it ended. We got a HEA ending that doesn't include the usual baby and marriage, and some really good scenes to bookmark for "alone reading time".
I will look for more by this author. And think there could be an additional tale about this couple, especially with the supporting characters causing possible trouble in the future. 4 stars.
Very Hot! .. this is actually the type of book that because it's so well written and the images have been in my head for the last couple of days.... that my husband has been getting 'extra' lucky..lol
3.5 stars. I liked the art/jewel thief storyline. The first half was pretty standard, nothing to write home about. Not that I'm complaining about a steamy interlude on an airplane, not at all. I just think that the story didn't hit a good stride until the male lead kidnapped the female during a botched robbery. It was fun seeing them on the run and what they did to avoid getting into more trouble.
Even though this was a respectable length for a short (just under 100 pages), I really wish the author had made the story a full length book. We never really got to see why the male lead had access to electricity. I would have enjoyed more world building in this area. This is a story I haven't seen before and if done well, it might have even worked as a series. Imagine a bunch of electricity-wielding art thieves were running around on the loose? Oh, the trouble they could get into! It would be a more interesting version of Ocean's Eleven, me thinks.
I'm almost tempted to go write some urban fantasy series now about a race of people who can zap each other with lightning, instead of doing something run of the mill like turn into a werewolf!
Sextricity by Amy Redwood was one smoking hot read. I am a goner for strong heroines and sexy as sin heroes. Parkers’ preferred job choice and mysterious air added great intrigue to the story. I loved his cocky and bad boy persona and his gift of manipulating energy forces. He was that go get what you want man every woman dreams of.
Jillian tickled me. On stage she ruled but in privacy she was afraid to voice her wants and needs. Watching Parker coax her out of her own shadow was as great as reading her talented voice enthral an audience. Add in danger, criminal activity and two people magnetically drawn together in an unbreakable spell, glittering jewels and finding that love is the priceless art everyone covets made the story for a grand read.
This was a very different story for me. A guy who harnesses electricity and uses it, in part, as foreplay? Interesting. :-) I wanted to smack Parker so many times for how indifferent he tried to act, which hurt Jillian time after time. I'm surprised she kept accepting him back. One thing that wasn't really addressed is why she was able to somehow withstand the electricity he'd let loose when he lost his control. But generally it was an interesting story, very smexy. I wouldn't say it was a HEA, but it looked promising.
