A desperate girl on the run with nowhere to hide... A warrior who has made a vow never to claim a bride... Sophia Waterhouse is being Hunted and the only man who can save her is the one she fears the most...
Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires so there’s no way she wants anything to do with a modern day Count Dracula—even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice blue eyes. She’s only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv’s wedding and that’s all.
Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt—or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.
When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll? You’ll have to read Brides of the Kindred Book 2—Hunted to find out.
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
There is clearly something wrong with me. I didn't like the first book - the characters were flat and uninteresting (even downright annoying), and I didn't think I'd pick up anything else in this series at all. Yet I was intrigued by Sylvan. He seemed to have a little more depth than Baird, and Sophie had a bit of fire in the first book.. it could be an interesting mix!
.. it wasn't. Just so you know.
Sophie lost any ounce of respectability that she had gained in Book 1. Far from being feisty and opinionated, she became a simpering damsel that was determined not to see the truth in front of her. She's afraid of needles (due a childhood illness that meant regular blood transfusions), so she's too terrified of Sylvan's teeth to move their relationship forward. Sylvan tells her it won't hurt, her sister's own experiences show her the same.. but it takes a virtual stranger telling her to make her realise that it's not going to hurt? Riiiight.
She spends the book on the receiving end of some wonderfully written not-quite sex, yet she can't bring herself to feel anything at all for the poor man that has to do it all to save her. Something else that irks me, to be honest. Is that all these warriors do to solve problems?
Kindred: AN ENEMY IS APPROACHING! QUICK, LET'S HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT BY SHAGGING MAGNIFICENTLY. Scourge: Oh noes! Where did they go?
To top it all off, she's had a traumatic sexual experience in her past which means she is not interested in men, thankyouverymuch. Did the author simply pick the most stereotypical history to explain Sophia's aversion to all things Sylvan? He has fangs, so she's afraid of pointy things. Kindred are all about the sex, so let's make her not want that either.
And OF COURSE there's a moment where Sophie thinks she is going to die and realises she JUST CAN'T live without Sylvan and magically everything is fixed, perfect and wonderful. Really? Do you really need to re-use that? Am I to expect that in the rest of the books? Needless to say, apparently that one true moment will cure any woman of an aversion to anything.
Moving on to Sylvan. Such potential and angst, wrapped up in an alien that might as well be a vampire. Yet I found his backstory - the whole reason for his surly demeanor - stale, boring and not really in keeping with the depth of emotions that these Kindred Warriors are supposed to have.
The story itself - I kept on forgetting I was reading a scifi novel. I wonder why the author didn't just write a Paranormal Romance out of this instead.
The sex scenes were well written. I think when it comes down to it I'm really reading this series for them. I'll admit it. No doubt I'll find the same issues with the next book...

Hunted is book 2 in Anderson's erotic sci-fi series. Having read book 1, I am not sure why I read book 2, except that I was in the mood for the type, the book was cheap, and I really wanted to turn off my brain and not think for awhile, which is a large reason why I read these types of books in the first place. I should have learned my lesson with the first book.
This is what I call innocent erotica. It is not my favorite type. The heroine is inexperienced and the final seduction scene nearly made me want to rate the entire book 1 star.
Anderson's story telling leaves much to be desired. Her characters are shallow. Sophia was one of my least favorite female characters ever. She was incredibly stupid. I really wanted the her to die. Too bad the story did not turn into a horror novel. There was more potential for horror than romance. Sylvan was not as bad of a character, barely. I quickly became sick and tired of his oaths - I swear to protect you, I swear to leave you alone, blah, blah, blah.... I also disliked the dream sequences. I feel like this with all of these types of books but it was particularly annoying here.
But I continued to read because of that whole turn off the brain bit, no problem in that area, and I liked the potential story of Kat and the Scourge. I'm guessing those will be books 3 and 4, so I may break down and read those in a moment of weakness when they are published.
Wow, what an improvement from the first installment. Huge improvement.
The world building is great. The length of this romance is almost like two books, so the story is quite rich. The main heroine is not absurd and annoying like in the first installment. The side characters and parallel stories are interesting. The whole thing was quite entertaining, so to my surprise, I enjoyed it a lot.
I would say that my only problem is that the mentality of the women and man here are, to me, old fashion, but other than that, it was a great read. After all, that kind of old mind-set is to be expected in romances, I just hope this kind of plague ends soon because it has started to bother me more and more lately in the books I read, to the point that is now crippling my enjoyment.
Anyway, I am glad I decided to give this series another chance. I'll move on to the next installment. Now, I am very curious about the Twins situation (book 3) and about Xairn's story (book 4).
Sophia is claustrophobic, scared of needles, scared of blood, scared of heights, big dogs and haunted house carnival rides. Something bad happened in her past, but the way she's freaking out about everything, including squeaking constantly when she accidentally touches a scrape is getting a little irritating. And poor Sylvan, everytime she looks at him it's in fear or terror. Even when he's trying to comfort her after she goes to him!, she still recoils. Why do these brothers have to be tortured by being attracted to such basket-cases? Olivia was just as much a hurtful freak. Then Sophia finally starts to want Sylvan and makes him lick all her rashes. It was one of the grossest sex scenes I've ever read. The book ends with the third friend who seemed the most reasonable of the three disliking these twin guys for doing a psychic link to save Sophia that has made her know their thoughts and even though this has never happened to them before, she's angry that it's happening at all and they must be to blame. Totally unreasonable. I loved Planet X by this author but this bride series is getting on my nerves.
Roll your eyes comment: "Who even is this Mother L’rin person? What are her qualifications? Where did she do her residency?” This is about an ancient healer on another planet.
Possible that my attitude toward this book caused a drop in the rating. What I mean by that is Sophia took a turn I didn’t see coming. I was looking forward to diving into this book with the impressions she would be witty and a tad sarcastic as in book 1 ..... Not. The. Case.
Incredibly damaged is how I would describe Sophia. She has had one of the worst things a woman could experience happen to her making this mating extremely difficult. If I had seen this turn happening I might not feel as cross as I do about this read. I was looking forward to a strong feisty character and she kept me in a down depressed sad state.
Took me far longer than usual to finish. It’s hard to even touch on the MC. I feel like Sophia had so much trauma it overshadowed who and what he was.
Summary Hunted (Brides of the Kindred) is book two in the Earth Girls are Stupid series. This series of books is intertwined so they cannot be read independently. The heroine, Sophie, has a terrible phobia about needles stemming from a childhood illness which leads her to fear all things sharp including the fangs of the alien to which she is secretly attracted. Not sure how she can even manage to handle a knife enough to eat dinner considering the depth of her issues. Sophie's endless anxiety goes on for at least 200 pages too long and is very annoying. The hero, Sylvan, risks his life repeatedly for the object of his affection even though she is consistently verbally and emotionally abusive. It is not worth the $2.99 cover price, but reader beware. You may be lured into additional series purchases in the vain hope the characters finally get a clue.
Fantasy World Hunted exists in a sci fi world where aliens battle it out in the space around Earth. The Kindred mother ship orbits the moon and is filled with lots of very strange but amazingly useful creatures. None of it is very believable or well structured.
Tingle Factor There are equal amounts of tingle and frustration. Hunted could also be renamed Tease.
Romance This book is more about the heroine's phobia than romance.
Drama Hunted is mostly about Sophie's fear of sharp objects so the drama is about her hyperventilating every time she thinks about something sharp or something that might hurt. There is some incidental evil alien drama thrown in randomly.
Heroine Sophie is the twin sister of the heroine from Claimed, book one of the series. If she isn't hyperventilating over the thought of something sharp, she's burying her head in the sand. Sophie avoids things instead of dealing with them and her sister and best friend assist her in this destructive behavior. She uses Sylvan when she needs him and otherwise spurns him as a monster. She has been through some bad experiences but part of becoming an adult is taking steps to deal with bad experiences instead of acting like a perennial child to the detriment of others.
Hero Sylvan is the half brother of Baird, the hero of book one. He's a fierce warrior who has been unlucky in love and is reluctant to fall for Sophie. Sylvan finally throws in the towel when Sophie is attacked and goes all out to protect and woo the object of his affection. The only mystery is why such an alpha male puts up with with so much abuse. You'll want to jump up and down and yell, “Ditch the bitch! Pick me! Bite me!” when Sophie teases him then leaves him frustrated for the millionth time.
I felt like this book went on forever - it really did not need to be as long as it was, imo. Part of the reason is because they didn't actually get down to it until nearly the end of the book, so it was a bunch of angsty wishy-washy, back and forth on the reasons why that never really made that much sense. Overall, though, the story brought more information to the world-building that began in book 1, and it more than set things up for the next book. I can only hope it gets hotter sooner rather than later and doesn't harp on silly reasons for not bonding with super hot, protective, attentive men or my attention span with this series might not be long.
GAH. I think I'm in love. I've got a new genre (and series!) to add to my favourites collection, and man oh man. Slyvan? Good grief. I thought Claimed was good and I was all ZOMGSQUEE about Baird... This is better. Sign me up for one of him, please. Right now.
Evangeline Anderson knows how to do it. It's got an enjoyable plot, fantastic (see the stars in my eyes?) characters, and it's not overtly smutty (though well, let's face it, there's a fucktonne of smut - but it's well done and timed so that even though sometimes you find yourself grinning ruefully at the circumstances, it's never just smut for the sake of having it, it all ties very well into the plot).
Moving on to book three and some thoroughly enjoyable Deep... though I think I'm already dead set on Sylvan being my favourite. Creeper soul-sucking aliens can attack any day so long as I can be rescued by one of him - sorry husband!
Reread: October 2013
Reread: March 2015. Still even cheesier than the first. Still even more amazing. Still my favourite in the series. LOVE.
Reread: November 2016... Still waiting on that alien attack so I can have a Sylvan of my very own...
Mixed feelings about this. It was very readable and entertaining in its way -- i.e., as sheer OTT erotic fantasy -- but also had quite a few annoying elements.
1) The basic relationship was very similar to that in the first book: endlessly eager, loving, gorgeous man who wants nothing but to go down on the heroine all night long and TSTL woman who resists him for some dumbass reason for 300 pages (but lets him go down on her). And the resisting is not because he's a benevolent sexist, mind you, which would actually be a legitimate reason. It's clear that the third book is going to follow the exact same pattern, which makes me tired before I've even started it.
2) We witness the previous couple's wedding night, which includes Baird bringing in some BDSM elements with no previous discussion or negotiation, including forcing Liv to call him "Sir." That really rubbed me the wrong way.
3) The fantasy elements are wackier than ever, including what I think was a new twist on the previous hero's genitals: not only does he have a "mating fist" but he now also has a "flange" which basically turns him into a Rabbit vibrator. Actually, I found these parts of the series kind of amusing. They're so obviously tongue in cheek.
4) The heroine is one pathetic mess.
Anyway, if you liked the first book it's worth trying this one. Just expect a whole hell of a lot more of the same.
This was even better than Claimed. I couldn't stop laughing. I think it was because Baird always knew what he was saying to Liv was provocative and dirty, whereas Sylvan is being serious as a heart attack. when he makes these outrageous sexual comments. He might as well be reading the Wall Street Journal.
I have to hand it to Ms. Anderson. She has a real gift for making sex NECESSARY FOR SURVIVAL in her stories. I keep reading to see why it is they HAVE to get busy this time.
Favorite Part: The Tharp. It's like an X-rated Dr. Seuss creation.
Sylvan is definitely my favorite Kindred Warrior so far.
Hunted 'Hunted' by Evangeline Anderson is book Two in the "Brides of the Kindred" series. This story is about Sophia and Sylvan. This can be a standalone book, but beware that Sophia and Sylvan do meet in book One "Claimed" which is the story of Olivia & Baird. Sophia is Olivia's twin sister and Sylvan is Baird 'half brother'. Sophia and Sylvan are having to interact because of their siblings are getting married and they are in the wedding party. Sophia and Sylvan have met a few times before the actual wedding when their siblings were first coming to know each other and in those meeting they didn't get along. Now they find out the day of the wedding that they have to kiss as a 'good luck kiss' for their siblings. But that is just the first surprise of the day for them. After the wedding Sylvan has offered to see Sophia home but on the way they are almost kidnapped and that puts them on the run. It was great watching these two come together along with trying to fight their feelings! I must say after reading the first book "Claimed" if feel in love with Sylvan and Sophia along with this series. This book does in with a HEA for these two but it does leave you with a cliffhanger setting you up for the next book and their story-line. Hunted is book two in the Brides of the Kindred series by Evangeline Anderson.
I like to give a series a two or three book try before I say I’m going to stop. Hunted was not my cup of tea. I was hoping for something different and sadly I was disappointed. You may wonder why did I read the whole book well the only reason I read Hunted to the end was to get the set-up story for our next couple which are featured in, book three, Sought.
Sophia was a very disappointing heroine. She was feisty and opinionated in book one, Claimed, but here in her book she becomes a simpering damsel that was determined not to see the truth in front of her. She’s incredibly damaged and is afraid of needles (due to all the transfusions she had as a child), so to pair her up with a Blood Kindred aka Vampire. Ya, that’s not going to go over well! She was such a depressing character that it kept me down and depressed throughout this novel.
Sylvan is a Kindred Warrior who’s made a sacred vow never to call a bride; because of a devastating rejection on his home planet. Then he meets Sophia and now he’s torn. I liked Sylvan. He was interesting and I liked getting to learn about the Blood Kindred race.
As for the romance. It took this couple FOREVER to get together and it took a total stranger to got Sophia to understand that having a Blood Kindred bit her is not going to hurt even thou Sylvan has told her this too and she’s seen first hand her own sisters experience. Let me also point out that Sophias had a traumatic sexual experience; besides being afraid of needles, so really can the author make her anymore opposite of wanting her Kindred? Sophia was just so annoying! I get their where traumatic things in her past preventing them from moving on and committing, but man did the author drag this on longer then necessary. And, last when she’s about to die, she realizes she CAN’T LIVE without Sylvan and magically everything is perfect. Eh!!
The only reason I read this novel to the end was the secondary story weaved into Hunted. I like how the author weaves these into her story. She did with Claimed and again here. We get the setup for our next couple which is going to be a menage with Kat, Locks Hard and Stabs Deep. I love the Twin Kindred and their different personalities are interesting. The chemistry between these three is already fantastic. I can’t wait to see how it grows and what surprises are in store for them.
Hunted was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
Not much to be said about this book. It had it's moments, especially the ones dealing with the Scourge prophecy but otherwise it was pretty standard. Like most books in the genre the length is inflated by adding unnecessary complications mostly based on the total lack of communication between the main characters. Still it was light and funny book with some hot scenes so it's a great way to relax after more emotionally taxing reads.
Evangeline has quickly become one of my favorite authors with this series!
The first book made me question, I overlooked the annoying heroine for the awesome world building and actual storyline.
We first met Sophia in Claimed, she is the twin sister to Olivia. They are totally identical aside from the hair color. Now, in that book you first see the connection between her and Sylvan. You know its there, they sort of unconsciously calm and ease each other worries. We see Sophia as strong albeit a little erratic and fanatical in her need to get her twin back from one of the Kindred.
In this book we are in her actual brain and see why she needs Olivia so much and what her fears are. Now, Evangeline really took on a hot button issue and I think between the male and the female characters she handed it brilliantly.
Sophia was assaulted sexually in high school her Senior year of high school. She was then tormented more by her attacker in order to insure her silence. Now, I bet you ask, where are the parents? Well, the parents were killed in a car crash and it was just her and her twin and another friend. Instead of dealing with it head on she bottled it, which in reality, a lot of victims do. She become guarded and introverted in a very believable way.
Now, enter Sylvan. He knows there is something based on her reactions to him. She's afraid of his size, sexual hunger, and dominance. Finally fishing the story out of her, he is one of the most sympathetic males I have ever come across in romance! That to me made him more Alpha than any Alpha male in most books!
Just a note: A man that is willing to work through the trauma with a woman who was attacked, and shows her compassion, does not make him a push over or weak, it means he's gives a crap! I loved how this whole story was written. The elements of racism that was worked in by the other class of alien races was a stroke of genus and I was riveted by every page of this amazing love story.
Evangeline I am coming to find knows how to mix a little bit a dark into each book she writes. Keeping the reader on her toes as a whole!
Hunted, like it's predecessor, is sub-par sci-fi sprinkled on top of a hot sex/annoying arche-type sundae.
Sophia is weak and spineless. She's afraid of everything. It's probably because she had a traumatic sexual experience when she was younger, so I can empathize with that to some extent. But her irredeemable insipidness? Nope.
Sylvan was more likeable to me than Baird, but I tend to find brooding and emotionally with-drawn bad boys sexy. He seemed to be a bit more refined, and I will admit that I appreciate that more as well. But again...the story line between he and Sophia is really unbelievable, emotionally. No girl is hot enough to be worth a never ending stream of crying, whimpering, and stammering. I can't believe that any of these characters could be much fun to hang out with in a real life scenario.
The whole thing with Sylvan's fangs actually not being painful when he bites during bonding sex, could have easily been solved with a one sentenced explanation as soon as he became aware of Sophia's fear. But don't worry, she'll spend the whole book shuddering in fear of his fangs, yet simultaneously desiring him and wanting him to eat her out over and over.
Also, I realized after reading this one, that the alien terms of endearment (talana, lilenta, etc), as well as the story in its entirety really, are really reminiscent of Dara Joy and her Matrix of Destiny series. "Taja" and "gharta" are terms of endearment from Dara's books, which also feature handsome and lusty muscle bound alien men that somehow "just know" when they've found their brides, many of which are human. I think the sex scenes in these stories are done better, however.
This is the second installment of this series and I have decided that, so far, I do not like any of the heroines in this series. They are weak. They are annoying. They are slap worthy. Get over it already. This is the story of Sophia, twin to the sister in the first book. The Kindred that she should be mated to, has fangs. Because of a childhood illness, which, the whole history of that is stupid, (her parents would rather her go through several painful transfusion that to have one common surgery-seriously), she is terrified of anything sharp. Needles, fangs, sharpie pens, sharp edges, sharp retorts (you get the point). Although her warrior has proven his love over and over again, and she knows it, she cannot get past him having to "bite" her as a part of the love making process. And believe me, she said the word bite so many times you wanted to say, please don't mate her, she's a ding dong. The author stayed true to the original formula, in that there is such potential for a great story, but it never really fleshes out. There is plenty of hot sex talk, but the heroine is once again so annoying, you feel sorry for the guy. I would loan this book, but once again, to that friend that is bored and needs to completely escape reality. Off to the third installation, not because they are so good, but because I hate to leave a series unfinished. TTFN-Sandy
This is the second book in the brides of Kindred series and where the first book was a lot of smut with a little plot, it set up the idea of humans and the Kindred being together, the background of cultures and our first glimpse of the ship. It was great and I really enjoyed it.
However, I enjoyed this second instalment in the series even more. This instalment was equal parts plot and smut, which for me was the perfect combination.
I loved the characters of Sophia and Sylvan, who both had their issues and past traumas (Sophia more so and the way that Sylvan approached those I thought was handled really well) and are dealing with navigating their increasing feelings with those confines. Add into that a plot to kidnap Sophia and you have a wonderful sci-fi adventure where romance and sex are just part of life.
There were some great additional characters introduced in this book (and yes these are real names of characters!) like MM2, Deep, Lock and Kat and Sylvan's cousin Nadiah. I also think that Xarin has a lot of potential too.
4 stars for Hunted and I will be continuing the series with Kat, Deep and Locks stories.
I am not sure it was even "just ok". I hated Sophia. I don't think I am have come across a more whiny, stupid heroine in all of my reading. She was the most annoying person ever, to read about.
How disappointing after Claimed being so good. This is only 2 stars becuase of the steamy scenes.
I actually think I enjoyed this book a little bit more than the first one, although I definitely preffered Olivia as a heroine, she was so much stronger. Sophia really started to get on my nerves at times. What I liked so much about this book was the switches in point of view. It gave us a great opportunity to catch up with past characters and meet new ones whilst still enjoying the main love story. It was fantastic.
Anyhoo, I just want to say that I absolutely love this cover. Those fangs *shivers all over* LOL. I love them.
I was so happy to get to see Baird and Olivia on their wedding night. Holy crap that was some serious lovin! '"That's good," he rumbled. "Because it's going to be a long... long night. And we're just getting started." His voice softened and he stroked her back soothingly. "I love you, Olivia. Love you so much." "Show me how much, Baird." She whispered in a low, breathless voice. "With pleasure, Lilenta."'
God, I love that guy.
Sylvan was a fantastic hero. He's so different to Baird, but I think I like them about the same but for different reasons. His relationship with Sophia could be really frustrating, so many things could have been avoided so easily if he had just explained himself, let her know that the biting wouldn't hurt, that it's nothing like what she's imagining. Sophia did finally come to her senses and allowed herself to bond with Sylvan, once she got over all her 1000 fears, they were wonderful together.
"Bite me, Sylvan. I'd rather have a bite from you that a kiss from anyone else." They were a great couple but still, I prefered Baird and Olivia.
It was great to get to see more of Kat in this book, and seeing her gain the very intense attention from Deep and Lock (holy crap, it's Twins. LOL) was brilliant. I like that you kind of get the Light Twin (Lock), who is really sweet, tender and caring. Then you get the Dark Twin (Deep) who is stand-offish, a bit of an arsehole, but you can see and feel that he's just pure sex, that he loves to possess and dominate. *fanning face* LOL Kat is so blunt and her sense of humour had me laughing out loud...
'Kat felt the sudden urge to pinch herself. Are they seriously saying they come from a planet of skinny-minnies but they think plus sized girls are hotter? Did somebody slip me some crazy pills?'
The Twins make it very clear that they want her, but their minds being connected to them both is becoming too much for Kat. She is struggling to cope with their emotions constantly flooding her mind and knows she couldn'y handle being bonded to them both, it would just be too much. She has already made a connection with Lock, who's so tender and considerate. But she is struggling with Deep, who scares the crap out of her. But her reservations feel like an outright rejection to the already burned Deep. Although he tries to hide it, you can see the hurt in his eyes.
'"It looks like you were wrong, Brother," Deep sneered, rising to his feet. "Our Kat doesn't need me at all. She only needs you."'
I am so happy their book is next. I cannot wait to read it.
I was surprised to meet Xairn (the All Father's son) in this book. Seeing his life and the pain he has to live with on a daily basis was hard. Getting glimpses of his deprived childhood were devastating. No child could come out of that without being somewhat broken. We know that he has those dark desires deep within him, those that come with his father's blood, but he locks them down and is determined not to be like his father. But we also saw redeeming qualities about him in this book. I really hope we get to see him again and learn more about him.
Ok, I'll stop there otherwise this will go on forever. But as you can probably guess, I loved this book and will definitely be reading the rest of this series as soon as possible.
Two scared beings come together, and learn to heal each others hearts but it'll take a lot before they admit their true feelings for one another.
Sophia Waterhouse is deathly afraid of needles. As a young child she became ill and have to undergo several blood transfusions which has scared her mentally. To top it off after the death of her parents she was brutally attacked and has sworn off men until Sylvan enters her life.
Sylvan is a tranq kindred who's made a vow to never take a bride. He believes he's in control of his emotions and has a heart of ice until a few stolen kisses with Sophia begins to ignite a spark that he never knew existed.
It begins with a goodluck tradition at Baird and Olivia's bonding ceremony when Sophia has to initiate a kiss and Sylvan gets his first taste of her. Danger lurks in the shadows, and Sylvan and Sophia find themselves running for their lives. They only have eachother to depend on, and they soon realize that the feelings that they're trying to fight are too strong not to persue. Now the only thing standing in their way to heal both their broken hearts is Sophia's fear of Sylvans fangs.
Hunted, book two of the kindred series has yet another completely unique plotline with many unsuspecting twists throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me on my toes the entire time, and had some really great seduction scenes. I'm looking forward to the next installment of the kindred series.
What I liked. Hero and heroine are tortured souls and I'm sucker for that.
What I disliked. - It was dragged story with unnecessary addition of subplots. - Lust in threesomes or more is acceptable but love, no. - Heroine is quite annoying. - The over usage of indicating stammer or stutter or unsure "uh" in almost every dialogue.
Sadly, I decided to discontinue the series because I cannot stand excessive usage of 'uh'. It is tiring and irritating to read.
Overall: 3.5 rounded to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ World Building: 📖📖📖📖 Feels: 🦋🦋🦋 Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔💔 Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡ Romance: 💞💞💞💞 Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋 Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑 Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥 (I think? Honestly I was kind of lazy with note taking in this one but it should be AT LEAST a 3) Humor: Yes Perspective: Third person from primarily the hero and heroine, but also the villain’s son, the heroine from book 1, the heroine from book 3...
(These are all personal preference on a scale of 1-5 (yours ratings may vary depending what gives you feels and how you prefer you sex scenes written, etc) except the Steam Scale which follows our chart from A Love Less Ordinary )
Should I read in order? Ideally, yes. There’s a lot going on and character overlap that I think would be best in order.
Basic plot: Sophia is adjusting to her twin sister being mated to a Kindred and living away from Earth. But now she is being hunted, and the only one that can protect her is her new brother-in-law. Too bad he’s a Blood Kindred and Sophia is terrified of his fangs.
Give this a try if you want: - Science fiction romance - Alien hero/human heroine - Road trip romance feel – friends wedding, survival in the woods on Earth, alien planet... - Touch of enemies to lovers - Lots of pining and bit of unrequited love for the hero - Forced proximity - Medium to higher steam - - Plenty of danger, suspense, and action scenes along with the romance - Love triangle
My thoughts: I liked quite a bit about this one but also found a few things tedious.
Honestly, I think I am struggling a bit with the length of these books. They just feel long! And sometimes I feel like we’re having the same conversation a bit too much (I felt the same thing in book 1), and also there’s a lot of time taken up by giving multiple other characters page time and time in their heads. This usually bothers me because I prefer just main couple focus, so I don’t think these things will bother most people. There’s quite a bit of page time in this one for Kat, Lock and Deep – their book being next I think their story is starting to be set up here.
I really did like both characters. I loved the tension between them, I loved how gentle Sylvan is and how he takes his time with Sophia. Sophia is really sweet and I liked her personality a lot. I was more into the book when they were on Earth and it had that road trip feel. When we travel to Sylvan’s planet about halfway through the book, I did get irritated with the other woman drama. It’s just not a favorite trope for me to have.
Overall, I did like this one. The sex is great, her scenes are so developed and emotional as well as explicit and I really, really appreciate that. I think her world building and character developing is really amazing too. I am so, so curious about the next book which is MFM and really eager to try that one. I’m taking a little bit of a break from her though and hoping when I come back I will be prepared for the longer page count haha.
Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires so there's no way she wants anything to do with a modern day Count Dracula-even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice blue eyes. She's only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv's wedding and that's all.
Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt-or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.
When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll? From Goodreads
Another book in the Brides of Kindred series and another hot alien. Seriously these guys are prefect, where can I find one, these men can probe me as much as they want! And Sylfan surprised me, he is a Blood Kindred (Space Vampire!) and I didn’t think I would like him as much as Baird as I am not a vamp girl most the time. BUT Sylfan was amazing; maybe it is a case of double the fangs, double the pleasure? Not only was he hot in a way that’s lethal to anyone with a weak heart, but he was also sweet and hung five legged horse if you catch my drift *waggles eyebrows*
Sophia was also good, I didn’t really like Liv from Claimed but I did like Sophia, although she resisted Sylfan as well her reasons were so heart breaking that I was completely on her side. But they did make a fabulous couple when they got together. Although I am beginning to notice a pattern of them only realizing when the other one is about to die! Hopefully the next book will shake that up a little.
And, thinking of the next book, it is Kat and Locks Hard and Stabs Deep story! I cannot wait to read it! I love the idea of Twin Kindred and they have been my favourite since I first read about them in Claimed even though we hadn’t met any! And the chemistry between Lock, Deep and Kat has already been set up fantastically. I really can’t wait to read, I know I am repeating myself but my review my rules LOL!
Another character I would love to see get a book is Xairn, what an interesting fella! He is part of the Scrouge but different as he still has some compassion left in him. There was a really sad and horrible moment for him in this book as well which I won’t spoil, but it has left me with a massive soft spot for him.
As with the other books this one was hot as hell, these Kindred really know how to work it; these books should come with a clean pair of knickers or at least a warning!
Girls Guide to the Kindred:
Beast Kindred aka Fuckably Feral Aliens- Savage in battle these dark, brooding warriors from Rageron bring their passion and intensity to the bedroom. They possess a very special endowment that ensures every sexual experience is a tantric one.
Blood Kindred aka Space Vampire Aliens-Cold as ice to their enemies, these tall, blond warriors from Tranq Prime warm up when they find the right woman. But be careful...they bite.
Twin Kindred aka Menage a HOT Aliens-Muscular and rugged, these warriors from Twin Moons always come in pairs and cannot be separated. They experience physical pain when parted from each other...or the one woman they both choose to love. (MY FAVOURITE!!)
Hunted by Evangeline Anderson #2 Brides of Kindred Series
This is the second book in the series and although it has Baird and Olivia from the first book involved this book follows Sophia and Sylva.
Sophia Waterhouse is visiting the Kindred mother ship to attend her sister’s Olivia’s wedding and her involvement in the ceremony has her having to kiss Baird’s half-brother Sylvan much to both of their disgust.
Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred, his blonde hair and ice blue eyes are the obvious sign that he is different than the others on the ship. Sylvan’s hard and cold exterior hides his pain from his past.
Offering to see Sophia home safety they run into trouble and find themselves stranded together in a remote location. Forced to depend on one another to survive they learn more about the secrets they hide and attraction between them grows and ignites into something they can no longer deny. The story ends on a cliff hanger and continues in Book#3.
MY THOUGHTS: This book in the series has more character depth, the plot is well thought out and delivered smoother. Again, I was fascinated with all the cultural details of the Kindred, these aspects enhanced my interest in the story. The sex scenes were hot and heavy and the slow burn of the push and pull was nowhere near as painful as the first book.
Sophia was a stronger character for me than Olivia, her struggle towards the Kindred male was more justified then Olivia’s juvenile and selfish reasons. Both the hero and heroine have a greater challenge to overcome adding more depth to the plot.
GENRE: Sci Fi Erotic Romance NARRATION: Dual POV BOOK DETAILS: Book #2 of 11 of Kindred Bride Series AUDIO AVAILABLE – Whisper- sync ready
DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK? Yes if you are after a sci fi erotic romance story.
Narrated by: Anne Johnstonbrown Length: 12 hrs
Anne had a lot of different voices she had to narrate on her own, she did very well considering this. Her portrayal of a male’s voice was really good but I wanted more emotion in their voices, particularly in the intimate scenes. Overall though I enjoyed this audio.
It's hard to believe this has an estimated 472 paperback pages. It flew by like a book half its page count. The entertainment value is very high indeed.
As with the first, the dialog and situations are a mixed bag. I doubt most readers will enjoy every part of this book. But as long as you're a willing participant and your desire to be entertained silences the critical parts of your mind, I think there is a lot to enjoy.
I found Hunted to be more enjoyable than the first book. The action and sexual mischief that made the first successful were all in abundance in this one. There is a pattern to these stories and they have a logic all their own. But, again, if you look past these things, there is much to like:
1. The Scourge continue to get more interesting. Anderson has done a good job of exposing this enemy little by little and without the sort of big exposition that is so often the bane of even "serious" science fiction. Perhaps she's just making it all up as she goes, but it's coming together well.
2. The pattern of the eager and ever-faithful male warrior and the reluctant Earth woman is back, but Anderson puts enough of a spin on it to keep it interesting. I have nothing against patterns like this - the reader can know what is coming and like it anyway.
3. New scenery and a new "fish out of water" element helped to give this story more life. Anderson's sense of humor is nothing like mine, but I appreciate what she's done to lighten the mood.
I have to admit, this series is better than the ALIEN SCREWING I expected, while still having the alien screwing I expected.
This was better and worse than book 1. Better because of plot worse because I was looking for smut.
The main character is Sophia (or Sophie) who is twin sister of Olivia from book 1. We can all tell from book 1 where things were going with book 2 just like I can see who books 3 and 4 will be about from this book. Sophia was an annoying character, she had a lot of issues that drove me nuts though her reasons for them were legit. Sophia was which led to a fear of being bitten by Sylvan. He's a blood Kindred and he is also Sophia's brother in law. But they start having feelings for each other but between her fears and his vow [to not take a bride] they can't get their shit together. Once we got past most of that stuff we still had to deal with Sylvans issues too. Still overall I wasn't overly annoyed with the book and wasn't too upset or anything. I think I enjoyed it more than book 1 because I knew what to expect with the romance and because the world was more familiar to me this time around. I'm especially interested in their friend Kat's book.
read the first book in this series a couple years ago but didn't like it enough to purchase the second one. I re-read it at the beginning of this year and didn't like it any better. I rarely re-read a book, so it didn't seem fair for me to give it three stars.
On a whim, I bought this book anyway, and I enjoyed it waaaay more than the first (which is really closer to a 2 star book).
This book still has great erotic scenes, but it also has character development and plot. Maybe it was the fact that both twin sisters and their best friend that completes the trio are all on the ship. Maybe it is all the backstory of Sophia's character. Maybe it is the heart-wrenching development of the AllFather's son. I'm not sure, but it worked for me.
Even if you didn't like the first book, I recommend you give this one a try. I'm not immediately moving on to the third book only because I'm not sure I'll be into the Twin Kindred as much. We'll see. I added to my want to read list.
This book was amazing to read. It really has everything in it, and is completely enthralling. It is extremely sexy, and full of heat. However, I find it well balanced with a great story also. I personally don't care for a book without a good story, even if it's a sexy, hot book. I feel that is where so many writers go wrong when writing sexy books. This is book 2 in the Brides of the Kindred, book 1 was just as good, and I am going to read book 3 in the series now.
I definitely think these books are for 18, and over. There is explicit sex, swearing, dirty bedroom talk, and violence. Violence is not bad. If you're over 18, these books so far have been the best. Thank you.
Evangeline Anderson is an excellent author and this book is an amazing example. The story was a fantastic study into the emotional and psychological aspects of of two people hurt by tragedy in their lives and how they overcame their fears. Once again, I could not put this book down. I highly recommend it.
