General Overview A directly and humorously written guide to having a baby, I really enjoyed this. My fiance and I are not expecting, but it was an enjoyable read to go through together.
Style Ms Miranda Levy, has a clear and enjoyable writing style. Tongue in cheek at points, it is well laid out, and broken down in such a way that if you are desperate for a piece of info on something, you can find it in moments.
Substance It being a slightly older book, some of the advice and guidance is slightly out of date. However, this does not take away from the value and utility of the whole piece.
It is a surprisingly easy read, and the content it covers was really interesting. Even as a uncle to a slack handful of nieces and nephews, some in this age bracket, I've found the book really helpful when chatting to my sister, and others I know with young children. Thankfully, I am not big headed enough to assume I know everything about children from this one book.
Final Thoughts A good read, that I hope to be referring too, bleary eyed and exhausted, in years to come.
Slightly dated now and definitely rooted in the early 2000s UK health world, but good humour and advice. Very well organized and paced to pick up while baby has a nap or feed. Good mix of anecdotes and research.
