Warriors is a beautifully told story of being one of the Arkansas 9 -- those first African Americans who integrated Little Rock High School. This is history brought to life by Melba Beals Pattillo. It will make you cry at the injustice and wonder at the strength of Melba (and family) and the unsung heroism of the 101st airborn who were assigned to protect these youngsters. I cannot believe that people who were educated at the same time as I had to endure such bigotry and hatred to go to school! I was blessed to hear Melba talk in the 1990s about her life and this book and I could never forget her. I've taught this book and recommended it again and again. I did not read this as an ebook, but I have read it several times and will do so again. To read and study people's well written histories is to truly learn; help your kids/grandkids learn that history is not "ol' boring stuff" with a book like this.

This is an amazing emotional book that shows you the life the little rock nine members specifically Melba Patillo went through just for going to a white school. It shows how poorly they were treated and the discriminatory and racist names people would call them. This book made me cry too.

I really liked the way this book taught historical history. I learned so much about those terrible times. I hose to read this book because I wanted to know what it was like during those times in America and how people handled it.

Read for history class. Found it interesting and actually enjoyed it. I usually don't enjoy being forced to read a book. This was written beautifully and think it really allows people to capture the history.

The name of the book is Warriors Don’t Cry, the author’s name is Melba Pattillo Beals. The main setting in this book is in 1954 and 1957 The main characters are Melba Pattillo, her mom, and her grandma. The conflict in this book is the segregation in the schools. My opinion of the book is that it’s a good, I like that something is always happening and there isn’t too much detail about some things.(by that I mean, like the author isn’t describing a cloud for a paragraph, but the author will describing the cloud in one to two sentences.) Also I like that Melba Pattillo is in a all white school to help stop the segregation in schools. It connects to the main theme by her (Melba Pattillo) fighting/working to get rid of segregation in schools. I recommend this book to people who like historical nonfiction and people who like short novels.
