C. L. Parker is a romance author who writes stories that sizzle. She’s a small-town girl with big-city dreams and enough tenacity to see them come to fruition. Having been the outgoing sort for all her life—which translates to “she just wouldn’t shut the hell up”—it’s no wonder Parker eventually turned to writing as a way to let her voice, and those of the people living inside her head, be heard. She loves hard, laughs until it hurts, and lives like there’s no tomorrow. In her world, everything truly does happen for a reason.

Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson – LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha]:
Supernova is a beautifully woven tapestry of storytelling, with past, present, and future threads overlapping wonderfully.

The characters, both main and supporting, are easy to attune to, making it virtually impossible not to love or hate them as C.L intended.

Kerrigan is a strong female lead who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to obtain it. She’s thrown in a world of craziness after a devastating loss and handles it like a pro.

Dominic is *sigh* the perfect guy. Tough, sensitive, virile, drop-dead-gorgeous, and not afraid to give his heart and soul to the one who deserves it.

Gabe, Kerrigan’s best friend, is the funniest character I have ever come across in a written work. He’s completely hilarious and you will find yourself needing to know what he might do or say next, but he’s also loyal to a fault, a trait endearing in itself..

The emotion of the tale was gripping and real - even in a Fantasy setting - and lent well to immersing the reader in the character’s lives and their mystery.

With just enough mystery, suspense, intrigue, romance and wit to keep you reading and wanting more, Supernova is a wonderful addition to the ranks of Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy alike.

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Supernova 4 Skulls, and would recommend it to Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy readers far and wide, and anyone who wants a fresh take on the paranormal genre.

I would have loved to have given it more than 4 Skulls, but having met, gotten to know, conversed with, and seen other written works by C.L over the past 9 months, I feel that she could have given just a little bit more in certain areas of the book. Whether or not the decision not to was hers or someone else’s I’m not sure, but what I am sure of, is that I’m dying to read Cataclysm, Book #2 of the Supernova Saga, because I have a feeling that I won’t feel this way at all with the next installment. :-)

I was very pleased to be able to review this book. I met C.L. and her sister a little over a year ago at a JR Ward signing. At that time she was writing at Fan Fiction. As we stood in line her sister beamed with pride and proclaimed that one day...her sister would have a book of her own. True to her words, next JR Ward signing I see her and yell "Hey! Remember me?" She then says "Yes" and proceeds to announce her new book. That's when I tell her about my book blog and hear you have the making of a book/blog marriage. LOL

I did not know what to expect upon reading Supernova. When you're out and about meeting new people you can run into all kinds of nut jobs, but I was very surprised. An ORIGINAL concept. Which says a lot since I am kind of downing myself. (I still like to write about the Vamps, Faes and Weres.) You can imagine how excited I was to read this story. I enjoyed it. I truly did.

So here is what the synopsis does not tell you:

C.L Parker writes a very descriptive story. Her words envelops you and makes you feel as if you are right there, bringing your senses to life, along with the characters.

Not only is this book refreshing with it's new ideas. It is also comical. This comes with the use of her "Sassy Gay Character" Gabe. I found myself several times having a genuine chuckle over his antics and phrases.

Kerrigan and Dominic are totally believable characters whose lives has been thrown together. I loved their interaction with one another. The story is quite the tease, and I loved it. I am looking forward to more stories from C.L. Parker.

The title for this book pretty much says it all when it comes to this story.

Def. Supernova: A rare celestial phenomenon involving the explosion of most of the material in a star, resulting in an extremely bright short-lived object that emits vast amount of energy.

That definition fits this book so well, Supernova by C.L. Parker is defiantly a bright star and has so much energy and suspense in it. The story line flows perfectly and I must say it explodes with comedy in the perfect places.

I love C.L. Parkers writing style its one that is defiantly her own. I don't want to give any of this story away because its so good that I want you to read it on your own. But I must say the plot grabs you and keeps you even after you have finished the story. I would have to say Gabe is my favorite character in this book. I know your probably wondering why I didn't say Dominic, I mean he is the hot sexy guy right? Well Gabe is the funny one that gets to say what ever he wants when he wants and I love that about him.

Supernova is an amazing book and I can't wait to read more from this fabulous author.

Honestly I wanted to love this book...It had so much potential but it ended up being a disappointment. The story is about Kerrigan who is a Guardian of Light or whatever that means. The author doesn't go into details on exactly what Kerrigan can do which made the book that much worse. The book kept dragging for me with the constant make out sessions between Dominic and Kerrigan- it's like fu*k do it already and let's get on with the story. Kerrigan's friend Gabe was such a cliche with the whole "oh I'm so gay and fabulous" and none of the other characters made any good impression on me. Basically, a lot of silly dialogue and reference to sex but no action. I kept waiting for something to happen..anything!!! Finally 80% into the story something happens and within a chapter it's all back to gay and fabulous. Seriously?! Blah! What a waste of 10 bucks, probably won't read the next book unless it's like $.99.

"I wasn't going to kiss you, silly girl. I was going to ravish you."

Oh...Dominic..you sure as hell can ravish me!!! Haha!
This was a great read. I really liked Kerrigan. While finding out crazy new stuff about herself, she didn't freak out or cower and give up. Dominic was cute insanely hot. Plays guitar, always brooding, drives a 1970 Barracuda, and has a dark secret.
Oh, and I loved Gabe, he kept me cracking up and has GOT to be the ultimate diva.

I met CL on Facebook and decided that her personality alone made me want to read this book. All I can say is thank god I trusted my feelings about her. This book is fantastic. I felt like I was right there in the story with Kerrigan and Dominic. I also fell in love with Gabe. I have many friends like him. The story overall was extremely well written. I loved the way she built the characters. I am on to the next book now and can't wait for the third. I highly recommend this whole series to everyone whether you like paranormal or not. You will fall in love with this story.

This debut book was a breath of fresh air--no vamps, no weres, no witches...well...maybe some of you may see similarities and think this is about black magic, but that really isn’t what the story is about.

Kerrigan Cruz, only daughter to Hudson and Priscilla, has a disturbing dream the night that her Grammy Availia dies. It is also the eve of her twenty-fourth birthday and her life is about to change forever. Tired of living under the controlling thumb of her military father, and her extremely nauseating boyfriend, Jackson Knoff...yep...go ahead and laugh...This slime-ball has a wicked case of halitosis that has Kerrigan wishing he would eat a tic-tac. Not to mention, he has failed to give her an earth-shattering "O". In fact, not even a tee-tiny one.

Kerrigan relocates to St. Augustine, Florida - the oldest city in the U.S., and home to the infamous Fountain of Youth - to live in her Grammy’s home. Along with her best friend, Gabriel Baxter - her very gay friend who provides some wacky moments in this book and will have you laughing your butt off in some parts. Gabe has no filter for his deviant mind, and considers himself an expert in all that is ‘DIVA.’ He is a wonderfully, interesting secondary character that pesters his way into your heart and sits down for a spell. Whether you want him to or not. LOL.

Enter Dominic Grayson. Sigh. A drool-worthy man who sets Kerrigan’s world off kilter from their first encounter. He dons button-fly jeans, goes commando, and wears snug fitting tees that sport the logo of classic rock bands. But that is not what makes my legs feel like a wet noodle and my toes curl. It’s the fact that he plays the acoustic guitar. And he does it so sexily--

'He stuck his chin out and sang with closed eyes. He felt every word he sang like they were a map to his soul....She wanted to lick the defined lines of the flexing tendons in his forearms. But most of all, she wanted to let her lips hover over his to feel them moving to form the words, inhale the breath of each lyric he sang, and taste the lust that spilled forth from the cavern of sin.'

Dominic has a secret---a HUGE secret, that he’s afraid to tell Kerrigan about. This secret could put a stop to their delicate relationship. Dominic doesn’t want to lose Kerrigan and holds back a major part of himself that threatens the fragile bonds that tether them as one. He fights his growing, mutual attraction and leaves Kerrigan a very, very, frustrated woman.

There is plenty of UST in this book--much to my chagrin...heheeheh...-but the wait is SO worth it. Let’s face it. This southern gal knows how to write a smokin’ sex scene like nobody’s business. I will NOT post a spoiler here of that. You.must.read.it.

What had my stomach all in knots while reading this very visual and intimate scene, was the emotional wallop that C.L. delivers during it. She paints such a vivid picture that is filled with raw emotions--not just the actions of the two lovers, but something that goes much deeper.

There are twists and turns in the story and questions that are still left unanswered-Thank GAWD, this is just the first book of three. That’s right, this is a saga. So, have I done my job and hooked you yet? I sure hope so. Because I have a tingly spidey sense that indicates this won’t be the last time we see this awesome newbie to the paranormal genre.

I don’t want to give away too much. Why in the he** would you read, if I did that? Snort.

But I must give you another taste....
'His body sang to hers, an erotic composition of desire vibrating through every fiber of her being. She wanted to get lost in the alluring crescendos of each breath he took, and float like a feather on each exhalation he released.'

I have swooned....once again...just writing that.

My honest rating of this book is 4 Stars...I have read other stories by her and know just what she is capable of. She has blown me away so many times with the power of her words. However, there are some areas that I believe she could have built upon, but for whatever reason, didn’t.

These few weak spots are my opinion. I stress that because I know what my girl can do. She knows it too. We have discussed the couple scenes that I am referring to, and she agreed. She also put the blame and shame on me, saying had I agreed to pre-read for her, I would have called her out on it, and she would have fixed it before it went to print. See? We tell it like we see it ;)

Also, not every reader thinks the same about a story. That’s the brilliant thing about writing--you grow as you go. And because of that, I know that C.L. Parker will no doubt develop into a fantastic author. She’s already well on her way.

Supernova has such wonderful pacing--you are on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns of a well-developed plot. She adheres to her characters’ true nature and you aren’t left saying, “WTF?” Overall, I love Dominic and Kerrigan, and I am looking forward to the next book.

OH.MY.GOD !!!! Gatita has most absolutely and indefinitely got my tongue on this one ! This is HOTNESS personified !!
Supernova is the story of Kerrigan , a girl born as the ' Guardian of light ' . Now you must be thinking , oh a guardian of light born to
eradicate darkness and all that jazz .. Well well let me tell you Supernova and Kerrigan's power has nothing to do with the kind of light you are assuming it to be .This ' light ' refers to a persons free will or willingness . I know its too much for you to understand it right now , but trust me you'll get a clear view of what i'm trying to tell you when you read the book . Its also the story of Dominic , a guy touchedby darkness and light alike . But Dominic has a secret , a curse that has changed his views about life and love . What is that curse , can Kerrigan help him , can she be the light that can take away his darkness ?? To get the answer to all these questions , you will most simply have to read the awesomness that this book is ..

Cover thoughts - Can it get any more prettier ?!! Well maybe prettier maynot exactly be the word , but what the heck , i really love this
cover . The simplicity of it is what makes it so loving . The crystal blue cat shaped eyes - ooohhh so pretty !!

Well , where do i start describing how good this book was - actually 'good ' would be an understatement here .. Epic could be the word i'm looking for . Loved every single aspect of it , right from the plot to the develpement of the story to the characters involved - everything is scripted and wriiten so beautifully , the emotions woven so intricately it - i laughed out loud , rolled my eyes , snorted out , shed a few tears , oooh'ed and aah'ed , blushed , gasped , sighed , had my jaws dropped etc etc .
The characters were very aptly sketched . They had a sense of realism to them . Kerrigan was such a joy to know. I've seen a lot of female characters going all crazy when they find out that they have a purpose to live upto in a lot of books . They go around eating everyone's brains out asking mundane questions , but Kerrigan was'nt anything like that . She accepted who she was and took in her responsibilty easily .Dominic on the other hand was someone who made me cry my heart out . The things he endured and the consequences of it all that he has to love with really broke my heart . But my ultimate fav character had to be Gabe - oh my god , he's soooo sickly funny .. I was laughing my ass out all the time he said something really wicked and funny .. You have to read to believe the kind of things he says ..
Oh and not to forget Kerrigans and Dominic relationship - wooohoooo , steamy !! They are just so full of teases ... HAWT !!
On the whole , a very exciting , thrilling ride , i cant wait to dig my nails into Cataclysm - book 2 in the Supernova series ...
Be sure to check this out , you'll definitely enjoy it !!
I cant complete this review without a healthy dose of Gabe-ism , so here goes :
Gabe stepped up behind Kerrigan and looked over Dominic suggestively . " Oh well hell-lo there , Mr. Make-My-Uterus-Drop."
Kerrigan rolled her eyes at her best friend . " Gabe, how many times do we have to go over this ? You do not have a uterus ."
" Prove it bitch," he snapped back at her , knowing she could'nt . " Where are your manners ? Introduce me to my future baby daddy , girl."

Ok, take this as your gush-alert because I loved this book… remember - You. Have. Been. Warned!

Where should I even start? The characters? Sure thing! Let me start with the character that gets the award for being so damn funny that I laughed out loud for much of this novel. If you’ve read Supernova you know that I am talking about Gabe. Talk about a hilarious, diva character. Gabe added some welcome comic relief and a few “I cannot believe he said that” gasps. Parker did a fabulous job of creating a character that I could see so vividly that I had to remind myself that Gabe was only a character and not someone that I know in real life!

Kerrigan – she started out as a weak and timid girl who was too afraid of her father and what he would think of her to stand on her own two feet and she really pissed me off! I can’t tell you how excited I was when she finally started standing up for herself and the things that she wanted in her life. On more than one occasion I could find myself sitting in my favourite reading chair fist pumping the air with excitement when she called someone out on their crap.

Dominic – three words: holy smokin’ hot. I have a complete crush on Dominic (please don’t tell my husband!) from his fierce green eyes down to his Levi’s 501 button fly jeans. Add too his smoldering description, his fierce protective nature, his genuine sweetness and his sense of humor and you have a winning combination!

Now let me gush a little more about Parker’s ability to make you actually feel the characters she is writing about. If you have spent much time around Hands and Home you know that I live for vivid and intimate character descriptions. If I don’t feel like I know the characters I really can’t get all that invested in their stories. Like I said with Gabe, I really do have to remind myself that this is a novel and not a story of people that I know in real life. Everything from Kerrigan’s grandmother’s house, the awful breath of her boyfriend, the tension between Kerrigan and Dominic, and even the colour of Gabe’s Bubbletinis was so fabulously described that I felt like I was sitting around the kitchen in Kerrigan’s house!

Of course I loved the characters, but I also loved the story line and the twists. I thought that Supernova was a great change of pace from what I have been reading lately and really appreciated all aspects of this novel. I loved the connection between Kerrigan and her Grandmother and found the way that Kerrigan’s gift manifested to be quite interesting. However I do think that there was room to explore this in more detail, especially since it played such a huge role in the book and I hope to read more about it in the next novel of the Supernova Saga.

C.L. Parker wrote a book that I actually felt I was a part of. The characters felt so real to me, they could have been my own friends. I thoroughly enjoyed Supernova and I can’t wait to see what Parker comes up with next.

I haven't prepared a well thought out book review since college. Rarely a book grabs ahold of you in a way that makes you want to race to the nearest roof top shouting, "You MUST read this friggin book!" Supernova, was this kind of book for me. Many times a paranormal book is all balls to the wall, so-to-speak, as far as the storyline goes, leaving you wondering just what the hell happened. Or, the complete opposite is true. It takes so long for the climax, you're left thinking, "Really, that's it? That could have been said in oh 5 chapters." Not so with this book.

Supernova not only is well paced from beginning to end, the intricacy of the storyline is what keeps you from putting the darn thing down. One thing that can make a romance story unbelievable and cliche' is the forced, love-at-first-site heroine and the lover that stole her heart from the word go. CL Parker did an AMAZING job of making Kerrigan and Dominic's relationship, and later love, a believable, emotional roller-coaster ride...one you don't want to get off of. With Dominic's "problem" and Kerrigan's naivety of what's really going on has you angry, sad and jumping for joy when the two can finally put that all aside and come together. Dominic, by the way, is HOT, HOT, HOT and at the top of my list of literary boyfriends.

And Gabe. One can NOT forget Gay Gabe. He is a force to be reckoned with for sure. At first, I thought, "Wow, I can't believe he said that!" and then I was wishing he'd crawl out of the pages and go shopping with me for a day just so I could be witness to a real day with him. His charater is by far hands down, the funniest I have ever read...and I've read a lot. Many times he had me literally laughing out loud! It's not just his charisma and diva charm that will have you loving him, but his fierce protection for his BFF, Kerrigan Priceless!

There are too many great things to mention all in a few paragraphed review, but truly this book has it all. It'll leave you screaming and wishing you could strangle Kerrigan's fiance. You'll cry with Kerrigan when she loses her grandmother, thankful for the neighbor friends and wanting to knock Kerrigan and Dominic's heads together, just so they could see what's so obvious to you, the reader.

Drama, love, romance, heartache, trials, tribulations, suspense, evil, witches, magic and ghosts oh my! Well done Miss Parker. I will definitely be following this author :)

ya know, i left an Amazon review and i would sure hate for CL to get a big head and all, but i LOVED this book. i got the ebook version but i wanted to read it while relaxing in a bubble bath (one of my few luxuries with five boys! that is if you count MY "gabe" KELLY, whom we've always called by his middle name JOSHUA but was destined from birth to BE kelly LOL). Moving right along, ahem, i decided to print out just a few of chapters to read in the tub. but when i was done with them, i still had bubbles and the water was still warm and all was still quiet on the testosterone front. groaning as i grabbed my robe, i dripped over to the pc and printed a few chapters more. but then the water got cold and my skin got wrinkly and the hubs was asleep and i wanted to write... but i wanted to keep reading even more.

Parker's characters are entertaining and contemporary. hell, i'm forty(ish) and that's how i partied with my friends--except we were all teen moms so our kids were either occupied with each other or with a sitter. the dialogue is witty, even hilarious at times, but also undeniably sensual between the protagonists and you just wanna go, "Uuhh!" My husband heard me cracking up in the tub over gabe's antics at one point and asked if i was ok.

A few chapters later, i asked him to join me. This woman can WRITE in a way that sucks you in. I finished this book in a day and a half and was eager to start CATACLYSM. Alas the holidays intervened and i had to be wife and mom with only a little bit of author snuck in. there has been no reading for fun the last few weeks and now even though i've been working on MY next book, i think, in a few days when the tax deductions return to school, i will take a little extra break to read it cover to cover.

Of course, if it's anything like SUPERNOVA, i probably won't be able to help myself anyway.

I read the 9 page teaser you released. Although I am totally a ff girl, I have read everything you have released. This was no different than anything else. I was completely captured. I wanted to keep reading and pouted when I reached the end of the 9 pages. I immediately ordered the book.

Giggled at the appearance of Gabe and those memorizing Green eyes.....swoon.!!

Cannot wait to get the rest in a few weeks !

UPDATE - FINISHED: I promised I would read this while on vacation and that is exactly what I did. I want to leave a spoiler-free review, so I will attempt at trying to do that and convey my feelings as well.

There is so much character development, which I am use to from this author. There are characters that you will love and laugh at and some you will hate and despise.

I am glad that this will be a saga because I would not have been satisfied for it to have ended there. It felt like as soon as I was getting into the story, it was the end. The book is good, there is no doubt about that, I just wanted so much more. It has been a really long time since I have read a book and have no idea what a normal book length consists of, but at 18 chp this felt like it was just getting started. (Need book #2!)

I knew this was supposedly "toned" down from her normal writing style and she achieves that well. There is a build up of ust that kept me satisfied and yearning for more. Today I give this book to my mother, an avid book reader that I have yet to turn on to the ff world. She likes the feel of a book in her hands and not a kindle nor a computer. It will be nice to have one to discuss together after she finishes it. I am sure she will complete in a day or two.

CLP - you did good on your first release and I anxiously await book #2.

Ok, where to start?? I put off reading this book for some reason. Don't know whether I was afraid that I wouldn't like it, and disappoint my facebook friend, CL Parker, or what, but I finally just picked it up and read it. Once I started, though, I had trouble putting it down! I loved it - the feelings between Kerrigan and her grandmother touched something in me. Both of my grandmothers are gone, but I was closer to one of them, and this book reminded of that time when we were close. The love between Kerrigan and Dominic was undeniable - love at first sight was truly the lightning bolt that hit both of them when they met. Sure, there were eye-rolling moments when 'his manly scent' washed over Kerrigan, but CL has a talent for drawing a mental picture that is rare among authors. She describes the action so well that you see it like a movie... She pays attention to detail, and that comes across in every scene. It may cause a problem when the movie inspired by the series is made (no doubt that it could happen), because everyone will have a very clearly defined picture of what Kerrigan and Dominic look like.

If you're putting off reading Supernova and Cataclysm for any reason, stop it! Pick up Supernova today, and enjoy the off-the-chain antics of Gabe, the over-the-top gay bestie of Kerrigan. You'll find yourself laughing out loud! This is an unusual story - unique and fresh in the world of Paranormal Romance.

Supernova is a fun mix of genres; paranormal, romance, action, adventure, and comedy! I love a book and an author that doesn't take itself too seriously. The storyline flows rather well, it's not an incredibly unique plot, but it does have a couple twists to keep the reader guessing.

I think the strongest part of this novel is the characters. C.L. Parker does a wonderful job in fleshing them out and making them feel real. Some of my favorite scenes were when all the friends were just goofing around. Kerrigan and Dominic's relationship feels real and powerful, and things get very emotional when they both are willing to give their life for the other.

It was obvious by the ending of the book that C.L. Parker plans to write a sequel. I'll definitely be reading it, I'd love to visit all of these characters again!

Originally posted at Read Me Bookmark Me Love Me

I had the pleasure of reading the first chapter of Supernova before I was sent the entire book and I absolutely loved that we were able to jump into the action immediately. The story begins with Kerrigan having a dream of herself as a young child, watching her Grammie, Availia, be attacked by vicious ravens. It's shown here that Kerrigan has some sort of ability linked to the Light and no further elaboration about this is made. The cryptic and eerie dream compels you to want more as Kerrigan wakes up to reality as a woman in her mid-twenties.

On her journey to discover herself, Kerrigan finds herself living at her, now deceased, Grammie's house with a certain Dominic Grayson, a mysteriously sexy man who knows a surprising amount about herself and her grandmother. He seems to be keeping secrets but she can't help but be drawn towards him. Throughout the novel we are rewarded with witty banter and sexual tension between the two, both ultimately leading up to a carefully guarded but present relationship. I enjoyed the way their relationship developed as their love grew little by little and realistically. Both characters are quite likeable, Kerrigan being a feisty vixen and Dominic being alluring with his looks and dark background. Kerrigan's best friend, Gabe, is gay and he's quite the character! At times he was a little too flamboyant for my liking but otherwise, he was thoroughly entertaining. There are several minor characters in the novel that I wish we could've gotten to know better, so I'm looking forward to these characters being built on in the sequel!

The novel explores Kerrigan's life as she struggles to make sense of her relationship with Dominic and her power. We later learn that someone dangerous is after Dominic and Kerrigan must learn to harness her power in order to save him. The middle section of the novel moves a little slowly, though still interesting. The one problem I had with this novel in the first half was that everything was loosely tied together and seemed to occur spontaneously. I'm not sure whether I was just having an off day, but I enjoyed the second half much more. The characters become three-dimensional, relationships are explained and more solid, the writing matures and the plot thickens. Everything seems to finally come together and make sense, the climax of the novel quickly approaching. The suspense builds and we're met with exciting action as the protagonist reveals themselves.

Supernova ends, leaving us with many questions and a great cliffhanger to start the sequel with. The conclusion is very satisfying and I look forward to reading more of this series. I'm hoping to see the Light explored more, as it wasn't predominant and explored enough in my opinion, as well as Dominic's history. Overall, this was an great debut novel by C.L. Parker. The romance is sure to get your blood pumping!

A couple of days ago I reviewed C.L. Parker's book Cataclysm, which is actually the sequel to this book, Supernova. I was a part of the book tour so unfortunately my time ran out and I was unable to put up the review for Supernova up first. But I didn't want to just not review it, so here is the review, a few days late.

I really enjoy Parker's writing, she really does a great job of taking the reader along this journey with the main characters, and really lets the reader get to know the main players of the book. This book is book one in the series, so a lot of time is spent on really getting to know the characters and their respective back stories.

Kerrigan is a girl who it seems like for much of her life has let herself be pulled in whatever direction her father deemed correct, and unfortunately part of that lead to her dating a man named Jackson. You quickly learn this guy is bad news, creepy, and gross. Parker's description of this guys breath alone made me want to cringe. When Kerrigan's grandmother dies though, she finds the strength to stand up for herself and ditch the loser. She and her best gay friend Gabe move into her grandmother's house and essential start a new life.

Which brings us to Dominic, the man who has been living at Kerrigan's grandmother's house for over a year. As you get to know Dominic you find out what a tortured life he really has had. If anyone has ever gotten the short end of the stick for a long period of time, it's Dominic. That's not to say that he isn't a good guy, in fact as the story progresses Dominic turns out to be a great help to Kerrigan.

Most of this story is about Kerrigan finding out that her grandmother was much more than just a sweet old lady. In fact her grandmother had powers, powers from the Light, which she used for good. And even more shocking is that Kerrigan herself also has these same gifts. But now that her grandmother has passed, Kerrigan is left to learning her new gifts from Dominic.

That's not to say that the story is not inciting to read. Dominic has a BIG secret he is keeping from everyone, and there are quite a lot of close calls where he is almost revealed. On top of that Dominic also has a past with a crazy ex girlfriend that comes back around. Kerrigan, who doesn't seemingly have a lot of the problems in this book, is more like a catalyst, and helps the story along the way. And the chemistry between Dominic and Kerrigan is not to be missed, it is definitely interesting to follow these two along the way.

Overall this was a good read, if I had one bone to pick I would say it did lag a couple of times during the book, but it was never a huge lag or anything like that. I would say this is a book paranormal romance readers would like, as well as people who like urban fantasy. And it is a great lead in into the second book which I would also recommend.

I'm almost out of words to describe this book.
It's absolutely out of this world. The author, besides being a wonderful human being, is one of the most talented writters I have ever had the plesure to read.
Her story is full of everything you'll ever look in a book. It has romance, humor, suspence, accion, a little bit of drama, it's emotional, and when you finish it, lefts you wanting more and anxious for the next book.
You'll never feel the characters are incomplete or not real. You'll believe the story and feel like you are part of it. You'll want to be part of it.
It's a story about love, friendship, compromise, discovering yourself and the hard decitions sometimes you have to make in life.

Believe me when I say this is a MUST!

What on earth could I say that would accurately describe the awesomeness of this book? Not only was it beautifully written, but I became incredibly attached to the main characters. I cared about them, and that's when you know you have a good book on your hands.

Gabe was amazing, as always. I loved his comedy throughout the book. It helped break up some of the seriousness.

This book was fantasic, well written, belivable, and all sorts of exciting. If you haven't read this yet, I encourage you to do so quickly. You will not be disappointed.

For the first book of a series, this one is Great! The two lead characters are Kerrigan and Dominic will draw you in with their story. Add in some fun secondary characters and you have a emotion filled book to dive into.

You will not regret reading this book, but be warned, these books are addictive!!

CL has the most amazing way of describing in such a way that not only do you feel like you are in the story, but feel the emotions of the characters as well! Can't wait for the next installation of the Saga!

Love it!!!

Oh my gosh, where to begin?? Probably best to say up front – I LOVED THIS BOOK!! It has exactly what I look for in a 5-star story: a strong, intelligent, female lead – who is secure enough in herself to not get her back up against the wall if a man tries to take care of her; a compassionate, protective, (and most importantly) smokin’ hawt, male lead – who has a dark secret, which must be uncovered in order to save him; add in barely-contained sexual tension (with an oh-so-delicious-pay-off-that-is-well-worth-the-wait); plus an over-the-top supporting character for a bit of comedic relief and Voilà! you have the recipe for one kick ass story. Of course, this would all be nothing more than fodder without C.L. Parker’s remarkable talent to bring her characters to life. She makes you feel a part of their journey of discovery and leaves you within a book you simply cannot put down.

The story begins with a bang –or rather crack of thunder– capturing your imagination straight off. Although I must admit, at first Kerrigan did work my very last nerve by allowing her father and her (gag) boyfriend to control her life. (And let me just say that the nauseating description of the boyfriend’s breath is one time I could’ve done without C.L.’s exceptional talent for descriptive narrative – ewwww!) But once Kerrigan finally had enough and took charge of her own destiny, she became a character you could get behind . . . or possibly shove out of the way to get at Dominic *swoon* the perfect man. He’s drop-dead gorgeous with a giving, beautiful soul he can pour out to you through music. Seriously, what more could you want?? Or more importantly where can I find one??

The only problem I had with the story were the few times I felt it needed to be a bit more forth-coming with details. But seeing as this is a trilogy and has two books to go, those instances could’ve been left that way in order not to ruin future plot points. This is why, despite those few gaps, I gave it 5-stars. Actually, that is only one of the reasons; the other being Gabe, one of the best secondary characters ever written. Now I know some people find his personality over-the-top, but for those of us who actually have a filter-less diva in our lives, we can appreciate and love him just as he is . . . F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S *snap*

Supernova is a definite must-read for anyone who loves this genre. You live, laugh, and love with these characters from the first page to the last. There’s action and adventure, mystery and suspense, and a twist at every turn. All wrapped up nicely inside a paranormal romance with a wicked sense of humour.

Huge CONGRATS to C.L. Parker for a job well done on her debut novel. Way to go, bb. xx And anyone looking for a laugh, you should definitely be following her on Twitter and Facebook – though be forewarned she’s as filter-less as Gabe, and nearly as divalicious. ;-P

(SIDE NOTE) To be certain there is no confusion, when I said above it’s “a book you simply cannot put down” – I mean it! I know according to my TL it appears it took me 10 months to read this book; in actuality, I did it in one sitting. My TL is a bit wonky due to a prolonged hospital stay. Just didn’t want anyone getting the wrong idea.

I absolutely LOVED this book!! I now see why everyone gushes over it - yes, I am a believer!! I've had it on my Kindle for a while but just decided yesterday morning to start it, and I didn't stop until I had finished the book last night! It was an amazingly engaging and easy read with just the right amount of magic and romance! And when I say romance, I mean romance, not sex, which is really nice for a change of pace sometimes. Don't get me wrong - there was some really hot, very sexy sex, and I don't want to say more because I am very anti-spoiler, but leading up to the hot, sexy sex was a lot of hot, sexy foreplay! It was fun and playful and hot and steamy all at the same time!

The characters in this book were fleshed out so well that I could imagine being friends with them in real life. I felt like I really knew them, which is extremely awesome when you are reading a great book! The two main characters were Kerrigan Cruz and Dominic Grayson, and they were so cute together that I was a little bit jealous of Kerrigan! I want a Grayson of my own, damn it! Kerrigan's best friend Gabe is gay and very, very proud of it:) He's so much fun, but he's also fiercely protective of his Kerr Bear and would kill anybody who hurt her. Then there are the two girls that live next door and their boyfriends, who are a great support system for the others.

This book moved along at a great pace, as evidenced by my being able to read it in one day even with all the interruptions that having a full household will cause. It is definitely one of my new favorite reads of 2011, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes magic and romance, with a little bit of spicy sex appeal thrown in for fun, and a very HAWT hero!! I can't wait to read the next book in what I'm sure is going to be a great series :D

4.5 stars. I've gone about this all wrong because I read this after I had read the sequel, Cataclysm, but the sequel stood alone well and now I've been able to fill in the gaps in my knowledge of Kerrigan and Dominic's relationship. And what a hot relationship it is! From their first meeting the UST was off the chart, and I so love that in a book. The way they worked together to learn about her new powers and fight the bad guys at the end revealed such a tender relationship that it's hard not to fall in love with Dominic just a little bit.

The secondary characters are great, too. Gabe was again hilarious - in my head he is Lafayette from True Blood, even though he is meant to be white here - and it was nice to see more of Availia than in the second book. I also loved the little references to things which made me smile, like Twilight and the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

A few things grated on me at times (which is why this isn't a 5-star read for me), such as several typos and the sometimes rapidly shifting points-of-view from one person's head to another, but they weren't enough to deduct a whole star. Dominic makes up for all of that with his swoonworthiness. This is a great debut novel and I highly recommend the sequel. Roll on the third book!

This wasn't what I expected. I had some expectations that were very, very wrong, the main being that this is NOT a YA book. Thanks, tags.

It was literally 224 pages of uneventfulness seeing as the 'plot' was non-existent, contrary to the blurb that got me interested in the first place. Instead, I experienced an unending stream of tedious filler content about fluffy nothing because the story kept deviating away from the central conflict until the final pages.

The romance was tacky and insta-lovey and even worse, I hated that the sexual tension between the main characters dominated the entire book.

And oh my God, the protagonist's best friend... has there ever been a worse character? Think flamboyant, multiplied by infinity-- he can't keep his mouth shut, hits on everyone, and in general, came off as rude to me although thr author attempts to showcase his obnoxious personality as 'funny'. Yeah, no. I can't help but feel that he's an overly exaggerated, silly representation of a gay man.

The whole book was dumb and a waste of time.

It's times like these I wish Goodreads let us give 1/2 stars. I really want to give Supernova 4 1/2 stars.

There are so many good things in this book - Kerrigan, when she wises up is very likeable. Dominic is oh so sexy! and Gabe... well, what can I say? He trully steals the spotlight whenever he is on the page, everyone should have someone like him in their lives. That one person who will gladly call a spade a spade & not apologize for it but will fight with & for you to the bitter end.

I had no idea what to expect from this book but I thoroughly enjoyed Cl's storytelling. I'm really loking forward to finding out what happens in the next part of the story!

The sequel, Cataclysm, is out now and the final part of the trilogy, Nexus, follows next September.

There are deleted scenes from Cataclysm posted on Cl's website if you want to try her writing for yourself. They are a little ummm spicy? so be warned!

Great story. I liked characters a lot. Dominic was smoking hot. Though I found my self wondering at times how a 24 year old guy has so much game. I guess I tend to think more of that would come in to his mid thirties. But oh well, its fiction. And Kerrigan was good, but I didn't love her all the time. Gabe was awesome and kept the smiles coming. Half the time he would pop off with this crazy remark, and I'd think "oh, no, he didn't ..." He's funny. period. He reminds me sooooo much of Lafayette 's TV character on HBOs TrueBlood. Its almost errie.

Anyway good book. Over priced on Amazon. In fact I'm currently holding out on buying it in principal before downloading the next one. 275 pages each and they cost $9.99 each. That's just wrong. Although I'm afraid I am the only one noticing or feeling the effects of my own protests. I like these books. I'm sure I'll cave soon on buying it...
