J.C. Martin is a butt-kicking bookworm: when she isn’t reading or writing, she teaches martial arts and self-defence to adults and children.
After working in pharmaceutical research, then in education as a schoolteacher, she decided to put the following to good use: one, her 2nd degree black belt in Wing Chun kung fu; and two, her overwhelming need to write dark mysteries and gripping thrillers with a psychological slant.
Her short stories have won various prizes and have been published in several anthologies. Her debut novel, Oracle, will be released by J Taylor Publishing on August 1st, 2012.
Born and raised in Malaysia, J.C. now lives in south London with her husband and three dogs.
This is a very nice -but sad - story, well written and straight to the point. It show us that, sometimes, our own eyes can fool us and rage and impulsivity take us nowhere.
A Thousand Tears is a short story by J.C. Martin, 1780 words long. It's a very beautiful story, depicting a complicated relationship. It's very well written and shows us as much of the story as we need to know. As much as I wish there were more for us to read, I think the author has conveyed enough information to get a full picture. Though we don't know much about each character and their backgrounds, I think the author has left the majority of that to us where we can imagine our own characters and histories to them. Overall, it's very well done and quite enjoyable.
SPOILER ALERT! . . . . . So sad and infuriating, to be honest. This shows the worst case scenario of what can happen when one jumps to conclusions. If you've ever had someone assume wrongly about you and they end up feeling like a jerk after finding out you were sincere anyway, then you got a taste of what these characters experienced. It seemed like it could have been a good relationship, too.
I thought that this short story was beautiful and very very sad. A story of how love and life can be destroyed due to false accusations and a lack of communication between two lovers.
