I don't understand. This was a great piece of writing, tautly paced and suspenseful despite its length, engrossing and making its focus a deeply drawing character. Why could Fenris not have been this exciting and personal in canon, instead of constantly being impotently bitter? What a shame.

This was a nice snippet into the life Fenris was living whilst on the run from Danarius — before we meet him in Dragon Age 2. It was very short however, and left me feeling like the story had been cut short.

I wanted to give this a higher rating, because I love all things Dragon Age, but I couldn’t help but think, ‘What’s the point in this?’ I recently read Anders’ short story and it fleshed out his character, giving the reader an explanation as to how and why he became what he is in the period between Dragon Age Origins: Awakening and Dragon Age 2. Although this story was interesting, it did not add to Fenris’ character in any way or give any backstory.

What it did do however was give me an insight into his lyrium ability. I came to understand how it works. Whenever I’ve played the game, I’ve wondered what Fenris is actually doing when he puts his glowing, blue fist inside a person’s chest.

Still, it was a good read and was well written. Check it out if you’re a fellow Dragon Age fan.

This was so short, I'm not really sure what the point of it was? I'm in the middle of reading the Dragon Age Novels and really greatly enjoying them. My only complaint about them is that they time-skip from Pre-Origins to the Inquisition time period, completely missing any content focused on Dragon Age 2, which happens to be the game with my favorite characters. I was pretty hopeful when I realized that there were at least some short stories focusing on the Kirkwall gang. I was aware they would be 'short' but I had still expected more than 2 pages and had hoped for at least a little more plot or character insight. This is fine writing but didn't do much to fulfill my need for more character development for Fenris.

The fact that the whole novel got scrapped when David Gaider left Bioware makes me very sad.

A well-written interesting vignette — full stars for Gaider’s writing for Dragon Age, including the world of Thedas and many wonderful characters, including my favorite, Fenris. ❤️

I'm currently making my way through Dragon Age II and I discovered there were some short prequel stories about the characters in the game. I read this one, but it didn't add anything interesting to Fenris' character in my opinion. This is too short for me to give a rating.
