Masquerade: A Reflection on Stereotypes and Individuality

Rate this book
As human beings, we attempt to make an ideal image of ourselves and of others. But sometimes we take a created image of a certain person and apply it to a whole group of people. By doing this, we fail to see the individual characteristics that make each person unique. The images we use to classify ourselves are just like masks - we create them and see others wear them. These masks cover up each individual's face, suggesting conformity and expected behavior and attitudes. Follow the protagonist Ariana, who has taken off her owl mask to see the world in which she lives - a world in which all people wear many unusual masks - and the pros and cons of having these predetermined images.
