This is solid silly fun? It's slightly dated in language and tone, but my kid is fine with that. It's a good enough idea: a moose has a really big mustache and does his best figuring out how to groom it. The book is a little too wordy, and there's an unnecessary wedding at the end (media in the 90s was obsessed with telling kids to get married), but it's harmless enough. And it's fun to say moosestache a lot!

I am a sucker for alliteration and that is exactly what makes this book so much fun to read aloud. This was always one of my daughter's favorite bed time books.

Moosetache was a childhood favorite for me. The writing and illustrations work together perfectly to make a hilarious story that I can read over and over again without ever getting tired of it. The story is about a moose who has a giant moustache that just cannot be tamed. His moustache has gotten so out of hand the can no longer do the things he loves like dancing, cooking and skiing. He tries every possible solution to get his moustache out of his way, he tries making it into a moosescarf wrapping it around his neck, moosetachioed antlers, a moosetail, braids, nets, everything, but nothing seemed to work. It wasn’t until he accidentally bumped into a female moose with a beautiful head of hair that she was able to show him how to tame his giant moustache. Then they fell in love and did all the things moose could never do before like ski and cook and dance. The illustrations are so comical, showing the giant moustache getting in the way of Moose’s life and all the funny ways he tried to style it that never worked. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a good laugh.

An absolute laugh riot. The story is about a moose whose "moose"tache situation is quite out of control. All the silly ways the moose tries to fix brought out silly giggles from the tinies. It also presented an excellent opportunity to introduce plenty of descriptive words to their vocabulary. ( These words will be retained in their vocabulary only on repeated exposure but the toddlers are absolutely fascinated with descriptors! Try them, they are so much fun!! ) We talked about beards and moustache and facial hair. I took a short minute to say that everyone has facial hair, some less some more and they are absolutely okay. We recalled family members who have moustaches. We talked about antlers how the moose shed them in winter and regrow them in spring. There is a cute little love story at the end, which the toddlers didn't really feel interested in, they are probably too young at 3 to understand that. They did however understand that Miss Moose and Mister Moose has the same situation, and when she helps him with this hairy trouble, he appreciates it a lot All in all, we really enjoyed reading this book. Highly recommend!!

Moostache is a hilarious picture book filled with fun silly words, and, the best part of all, alliteration. I had so much fun reading this book even to myself because it did succeed in making me laugh. I loved the illustrations and how they would show all the brush strokes of moose’s moostache. I also liked how the text was also playfully placed and sometimes even in new fonts. I also loved how some of the illustrations came off of the page onto another, and were filled with very silly images. The story is about a moose who has a very hairy problem- his moostache. He spends the majority of the book trying to figure out a way to tame his very long moostache until he meets someone else with the same hair issue.

Moosetache had a lot of potential, but about halfway through, I lost interest because it was clearly turning into a children’s love story where a female moose appreciates his thatch. Why can’t we just have a story where the moose learns to love his hairy self?

Moral: Find a hairy female and you’ll live happily ever after no matter how long your moosetache is.

Length: The book could use a good shave.

Favorite Line: “It was so simple. So easy. So perfectly perfect.”

Overall impression: I may be splitting hairs, but Moose here deserved better. He’s lovable enough without the additional unnecessary love interest near the end. Had I been the author, he’d have grabbed a guitar and played with ZZ Top.

I absolutely loved this book, from the silly illustrations to the big words used to describe Moose's "moosetache". I think this a book any child could find interesting and humorous. I enjoyed the illustrations that stretched across both pages and were not always going up and down like a traditional book, sometimes Moose would be diagonal across the pages. The text stayed the same through the book until his "moosestache" became something different or if a word was used to describe it and if it was important then it would be bold and bigger, and those text went diagonal or zig-zag or looked like they were on a hill.

This is a fun book to read to children because they will think the long moostache is so funny. I think they will get a kick out of all the different ways the moose tries to get his mustache out of the way. I think something interesting about this book is the way the words appear on each page. The author uses bold, different fonts, wavy words, and different sizing and angles to create a more interesting way of reading while emphasizing certain parts of the story. I think teaching students how to incorporate things like this into their writing would be a fun lesson and get the children excited about writing.

This book is about a moose who has a mustache that gets in the way of everything he does! It is very silly and it ends with him finding a girl who can help him keep it out of the way.

This book is full of funniness and alliteration which are two things I like a lot! I remember reading this book as a child and I am glad I got to read it again for this assignment!!

I might use this in my classroom when talking about things that seem to constantly get in our way and how others can help us get through it!

Moosetache is a very humorous book. The topic of crazy hair is usually enjoyable for young children. It's repetitive story structure makes it amusing for children because they know that after he calls something "perfect" there will be an event that shows that it actually was not perfect. Additionally, the use of bold type for words with moose-puns make it obvious that it is a pun, thus enhancing the humor. The creative illustrations of a moose with an incredibly large mustache are also very enjoyable.

Imagine a moose with a mustache about 5 feet long on both sides. Then watch that moose try to ski, dance, cook, even just walk. Funny, right? Then imagine all sorts of ways that Moose might fix his dire situation and not anything so simple as just shaving it off. The laughs are sure to come from listeners/readers in PK-grade 2 and the smooth rhythm and rhyme will add to the fun. Teachers could follow with a variety of creative art and writing activities.

The delightful art in this book is detailed and whimsical. The story of a moose that is growing a mustache and the hair got quite out-of-hand. Next, he meets a beautician after he has tried everything to contain the hair (my favorite part) Now the two become a family. The photo collage at the end is hilarious. Enjoy

Moose had such a long hairy moustache that it was a big problem for him. There was no way that he could figure out to keep it back out of the way. And he tried many things. One day he met a lady moose whose hair was outrageous in length and curls, but she had found a way to make it manageable. Funny illustrations.

This book is a funny read. Moose's mustache gets in the way of everything. And I mean everything! He has a hard time doing anything without mustache being a problem, until he meets a girl moose who has a similar problem. She helps him find a way to tame that mustache.

This book was okay. There is a moose with a huge mustache, and he can't get it out of his face until he finally meets a female moose with long hair. I was really just hoping the hair was going to get chopped off, but no such luck. Kind of romantic, I guess.
