The Marble Clock

Rate this book
When Molly Mason's father dies in a pit accident, she is forced out of their tied cottage and left with nothing but an old marble clock, her only heirloom. Her brother Harry is in the army, but Molly manages to find a job and lodgings. When she rebuffs the advances of her cantankerous landlord, his revenge is swift, and she finds herself in prison. Her only solace is her brother's best friend, Jackson, and Molly feels the first stirrings of attraction for the young soldier - but even on her release Molly cannot escape the shame of her past.
