I found this book to be a little boring. The artwork was alright, the storyline was alright. Nothing really stood out to me in any kind of way, good or bad. A moose misses his family so he plans a trip to bring them all together, and when they are together on the trip they don’t actually spend any time together regardless of what he tries. Until a bunch of mooskitos come and they build a mustache tent and are forced to be together. I would have much preferred to see an activity bring them together and have the author show that they enjoyed themselves in the end.
This book is about a moose who misses his family, so he decides to plan a family reunion vacation. When they get there, they are all in their little groups and do not spend any time together. At night the moosekitos come out and attack them. Moose comes up with a plan and uses moostache glue and creates a big moosekito net. They were finally able to be all together at last. I love this book. It is so fun, and the pictures are exciting and interesting. In the classroom, I would use this book leading up to summer break. It shows togetherness and finding a solution to a problem.
I thought that this was an ok book. Nothing really stood out to me. I kinda felt bad for the moose and how he was treated in the beginning. I was also able to give the speech/lesson on how we should appreciate what people do for us. I would recommend this book to others.
Cute book about a moose family reunion. The book would be great to use for teaching characters, settings, events, problem/solution, character’s point of view, precise words/adjectives, and dialogue.
The moose with the enormously long "moosetache" returns in another adventure. This time, he organizes a family reunion. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned. Although Moose wants everyone to spend time together, the extended family members quickly separate to enjoy different pursuits. Only the invasion of a swarm of "blasted buggy biters" can unite the kinfolk as they huddle together in a "moosekito" net woven out of Moose's "moosetache." Cole's bright, pencil-and-acrylic illustrations are busy and full of humor, with words often printed on top of the art. The characters' faces are expressive and packed with personality. Enlarged, colored text in different fonts emphasizes key words. The puns are fun for confident readers, and work well when read aloud.
Audience/Age Level: K-6
Instructional Ideas: ElA: Use to learn onamonapia and alliteration.
Giraffe and Elephant looked bored in their pens, so I have given them the book reviews to do :)
Giraffe: Well I don't like being by myself either, so I thought a family reunion was a darn good idea. Getting all the family together, what a great idea. I often play the guitar myself sometimes, it was a nice little touch. That Moose is quite funky. My favourite part was Granny on the bike.
Elephant: What funny names of those places, Moosissippi. I so want to go there! I like the solution (but I won't give it away)I could do with one of those to get the flies off my back. It is an excellent read with fantastic illustrations. My favourite part was the moosetache.

Moose is missing his moose relatives, so he plans a family reunion at Moose Lodge for some good ol’ fashioned togetherness! Moose is thrilled and all is well until they arrive at Moose Lodge and nobody wants to spend time together. This makes Moose very sad. He tried everything he can think of to bring them back together. It takes some uncomfortable guests, mosquitos, bring the moose family together to solve their itchy problem.
Ideas for use: Students could plan their own family reunion, they could also create their own solution to the mosquito problem, Students could write about a camping trip or family outing they enjoyed
This book by Margie Palantini is an excellent book to share with early childhood students. Palantini writes about Moose who desperately missed his extended family. Wanting to be together again with all the moose he loves, Moose and his wife decide to plan a family reunion. Moose wants it to be perfect, with activities, campfire fun, and sports games. But things don't go just as Moose planned, his family isn't really being together. When things seem to get worse, a swarm of Moosekitos attacks the family and in desperation to stop the biting, the family finally comes together and devise a plan to stop the chaos.
Having read the other two Moosetache stories, I had to read this one as well, and I wasn't disappointed. I liked that she used 'perfectly perfect' again. This story of a family reunion vacation that doesn't go according to plan was both entertaining and cleverly written. I really loved the descriptions of the moose families traveling to the reunion. Tenting Moosetache's mustache to protect his family from the mosquitoes was a good way to incorporate the mustache into the plot. I liked it as much as Mooseltoe.
Poor Moose. He misses his extended moose family desperately and so a Moose Family Reunion is organized by non other than Moose himself. Alas, when the entire family is together they all go their separate ways, much to Moose's chagrin. Margie Palatini, the author, uses alliteration and rhyming to give Moose's tale a nice flow that children enjoy reading and hearing. There is humor and a funny and endearing ending about togetherness. Great illustrations full of color that coordinate well with the story. My 8 year old is a fan of all of the Moose books.
I choose this book because of it's cover, the shiny letters bought me. When I read it, I was kind of disappointed because I thought it would be better. This book is about a moose who misses seeing his family, he plans a family vacation. Once everyone was together Moose wanted to do something as a family, but everyone was splitting into groups to do their own thing. One night moosekitos attacked, Moose had a great idea to glue his moosestach around everyone to keep them away. This had the whole family together.
I thought this book was okay. I have read some Moose books before and they were cute, but this one was a bit lacking in my opinion. The moose misses his family and so he gets them all together for a family reunion; but nobody wants to be together. Then, a swarm of moosekitos come and the moose makes his mustache into a tent to cover his whole family, creating togetherness. I thought it could have been cuter, but it is a good way to talk about the importance of spending time with your family.
I found this book to be a little boring. I thought the being started great talking about Moose wanting to see family that he has not seen in a long time. What does he decide to do? Plan a family vacation reunion! however, the reunion does not go as planned. No one seem to participate in what he planned on doing-they do their own thing. By the end of the story, they are all as close as he wanted them to be. The moose were swarmed by mosquitos and using his mustache, he build a mosquitos net to protect them!
The clear fact that this moose has a mustache absolutely makes me laugh and made me want to choose this book to read. After reading Moosekitos I found it to be quite long and a little boring. The general plot many people including myself can relate, but it was hard to keep attention while reading. I did like that the author incorporated moose into locations like 'Moosissippi' and of course the title 'Mooskitos'.
This is a really fun and cute book. I think that it would be a good introductory book if you wanted to talk about solving problems or vacations or mosquitoes for that matter. There are a lot of directions that you could take the book. There is also fun illustrations and some interesting characters within it as well.
Moose is a very fun moose book. Moose is sad and wants to see his family. He plans a family reunion with his moose family. Some are from Moosissippi and some from Moosachusetts and then while at the reunion problems arise. Moosekitos come around. And Uncle Tex knows about moosekitos. He calls them "blasted buggy biters!" Read the book and find out what happens to Moose and his family.
Mooseketos is a clever little read-aloud book that early readers will adore. Moose arranges a family reunion, but each family member has ideas and interests of his own. It's the hilarious attack of mooseketos that makes all the family members pitch in together to make the world's biggest mooseketo net that brings everyone together and happy at last!
Longing for family togetherness, Moose plans a perfect moose family reunion only it doesn't turn out quite as he expects. The family has other plans and everyone goes their own way until a swarm of mosquitos brings them together under his newly made moosekito net tent. Cute picture book for kids with a longer attention span K-2.

When my in-laws plan a family reunion, their vision of a successful family gathering is just like Mr. Moose. All of us kids and grandkids, however think more in line with the rest of Moose's family, so I really liked this book. It's very clever.
My son loves this book! When we go to the library, he always asks to check this book out. He says that he likes how the family works together as a team building a "moosekitos net." From the parent's point of view, it is an enjoyable book to read aloud.
This book was a lot of fun. It is about a moose who organizes a family reunion but at the reunion everyone wants to do their own thing. But when the Mosquitos start biting, everyone teams together to come up with a solution to keep the bugs away.
Poor Moose just wants some quality family time! at the family reunion all everyone wants to do it split up and do their own thing - that is until the mooskitos attack and the family is brought together by a bond again the mooskitos! Fun book!
A story of a moose (with a ridiculously long mustache) who wants to get all his family together for a reunion. He succeeds, but his plans for family togetherness don't quite come together until they are all attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes.
