My Blood Runs Blue
Officer Kristin Greene has always felt that something was missing from her life. Although her job with the Fawn Hollow Township Police Department keeps her busy, she still feels like there is something else out there for her.
She soon finds herself investigating a homicide where a young woman has had her throat ripped out. When she has to give the death notification to the family, her investigative nature comes out fast and strong when the parents seem too accepting of their daughter's death and make comments that just don't fit.
When the family requests the assistance of the VMF Securities, Kristin is confused that they would think a security company could assist with the murder investigation. When Julian and Alexander arrive she quickly finds herself being pulled into a love triangle that has been going on longer then she has been alive. Why do they look at her as if they know her? And why do they keep talking about Calista?

My Blood Runs Blue is another winner for PRN lovers! There is a dash of action, vampires, some decent steam, and I can now say that I have experienced my first genuine PRN love triangle.
Kristin is a cop who loves her job. When the read begins, Kristin has been pulled into a murder investigation. While investigating the murder of a local girl, she experiences some supernatural feelings for a mysterious man named Julian. Additionally, there is another presence that is mysteriously drawing her attention.
"It didn't matter if it was right or wrong, I craved her. I wanted her, and I was going to take her."
Julian and Alex are both vampires. They have a twisted history when it comes to their desires for women (one woman in particular). Kristin inadvertently forces them both to face their past. While the plot thickens the questions begin to build, is this woman going to drive these two friends further apart or will she bring healing to them both? Will Kristin be able to catch the murdered and solve the case?
The push and pull between the two vampire men was angst ridden and full of passion. It was abundantly clear that both men felt broken and both men felt like Kristin was the only the thing that could heal their pain.
"This might be the last time I got to hold her, and I was going to take advantage of every second."
"I made such a horrible mistake. I know it. It was you that I should have been with. It was you that I really wanted."
Overall, My Blood Runs Blue was a very enjoyable read. I have been vague regarding the plot in order to avoid spoiling it for you. I am actually not a fan of love triangles and yet, I enjoyed Kristin, Alex, and Julian's story very much. The tempo of the read was nicely paced. The characters were well developed and the story of their past was quite intriguing. The story is told in multiple POV which aids the reader understand the depth of the dynamics between the three main characters. Although the beginning and middle of the story were well developed, I felt like the end was a bit rushed. Simply put, I would have liked more development between Kristin and the man that she chose. At first, I was hesitant of her choice because I wanted more details supporting that choice. (Additionally, I can't help but feel sorry for the other guy.) Still, I felt content with how the read ended. Ms. Eaton certainly has captured my attention with this series. I will definitely be reading more from her and I hope that "the other guy" gets his HEA soon!

I bought this years ago and I am trying to clear out my backlog of books bought but never read.
The most annoying thing about this book was the style of writing. The story was told from one point of view in one chapter, then the same scene was told from another person’s POV in the next chapter. I didn’t really find the story too compelling but it was a good first effort. I think this is this author’s first book.

The story opens with Police Officer Kristin Greene patroling on the dark roads on the night shift.
Told in the first person,we get to know Kristin the "Officer" and also the woman. An Officer dedicated to her job and in tune to all that is around her."Sometimes I had mission in mind as to where I needed to go or what I needed to do".As the woman: "Many times,I thought I was trying to find myself,like someone was out there that I should be with..like there was a true purpose for my soul,and I had yet to find it".On this night of reflection,she soon finds herself investigating a homicide of a young woman,who has had her throat ripped open. As Kristin digs deeper into the case,she finds more than she bargined for and is thrust into a world she never would have belived existed.Two strong and secretive men will enter into her life,and change all that she has known.
ALEXANDER: The boss of the VMT and also of Julian,once a a good friend until he is betrayed by the two he cares for the most.
JULIAN: Comes to Fawn Hollow Township to investigate murders going on and to put a stop to them. When he meets Kristin the past rushes back to now intwine with the present,and once again change his life.He too will be shocked by what awaits him.
DAMON: The one who they all search for..Kristin he will try to kill..again
Why do they call her Calista? How has the past now become important in the present to her? Who can she trust? Who will she choose?
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS STORY: When using a past/present theme and also with the main characters told in the first person,not many authors can carry this off without confussing the reader.But this author did it very well.I think this was the first book that Ive read where all the characters told their own story in their own voice,and not once was I lost,and the author did a great job of leading me into each of them and getting to know how they felt. The author also uses her knowledge from her job as a Police Officer which made this story feel like I was really there with all the action.This book has it all! Past/present theme,mystery,romance,suspense,sensual love scenes. Thank you Stacy for such a great read! And I bow respectfuly to you for not only your dedication as a Police Officer( as it came threw in your story and characters),but as an author who took this reader to a place of escape and imagination. Im looking forward to reading book 2 and hoping there will be more to come! Highly recommended read!!

June 12, 2020My Blood Runs Blue is a paranormal suspense novel from Stacy Eaton and introduces the reader to Kristin, a strong-willed independent cop whose life begins to take some startling turns when a murderer appears in Fawn Hollow. Though it seems Fawn Hollow is facing its worst nightmare in the form of a serial killer, the reality is actually much more shocking and the discoveries that lie ahead for Kristin will have reverberations that affect her for the rest of her life.
Eaton writes well with a smooth, well flowing pace that moves the story along quickly but not at a rate that feels rushed. Dialogue slips into the stream of words easily, helping the story rather than hindering it, particularly as the author is able to develop an easy and realistic conversation between characters. This is evidenced throughout the novel and as a result, the dialogue rarely feels stilted or forced.
My Blood Runs Blue is part of a series and will be followed by Blue Blood for Life. The story, however, reads well as a self-contained novel so you needn’t be put off by the thought of a novel that will leave you dangling on a cliffhanger. It’s quite the contrary: there are a number of twists and turns in this book alone so I’m certainly intrigued about what future novels will bring.
One aspect of the book I did find frustrating at times was the retelling of the story by different characters. Throughout the course of the book Kristen, Alex and Julian (the latter two being vampires) all narrate parts of the tale. At some points sections will be narrated by two characters to show you how each was feeling. I can see the merit in this but I would have preferred smaller chunks of the book to be ‘retold’ or perhaps for it to have been done in a different style, such as the second person looking back on the scene at a later point. This is a minor quibble though and I suspect it relates more to a personal reader’s preference than any weakness of the book.
Stacy Eaton is a good storyteller, introducing characters that are easily likeable but which also have enough flaws to make you question their actions and motives. At a time when vampire novels are in abundance, it could actually be seen as a risky choice to produce something that might be perceived as coming from the same old tired formula. Therefore, it’s refreshing to see a well-written, engaging tale that helps reinvigorate my long held, now sadly tarnished, love of vampires. Hopefully book two will continue the good work!

This was an excellent first book by author Stacy Eaton. The book gripped me from the start and I liked the easy prose and the way each character was devleoped. Unlike other vampire tales that I have recently read, the main female lead in 'My Blood Runs Blue' was strong, willful minded and not some sad and disgruntled girl who falls in love at the very first instance. This was so refreshing! All of the characters were well drawn and they were characters that I could believe in. Alex and Julian were also convincing and there was some exceptionally well written dialogue between the characters. The style of writing was discriptive but no overly, so you are not bogged down with pages and pages of discription which holds you back from getting into the story. Eaton has it just right.
The detail and research into policing was fantastic and it gave the book a whole new level of depth and made everything seem so much more realistic.
This was a great first book from this author and I very much look forward to reading more of Stacy Eaton's work. 5 massive stars.

I liked the storyline, but the PoV from 3 characters was a little too much for me. I love dual points of view, they normslly don't go over the same scene again and just move on, but in this book they seem to recap everything.
As I mentioned, storyline good, characthers good, new world building good.
I'm giving it 3 stars it was an ok read, but I admit I skipped bits as had read in previous chapter!

My Blood Runs Blue was a love triangle at its finest. I really enjoyed the struggle of choosing between the two guys. Plus it didn't hurt that I totally loved her choice in the end! She chose the right one :)
The thing that I love about vampire books, is even though there are tons of them out there, there are always some different nuances in each of their descriptions of the creatures. I love reading about all the various descriptions of vampires.
I liked how Stacey depicted them. I thought the half-breed and mate elements were really interesting. I can't wait to read the next book so I can find out some more about their history. I am interested to see what is going to happen next in the series because this book wrapped everything up pretty nicely I thought. So it will be interesting to see what the next hurdle is going to be.

This wasn't horrible, but it didn't particularly resonate with me. Some of what bothered me was objectively problematic, like some sloppy editing*. I noticed a couple word-order issues (such as "It had been a small gift to myself after had Trevor died.") and missing letter mishaps (like 'she' being 'he), and a lot of repeat words that just made for awkward reading. Things like:
None of it was atrocious, but I noticed. I also thought names were used too often in dialogue, making it feel stiff.
A lot of what bothered me was subjectively problematic though—things I personally disliked, but might not bother others. One of my least favorite writing critiques is the dictate to show not tell. It's not that it's bad advice, I just hate it because it's so often quoted that it's lost any real meaning, IMO. But in this case I really felt it. This book is told, not shown and it meant I didn't really connect with any of the characters.
What's worse, a lot of the story is told in lengthy, disruptive flashbacks. So, I was never able to settle into the flow of the narrative. This was extremely exacerbated by the fact that almost every scene is seen from AT LEAST two POVs. So, you'd read scene from, say, Kristan's POV and then go back in time and read the same scene from Alex and/or Julian's POV. Notice the and/or. Yes, there were times you'd read it from all three. This made the narrative stutter painfully and I did not enjoy it. But it might not irritate others as badly.
I had a similar feeling about the romance aspect. The two men were in love with an idea and it had nothing to do with who Kristan actually was. They might as well have been fighting over a watch, for all the importance her, as a person, held. And the way she threw herself at whichever was in front of her meant I never formed an attachment to either man. I simply didn't care who she chose. I might have been a little more interested if she'd chosen both. But that was clearly not on the table.
Lastly, I appreciated that Kristan really was strong and independent. But I hate author's tenancy to make even the strongest female character fall unconscious repeatedly. Despite being an experienced cop, Kristan manages to trip over her own feet and knock herself out AND get knocked over and unconscious by a dog. This is a 'frail female' trope that can die as far as i am concerned.
I do actually have the next book in the series. (Well, it's book 3, as 2 is a short story that I don't have.) But I don't plan to read it. I'll keep it, in case I change my mind at some point. But right now, I'm not interested.

My Blood Runs Blue alternates narratives between Kristin, a police officer, and Julian, who is both a vampire and part of a security team that keeps watch over not only humans but his own kind. Another vampire named Alex adds narration later on. Things start when a girl whose parents Kristin knows is found with her throat gored open, one of several who have been found in neighboring towns. The girl's parents have a strange reaction to their daughter's death, and seem to know more than they let on. At the same time, two handsome strangers enter town, and affecting Kristin deeply. But that's only the
beginning.
First off, the chemistry between the characters in this book, especially Julian and Kristin, and in Julian's flashbacks with Calista, is electric. The sensuality is very, very steamy, and the emotional connections are described in a really believable way. I could actually feel their emotions through the words. As an aside,
vampire/human sex is so hot and so much fun to read about!
I thought the combination of vampires and police work was really original, and I didn't know if it would work. But in Ms. Eaton's hands, the idea is handled effortlessly. I loved the juxtaposition of tough office Kristin with her romantic feelings, and it felt very natural and not forced.
The attention to detail of the police work and regulations makes
the story very engrossing and realistic. The writing flows very well and is easy to lose yourself in. Also, and this may just be a personal thing, but each chapter is titled with the character's names, which makes it very easy to know whose head your in, as opposed to other books where there is head hopping and you can't tell who is talking.
The supporting characters are as well fleshed out as the main characters, and I could really see them in my head.
My Blood Runs Blue is a very solid and enjoyable 5 star read, and I'm very eager to read the sequel!

First off, the chemistry between the characters in this book, especially Julian and Kristin, and in Julian's flashbacks with Calista, is electric. The sensuality is very, very steamy, and the emotional connections are described in a really believable way. I could actually feel their emotions through the words. As an aside,
vampire/human sex is so hot and so much fun to read about!
I thought the combination of vampires and police work was really original, and I didn't know if it would work. But in Ms. Eaton's hands, the idea is handled effortlessly. I loved the juxtaposition of tough office Kristin with her romantic feelings, and it felt very natural and not forced.
The attention to detail of the police work and regulations makes
the story very engrossing and realistic. The writing flows very well and is easy to lose yourself in. Also, and this may just be a personal thing, but each chapter is titled with the character's names, which makes it very easy to know whose head your in, as opposed to other books where there is head hopping and you can't tell who is talking.
The supporting characters are as well fleshed out as the main characters, and I could really see them in my head.
My Blood Runs Blue is a very solid and enjoyable 5 star read, and I'm very eager to read the sequel!

Wow. What a fantastic start for a new series and new author. This novel is written in first person. While reading the same scene from each person's point of view can be a bit tiresome, it also adds a level of understanding for each character you would not have gotten otherwise. Julian and Alex's friendship ended years ago when they both loved the same woman, Calista. After her death, they both dealt with loss and guilt. Thirty five years later, Kristin is the reincarnation of Calista. Now the love triangle starts all over again. Through their memories, you feel how much both men truly loved her. Julian's memories of Calista's death are heart breaking. Now Kristin is faced with trying to sort through her feelings and everything she has learned to choose between the two. Have you ever wondered if you could go back and experience a major event in your life again, if you would make the same decisions? The answer to that question is what Julian and Alex both want and fear.
In the meantime, they still have to try to keep Kristin safe from the vampire intent on ridding the world of all female vampires/half breeds. I will openly admit I did not see the ending coming. I was surprised and I'm still processing how I feel. That is a sign of a good book! I can not wait to read the next one.

A clever blend of authentic police procedural and paranormal romance, Stacy Eaton’s My Blood Runs Blue tells a fascinating tale with excellent timing and a truly intriguing use of different points of view. The plot is pleasingly complex—no simple romance or simple mystery here. And the strange backstory is introduced in nicely manageable pauses for memory. Telling the tale from three different points of view provides a satisfying feel for the characters’ complexity and adds depth to their emotions and decisions.

This was a really solid first book! It was very clear throughout this author knew about law enforcement. It shone through and made the novel that little bit more realistic! Wonderful!
I love any book that drops 'breadcrumbs' - revealing the truth little by little, and the author does a great job this! I was thoroughly intrigued as to why the death of a stranger would have some importance to Kristen...
The memory of Julian and Calista was beautiful! And instant mating. And Kristen's reaction to Alex's revelation was so real! I couldn't help but laugh too.
Alex and Jules' were definitely swoonworthy. I can think of worse things than being adored by 2 hot male vamps!
It's a well written novel, with a very solid plot, though I personally felt on a few occassions the prouse could have been edited to make reading a little smoother and remove repetitive words. This did not distract from the story in any way, and is more of a personal preference.

My Blood Runs Blue was an enjoyable read from start to finish. I had a hard time knowing which direction I should root for as both Julian and Alexander sounded quite yummy, but I was pleased with the outcome. All the characters were well developed from street tough cop Kristin to vampires Julian and Alexander. An excellent story line that entails a captivating mystery, a past forgotten and a love to last an eternal lifetime all inevitably intwined when the human and vampire species find themselves in a case involving the same homicidal killer. Overall a great book and recommended read. I'll be anxiously watching to see what Stacy Eaton puts out next!

My Blood Runs Blue is brilliantly written by Stacy, and includes all the elements in a crime drama you could ask for: think the drama of SVU with the passion of a day time soap opera mixed in with The Vampire Diaries. There's a little something for everyone in this story, and you won't be disappointed at all.
The detail that Eaton uses is tremendous in My Blood. The characters are great and really take on their own lives in this book. One of my favorite lines from the book that sums it up, "He killed you because you were - I mean, because you are - a vampire like us." Classic!

Eaton does an amazing job at developing the characters and background for this exceptional novel. The plot is fresh and exciting and the action moves along swiftly. I found myself engrossed in the lives of the players and though my pony didn't win the love-triangle race, I still finished the book very content in the outcome with a smile on my face. I'm looking forward to book #2

I liked the story and I liked the characters. What I didn't like was that after each scene, the author repeated it almost verbatim from the next characters point of view. Which becomes very repetitive. I found myself skimming through a lot of the book trying to get to the to the story itself. I bought the 2 box set so I'll be reading the next part. I am still interested. :-)

I haven't read PNR for awhile and this story sounded interesting. It was solid with some unusual twists. I am all over the love triangle trope and when you add in some of the other surprises (not saying much - no spoilers), I was shocked. As with most triangles, a choice is often made and I am so disappointed with this choice. I want to say so much more, but I want everyone who reads this book to go in fresh and not have my big mouth ruin it. I will just go quietly to the corner and nurse my sadness.

The characters are quite strong, forceful and easily grab the readers’ attention from the get go and the chemistry that Kristin feels for both Julian and Alex sizzles with lots of heat that readers can practically feel singeing the pages but the love triangle relationship is quite complicated and messy which has lots of turbulent emotions flowing from the pages along with all the turmoil from other aspects of the book, like the discovery of the paranormal, the learning of a past Kirstin had new clue of and the investigation of a serial killer that has Kirstin in his sights.
The author has created a fascinating vampire world with her unique elements that make for refreshing change in this fast paced, engaging and suspenseful story. My Thoughts:
From the beginning, I could tell that Eaton was going to make this a detailed and brilliant read. He knowledge and time as a police officer, meant that her main character was completely real. She had all the mannerisms, slang and attitude of a true police officer. She followed the path we often see officers of the law take - the law became her life. She was consumed by her love of the job, often closing off the outside and focusing on work.
The level of knowledge Eaton had also showed in the detail given to the situation, the storyline, the world of police and the way that the crime is carried forward. Our main character delves into the murder and soon finds that there is so much more happening than she originally thought. Eaton gave us sufficient detail to feel as though we were making these discoveries with our character. I felt the frustration, the fear, the betrayal and the hope throughout the investigation.
I liked the characters, and thought that they had a lot of depth. I feel that the relationship between the characters and the story was perfect. Our main character was always in sight, but there was never a 'top dog' who flew through and fixed everything. Just like the real world, these characters battled through the work, made mistakes, felt lost and then gather evidence, ideas and made the investigation come together.
I really like that the story was told from different perspectives, at different times. Though this made a slight repetition, it also made the book even more real. In any investigation, it is the sum of all the parts of the story that bring the real story together and give them the culprit. I felt as though the different angles really brought that to life.
Overall, this is a really great read. It was fun and I think it would be a read that anyone who likes crime or suspense stories would enjoy.

This was a book given me by the author, through World Literacy Cafe for review.
This was a very exciting book, but would be hard to put into a specific Genre. It’s about a policewoman, it has Vampires, romance, re-incarnation, and oh yes…A Serial Killer!
Kristin, our heroine, is a cop in the small town she grew up in. She was married to the love of her life, until he was killed in the line of duty. Now, a widow, trying to put her life back together. She is assigned to investigate a horrific murder which sadly turns out to be a young woman she knows. Even more intriguing is that the victim had her throat savagely ripped open. Not a knife wound!
Enter VMF. To the human world, it stands for Virtual Military Force Security. To the Vampire world, it is Vampire Military Force. Alexander is the leader, and one of our Hero’s. When he hears of the murder he assigns Julian, one of his enforcers, to investigate what sounds very similar to a series of crimes that occurred years ago. Julian knows these crimes well, he lost his wife and five year old daughter to the murderer. Julian is our second Hero.
What follows is a series of events that makes the reader anxious for every twist and turn as it occurs. It doesn’t end with your usual HEA. It ends, leaving the reader wanting more! Lucky for us there is more! Blue Blood For Life will hopefully have the rest of the answers we are looking for!
My only negative would be, though interesting to read each different persons perspective , it is a little repetitive. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes a stretch to their imagination while reading!

I do my best not to read reviews posted by others before I read a book because I worry it will affect what I think. So I read the synopsis of this book, and then bought it. I have to say that I really enjoyed it!
I knew it was a crime type story, but that's pretty much it. It's a crime story and so much more! I really enjoyed all the characters in the book, and I have to say that at no point was i bored or even a little tired of any of them. I found all the characters to be well rounded and believable, which was a lovely change!
There were some surprises and some interesting turns. Ms Eaton does a wonderful job of making sure that all the loose ends get tied up, and at no point was I left wondering, 'Yes, but...' The reader is left wondering for awhile, but sooner or later the answer is given.
This book had it all. It tied together nicely two of my favorite genre's and was believable in the way it was done. I also found that when I was finished, I really wanted to get the next book in the series, because I want to know what happens next!

I need to let everyone know up front that I am not really a fan of vampire stories, nor am I a fan of romance novels. With that said, I also have to admit that I really enjoyed My Blood Runs Blue. The story is well written, with lots of good description and character development. Even though I am not really into vampires, the story weaves the vampire aspect into the story in an almost plausable way, that made me think that their might actually be vampires walking among us. Although this is clearly the first book in a series, and spends the majority of the story on developing the characters, I would have liked a little more build up for the confrontation with the "rogue" vampire,who ultimately started the chain of events that lead to the story in the first place. This is the only reason I am giving My Blood Runs Blue 4 stars instead of 5 (I wish I could give it 4.5 stars).
If you are a fan of vampire novels, My Blood Runs Blue will be a special treat and for those of you, like me, who aren't into the whole vampire genre, pick up My Blood Runs Blue anyway because it certainly is a good read. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

I received a copy of this book from Reading Addiction Blog TOurs in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.
Normally, paranormal romance is not my thing. As I keep saying, a lot of paranormal romances have the same premise these days. I took a chance on this book because it sounded like it had a kickass heroine who may put a new spin on the book and its characters.
All in all, this wasn't a bad book at all. It had the makings of a great plot with interesting characters. I like the triangle factor. I like the fact that the heroines was a cop. It sounded real and relatable.
There were parts of the book which I enjoyed the least, but they were still pretty good. I think that for the author, things are just looking up and that her next books will all be major improvements and will all be even better. I truly believe there is potential in this story. I'm dying to read more of the series from here on.

Kay, let me start off with I LOVE THIS NEW SERIES!! I dont know what it is about it but I just loved it!! There wasnt quite as much action & blood as I normally like in my Vampire books but that didnt really seem to matter. Maybe its 'cause its charaters really drive this story. You really get to know them & feel for them & cry for them. Such strong charaters you cant help but get attached to them. The new take on vampires being born (and sometimes re-born) instead of turned, I found quite interesting & refreshing!! Even with the romance not being quite as hot & heavy as I usually read, It was still reaaly intense just because you grew so close to the charaters & the authors writing just made it feel so freakin real!! I definitly look foward to more from this series & this author, LOVED IT!! =]

I personally wanted Julian to be with her. I wanted them to be able to have their family back, and I was hoping that she would choose him. However, Alex was a really sweet guy. He wanted no one else. He proved that. He attended to her needs. He was even willing to give her her own choice, even if it meant that he lost her again.
I can't say that I am unhappy that she chose him.
Stacy is a great author. Her reading was very well written. She is also a very good friend. I've had her edit one of the pieces of a novel I started. I've spoken to her in depth many times. She is good people. Her writing is good writing.

It's a really great book! Sooooooooooooooo awesome! I loved the way it change of point of view, so that you know what the other characters are thinking, it's really nice in this book. Normally I don't like it but for My Blood Runs Blue I didn't care. And the story is really fast paced, when I began to read it I couldn't put it back until it was finished! lol! Definitly a MUST-READ!!!!!!!!!

It took me a while to get into this book because I don't usually read vampire stories. It started getting interesting when Alex came into town and saw the heroine. (I'll admit I was hoping he'll win her.)I loved that he did.
One thing I didn't particularly like was that a few scenes were rewritten almost word to word, but in a different point of view. The first time that happened it really confused me for a few paragraphs until I realized what the author was doing. (I believe one scene was written in three different points of view.)Other than that I truly enjoyed this book, and plan on reading more of Stacy Eaton's books.
