Following their debate over the fate of mankind, Spock and Q have continued their discussions over a meal. After dining, the two return to the stage to recount their repast, which included encounters with several of Spock's former shipmates.
However, at the moment the two verbal sparring partners shake hands, a power surge places them in total darkness. Suddenly, Spock and Q are no longer on stage, but somewhere in deep space.
As they struggle to determine what has happened, a curious personality change takes hold. Spock is overcome with giddy delight. Q is much more serious, even... logical.
Masterfully performed by Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie, Star Trek® Spock vs. Q: The Sequel is a fascinating and often hilarious role reversal that reveals previously unknown sides of Spock and Q. It is a program so original it could only come from Alien Voices®.
Following their performance in the original "Spock vs. Q" drama, Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie returned as their trademark characters in a sequel that takes place immediately after the events of the first script.
This one is different but equally instructive and amusing. In the first drama, Spock is trying to get Q to remove an asteroid that's headed straight for Earth by persuading him that humanity is well worth the saving, even if Q thinks he's above it all.
Here, Spock and Q are somehow given the chance to swap personalities, a bit like the Freaky Friday / Parent Trap template. Spock ends up finding it more liberating than he expected to experience life as the narcissistic "god," and Q decides that maybe logic isn't so dull a subject after all.
Fun and--at times--surprisingly profound for an hour-long audio script!
Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie reprise their most iconic roles respectively as the coldly logical Vulcan Spock and the playful capricious arrogant godlike Q. This continues on almost directly from the previous audio book Spock vs. Q and involves another extended dialogue between the two heavy on broad humour and relatively light light on involved references to Star Trek. It is maybe a bit too broad and silly in its execution, but it is an entertaining production and both actors are a delight to listen to.
The audiobook worked fine on the Android app and was free of the long silences of the previous Spock Vs Q production.
Just like part one, this makes one long for what could have been with a crossover episode of TNG with Q, bringing Spock into it. Not canon, but who cares! LOL
Spock and Q switch personalities, I don't know how, we don't question it, just go with it, it's ridiculous in the very best way and I loved it so much!
If you like Vulcans, you will like this. If you like omnipotent beings playing with the universe, you will like this. If you like both of them, then you will really like this.
Spock and Q debate over humanity's fate. Spock is trying to save them and Q is trying to destroy them. Arguments and laughter (even a Vulcan joke) ensue.
Spock and Q debate again, still within the subject of ecology and the future of the human race. Like the first “Spock vs. Q” the sequel also manages to combine witty and funny dialog with sharp observations and bold statements. Not to mention all the great character stuff.
The second entry in the Spock vs. Q series. Not quite as great as the first one, but still very, very entertaining. Like the first one, this is another go-to for a relaxing Star Trek adventure, where Leonard Nimoy and John DeLancie have fun with their audience.
