The story jumps right in to Nick being interviewed by hunky police detective Matt following his capture of the man who attacked the elderly neighbourhood grocer. Nick can’t remember much, but insists he’s fine, although takes Matt up on his offer of a drive home. As he gets out of the car he gets dizzy, and Matt insists he goes to the ER to get checked out and even waits around to drive him home.
Before long the two men are “running into each” other all over the place, having coffee, just by coincidence. Of course they both know it’s not, but neither one seems prepared to make a move, until in a moment of stumbling bumbling embarrassment, Matt finally asks Nick out. This is a very cute little short, that while not part of the formal “Got a few minutes?” line at MLR, could belong there.
I really like how there was the slow build-up, the guys were getting to know each other and were attracted, but each a bit unsure about making the first real move. You get to know about Nick’s past experience with an open relationship (that he didn’t know was open, ooops) and Matt’s experiences as well and you sensed that they really liked each other, it wasn’t all just raging hormones, although once they finally get past dancing around each other, that certainly plays a part.
I enjoyed reading about the two guys and smiled more than once at their interactions. The sex when it finally arrives is hot and urgent. When you’re in the mood for a pleasant read about two really nice guys, it’s a perfect choice.
