They finally find out why they are the only vampires that can walk during the day and what happened to Annie’s brother all those years ago.
Katherine is from Surrey, England. Growing up she was an avid reader and storyteller.
Once at a family sleepover when she was eight, she spun a tale of dragons, princesses, betrayal and cute puppies. It kept her cousins up all night. Sadly, she can’t remember a single bit of it.
To combat that problem for future works, she started to buy notebooks so she could jot down her ideas. It only sort of worked. Some were far too pretty to write in!
She has ‘ probably 2000’ playlists for her characters, stories and scenes. Only five get routinely used. There’s a pattern there…
We do not hurt the innocent. We drink rapists, abusers, murderers, and those like them.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review
This was my first book by Katherine Ginbey and it did not disappoint. The Survivors is a relaxing urban fantasy about four vampire girls only feeding on criminals after they died at the hands of evil men. But for some reason they are the only vampires that can walk in the sun and figuring out why that is unravels a whole series of secrets. There are witches, there is action, there is healthy sapphic representation, what more do you want?
The characters are great. They all had a unique personality and a good backstory. Their relations with each other were complex and I found myself rooting for all of the romances in this book. There’s a love triangle in this book and although I’m usually not a fan of those, I was loving this one. Also, Lola needs to be protected at all costs <3
I really enjoyed reading this one and can’t wait for the next book.
I enjoyed this read. At first I was worried that it wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but then it hooked me. It was nice to see the different relationships the characters had; including the “love triangle” that was discussed. I was more often rooting for the love the characters shown.
I was intrigued about their “motto” for killing/feeding. I thought it was different than most vampire stories I’ve read. It kind of brought me back to my teenager days when I was in love with Twilight. Only because they didn’t kill the innocent (there was no other relevance aside from that).
It ends with a cliffhanger & I can’t wait to read more books to come. Thank you Katherine for allowing me to be involved on your journey with this series.
Omg this book! I mean come on what's more to love witches, vampires who only kill "monsters" in regards to men who treat women as if they own them or men who are criminals, never once letting themselves take the lives of the innocent they so fiercely protect. Sapphic vampires!( And yes they deserve their own mention) Literally finished it in two days I didn't want it to end it was so good ! The story telling was amazing and the accuracy of some of the historical plots was on point. Such a good read I highly suggest you give this a read
The plot was so unexpected but incredibly satisfying, the characters were beautiful and beautifully written. It was a great book and i really hope there will be another one.
I liked the base idea and the fact that the main characters are female. That it speaks of the worst things that can happen to women and briefly allows you to feel the impact. That it portraits strong relationships between women (strong women). Validates womanhood. And it's a bit queer. The plots are well placed, dialogues are quite organic and the action and interactions are entertaining.
What i didn't like was the desperate infatuation of Annie towards Thomas. (That was a bit too much, annoying in some parts, made her look stupid imho sometimes)
The concept of the plot is so good - we love a witches and vampires mashup over centuries. The typos and grammatical errors were jarring, and switching back and forth in tenses pulled me out of the story through the whole book.
I was excited for this book because I liked the idea behind it and the writing style was good, but there was so much information I felt like I was missing that I was just confused the whole time.
This book was absolutely amazing. I loved it so much!!! It started off a little slow, but by page 50, I was hooked. It ended on a cliffhanger and I am so excited to read the next book!!!!
This book was like potato chips…once I started reading it , I couldn’t stop! It really deserves more like 4.5 stars because it was a very creative and unique take on vampire stories, and I appreciated the twists and turns. The characters have dimension, the plot is interesting. It has some mystery, romance, adventure, powerful women, and includes queer characters in a way that didn’t make them feel forced or like an oddity to jazz up the plot. I look forward to seeing what this author does next!
DNF at 50% Im so disappointed i wanted to love this but it was just so boring, maybe if it delved into the alternate history more i would like it better? Cuz if Catherine and Anne were Henry's only wives what were the other four up to? Tell me about Mary and Elizabeth after Henry's death You cant just tell me the hit musical SIX does not exist in this universe and not elaborate further
