The lifestyle of a first responder is unique, and finding a partner to share that life with can seem almost impossible.
Life can change in a second
For Kellie Bryant, that moment came the day she found her sister passed out from an apparent overdose in a rat-infested apartment. Knowing she had to provide her three-year-old niece, Rory, a stable home, Kellie retains custody, determined to provide her niece with a better life.
Eventually, life as Rory’s guardian settled into the routine required to survive the ups and downs that come along with being a single parent. But when Deputy Lance Malloy enters the picture, Kellie's life is thrown into emotional turmoil.
Holding onto the words of wisdom his father shared on the day of his graduation from the police academy, Lance searches for a woman who is capable of handling all that comes with being with an officer.
“As hard as it is to be an officer, it’s even harder to be the family waiting at home for his safe return.”
Bumping into Kellie months after being the officer on the scene of an overdose wasn’t something he expected. Lance knew there was something special about her and planned to find out more.
But when tragedy strikes the Springhill Sheriff’s Department, Lance must decide if his career is worth the mental stress it causes not just himself but those he loves.
An emotional story of love, family, duty to serve, and courage to keep going, no matter what the cost.
Kaylee Rose is a mother, sports fan, and contemporary romance author looking to stretch her creative muscles and explore other genres as well.
Inspired by her husband's career in law enforcement, and her passion for the written word, Kaylee began to pen her novels as an escape from the rigors of everyday life. She admits teaching herself the craft of writing has been a tough, but wonderful journey, and is just the creative outlet that she needs. Writing time is her time, and she protects the hard-won moments fiercely.
Kaylee’s series The Weight of the Badge was written after she attended required law enforcement classes with her husband. The seminars focused on the stress a first responder faces daily, how it affects their lives both on and off the job, and the continually growing number of law enforcement suicides. With her books and her experience married to a law enforcement officer, Kaylee found herself armed with the perfect platform to use her voice and subtly spread the statistics others may not know. Kaylee Rose is passionate about sharing sexy stories with an important message mixed in.
Kaylee’s husband is her biggest supporter, believing in her even when she can not, and writing love stories comes naturally to her after falling in love with him at first sight.
This is a hard review to write in between my tears. This book will tear at your heart and you will need a box of kleenex. Kaylee did an excellent job in writing this book. She makes you feel connected to and can relate to Lance, Kellie, Jackson and even Paul. You know some of this stuff happen, but have no idea how people handle it. The book does end as a cliffhanger but it needed to. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Enjoy this wonderful, fantastic emotional book.
Forever Blue
I will say Kaylee Rose has really done an excellent job in keeping you on the edge of your seat and turning pages. The connection between Lance and Kellie is out of sight and then you add in Patricia the ex-girlfriend and her feeling for Lance you have an explosion of emotions. This book does end with a cliffhanger and we will wait patiently for book 3. Enjoy
Out of the Blue: The Weight of the Badge
What a wonderful conclusion to a beautiful, wonderful and emotional story. Kaylee has done a wonderful job in keeping us on our toes and emotional involved and attached to Lance, Kelly, Rory and Trish. You will love the conclusion of this series. Enjoy
I love this series! The way Ms. Kaylee Rose brought the mix of emotions of both main characters to the forefront in every situation, had me locked into the story. I fell in love with the characters—hated some of them—and felt the love, passion, and sadness of everyone involved in the drama surrounding the story. I highly recommend it!
This series was so good. You must read them in order. Kelli and Lance have a tough journey. These books will have you feeling all the emotions. I highly recommend!!
I would give -1 stars if possible. This 3-book series could have easily been one. Most of the characters were unlikeable. Lance definitely did not have the temperament to be a cop - real uncontrolled anger issues and completely insubordination. Kellie was a wishy-washy character as well. Cory was the only bright spot in this whole mess. I kept reading only to see how things played out. I'll never read anything by this author again. Glad it was a free KU read. Don't waste your time.!
What a great story with lots of ups and downs. You will cry but the ending is the best. This love of Lance and Kellie was strong and even the things they endured could not separate them. They were great characters, well written and the supporting characters were too!!
Lance and Kelly do have a happily ever after but I cried all through this book. If you like your heart strings plucked tightly to the breaking point, I highly recommend this book. Well written with good banter between the main characters, lots of action and on the edge happenings. Thank you Kaylee Rose for a great Boys in Blue story.
Not sure if it was just me or not, but I laughed, cried and everything I between reading Lance and Kellie's story. The love and heartache they go through is just amazing.
This book was full of ups and downs. I loved it. It made me cry. It made me laugh. It helps you understand what what the officers go through. Well written, thank you.
Absolutely nothing happened until the cliffhanger at the end of the last chapter and what did happen was just stupid. I didn't bother with the rest of the series.
Bought this on a whim after reading preview on Facebook. Absolutely a great series. Would definitely recommend it as a tearjerker that will clear your sinuses.
