An unsettling and peculiarly written book filled with details of crime in Great Britain. There was a collection of facts and exhaustive information but somehow the re-telling left me cold. I was hoping to learn more of the culture surrounding the beginnings of this awful phenomena and perhaps a window of hope, a way of addressing the problem.

An interesting book. In it, the author was goaded by some yobs while he was with his small son. He, rightly, didn't rise to it and walked on instead, as far as I remember. It's a common game with the yobs; to stop some man and make some gestures or throw something at him. Anyway, as he had his small son with him at the time, discretion was the better part of valour here and he made the right choice. Sometimes the yobs make the cardinal mistake of goading the victim too far and he counter attacks; see Vietnam Tom on the internet for an example.
