The blasted man will not stop following her. Well, he isn't following her . . . not exactly. They are just always thrown together, and he is everything she wants but cannot have. It is downright infuriating;especially when he kisses her.

Lady Grace Abernathy has been ravished and left pregnant (and thoroughly unsuitable for any honorable gentleman). This would not be such a gargantuan problem if Lord Alexander Hardwicke would simply stay away from her as she asked. But leave it to her meddling Aunt Dorothea;who means well, of course;to continually thrust the two into each other's company. Against both their wishes. These distractions are almost more than a reasonable lady should be forced to bear, let alone one who is dealing with all the difficulties inherent with both an unwanted pregnancy and a dire lack of a husband.

Alex left London to visit his deceased father's oldest friend, Lord Rotheby, and to get away from his mother and her matchmaking schemes, only to run into more of the same at every turn. Why can he not determine for himself the course his life will take before everyone pushes him to take a wife? But the more time he spends in the company of Lady Grace, the less he finds himself able to ignore his growing attraction;and his burgeoning need to protect her. Must he cause a scandal in order to protect her from one?

I stumbled across this author as I was checking out another author who is similar and Amazon recommended I read this author. Curious I clicked on the link and d/led the sample of her first book Twice a Rake. I gobbled it up in less than an hour and had to buy the book. I just finished her second book Saving Grace and I have found a new favorite author. I loved the line in this blurb: Must he cause a scandal in order to protect her from one? It reeled me in and hasn't let me go since. The idea of causing a scandal in order to protect her was brilliant and she pulled it off flawlessly without veering away from regency standards. I will definetely be checking out her next release.

When I get I get in the mood for a book like this, I usually cannot stop reading until the book is finished. I just could not get in to this book. I keep trying, and I will read for a little while, but it just doesn't hold my attention. I was disappointed, because I was ready for a good escape, but it just left me wishing there was a Julia Quinn novel waiting for me to read.

I don't think saying this is a spoiler, but if you didn't know there was an HEA, I guess it would be: Even the hero says near that end of the book that it all wrapped up a little too easily. Like way too easy. As in 90% of the book built up all of these complications, obstacles, and then it resolved itself in one unconvincing evening. It was like a farcical play in which the villain breaks down out after a mild mannered rebuke, confesses and repents his ways much to everyone's confusion.

The hero and heroine were young. Like not just in years, but in behavior. I couldn't believe that either were in love. They spent so little time together that it was baffling.

It drove me crazy that her rape was referred to as "ravishment" throughout.

Lastly, she is pregnant as a result of the rape. It found it super unrealistic that a total stranger decides he's in love with her after meeting a couple of times and wants to raise her unborn child as his own, making that child, if a male, his heir. It is just super hard to believe in aristocratic circles and, well, with men, let alone men of that era who were so preoccupied with the family line. It's like they blew entirely over the fact this baby would his firstborn heir, a duke's grandson, who would be in line for the dukedom if something happened to his older brother's family.

I gave the first book in this series two stars also. I keep reading them though - the writing itself is quite lovely. My beef is with the details of the plot. I think I just wanted some other more creative resolution for the set-up.

Grace certainly doesn’t have an easy time of it, but then again, she doesn’t make it easy for Alex either! These two do a merry dance around each other, but they keep giving into the attraction between them. Communication is not their strong point, and rules of society keep tripping them up. Only at the last moment, when their passionate natures cannot be contained, does the truth come out fully, and they have their happily-ever-after start!

Okay type of book

The book was just okay. I wouldn’t give it more than that. It wasn’t horrible to read but definitely not a page turner that I couldn’t put down. The characters seemed to have a great deal of depth but the writing itself lacked the ingenuity needed to keep the readers attention.

Alex and Grace are interesting, captivating characters. I enjoyed much of their exchanges and time on page together. Their romance is sweet and fitting for these characters. I enjoyed many of the secondary characters – particularly the Hardwickes and Grace’s aunt and uncle. They added much to the fabric of the story. There were aspects of the story that I wish had been done differently.

I couldn't even finish reading this book. Do not buy horrible. It it started off with a violent rape of A young woman and continues downhill from there. I was just disgusted. I couldn't even get past the first three chapters.

Very Good

I rather liked this. I couldn't wait to finish the book. I do like Aunt and Alex's character is well developed. Grace is given real depth and emotionally believable.
Her Grace is brilliant at the end and His Grace is lined up well for the next instalment.
Great.

The last few chapters were unnecessary

Grace's paranoid Delusional disorder over and over again became very tiresome and very irritating. Before that she was an admirable character.

Lovely

This was a lovely story. The characters were well written and I want to read more about the Hardwicke family members. A few grammatical errors, but nothing too annoying.

Page after page of delicious drama!

Spellbinding twists and turns. A full cast of delightful characters. Two horrid villains and the headstrong Grace. Saved against her will.

Saving grace

I really enjoyed this book, Grace hasn't had an easy time at all, she's living with an alcoholic father who can not stand the sight of her, treats her like a piece of rubbish rather than a daughter,

when barrow has his ultimate revenge on Grace, leaving her very much ruined and alone.

Grace is left with no choice but to flee to the only other family she has, not that they have seen or heard from Grace or her father for many years.

this is where Grace learns love, support and happiness.
this really is a lovely story, as good as the 1st in the series and I'm hoping the next book will be as intriguing

I liked the story and the characters. There were several interesting twists and turns. However, the characters were flat. The story kept switching from her to him and him to her so that we never got a sense of them. When they were together they were always trying to ignore each other. The flow of the background information was so obvious that I thought I was sitting in a history class. It did not meld well with the story.

Lady Grace had a hard childhood and her father was the biggest reason. When she is ravished and gets pregnant she runs away to aunt and uncle's in the country. Grace meets Lord Alexander and knows she needs to keep a distance from him. She doesn't want him to know what has happened to her. Alexander is enthralled with Grace and they always seem to bump into each other. Grace's aunt and Alexander's uncle are matchmaking and will not let anyone deter them. I really enjoyed this story!

I liked this. It was enjoyable most of the time and the characters were annoying some of the time but overall it was a good book. The audio narration was fair. It took me a while to not be irritated by the meek voice of the reader but, once I got past that, it was fine. Really a 3.5 star rating.

Five stars!

I loved this story! I loved how Alex was able to show Grace she was lovable. Also, I really liked Alex's family, how they were so close to each other. Although, I wish I found out what Grace's baby looked like.
