Buster isn't fluffy or pretty like other cats—he's a crazy orange cat with attitude. And Mr. Larsen is the exact right person for him. Every morning Buster and Mr. Larsen sit on their porch in the sun, and every morning Josh sees them when he walks to school.
When Mr. Larsen goes to the hospital and Buster goes missing, Josh and his family look for that crazy cat everywhere. But if Buster turns up, Rainbow Street Animal Shelter will have to help him find another home.
That's when Josh and his family realize that—sometimes—life can choose a pet for you.
I’m an author, but I could never have started writing books if I hadn’t loved reading them first. Reading isn’t just one of my favourite things to do; it’s one of the most important things in my life. I can’t imagine a world in which I couldn’t read, every day. That’s why I always read to my children every day, just as my parents used to read to me. Stories can be exciting, sad, funny, scary or comforting, but the most amazing thing about them is that they take us into new worlds and teach us something more about ourselves, all at the same time.
I won this book in a giveaway from the author and I have got to say I loved this book.
It was adorable and very touching. I think it really makes you see how animals feel when it comes to how they're treated. Buster didn't think anyone would love him but he found two families in the end who loved him very much.
When Josh Lee's pet rabbit, Rex, dies Josh deals with the loss of his pet, by spending his time looking for Mr. Larsen's missing pet cat named Buster. Seeking help through the Rainbow Street Shelter, where Mr. Larsen had adopted Buster from, Josh comes up with a plan to get all the help he can finding Buster.
Buster is a special kind of cat - not your friendliest maybe. Certainly independent. But he's also a hero who is missing and needs someone to find him.
This book is so honest in how animals are - never once do I feel like they're being anthropomorphized or cartoonish. Cats are cats. And Buster is certainly very much a cat who reminds me of my own PJ. Perhaps that's why I liked this book so much.
There's some moments of danger - this too is told honestly. The kid who takes the chance is not glorified for doing so. He has some moments of fear as well, so the lesson is a good one. Overall this is an excellent series. Looking forward to reading the next one. :)
Very cute...for any child trying to understand that it is not always easy to lose a pet sometimes life find a pet for you...I am very happy that my daughter brought home this book to share with our family it was a great read in my view. I asked her to look for the other ones cause in my view I think these books show hope for those animals that are very special in there own right.
Rainbow Street Shelter is a wonderful series for independent readers who like animals. Buster is an adorable cat who didn't think anyone would love him, but he found two different owners that did! I am looking forward to the next book in the series about a guinea pig.
Missing! A Cat Called Buster is a well written early chapter book that animal lovers will love. Mr. Larsen's pet cat, Buster, goes missing and Josh makes it his mission to find the cat.
Great read. Even though I knew what was going to happen in the first chapter, I still was compelled to see how it happened. Also, this book made me cry.
