Garden Stitch Life is a beautiful and useful inspiration to embroider. Some of my favorite realistic motifs: sweet violet, viola tricolor, allium, tree, birds, bird houses, honeybee, Bumblebee, Carpenter bees, and honeycomb. The embroidery stitch guide is clear and the tips and techniques section helpful. There are lovely projects and DMC embroidery floss is specified by number. The best thing is that the motifs and templates are 100% actual size. This is a high quality book.
A beautiful book to look at and create and learn with. Lots of detailed instructions with illustrations and how to diagrams that are clear, well laid out and easy to read. There is a great step by step section on how to embroider in the different stitches used in embroidery to create different designs.
Some of the designs and patterns in the book are Swedish flowers and Dala horses, Red White Mushroom, spring flowers and autumn leaves and bees flying around flowers and green grasses. There are also helpful tips on how to create brooches and pins, pouches and a lovely market tote bag. A gorgeous book I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn embroidery and as a beautiful source of inspiration for colour composition and design for more experienced embroiderers.
This book contains photos and anecdotes related to the author's nature-related designs, and almost half of the book is devoted to detailed instructions and templates. I haven't made anything from the book, but I enjoyed looking through it at the library and will remember this as a resource for future projects.
Inspiration for me as I look at different ways and designs to use in embroidery in quilts. Her patterns and style are unique and take practice to become as precise an embroiderer as she is. I hope to come close.
There are some super great patterns in this book!!! My favorites are from the In The Garden section instead of the Everyday Life and Travels Abroad sections.
