***NOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Rose is a 130 year old vampire who’s just been called upon by her council to kill a rogue werewolf. She thinks it will be an open and shut case leaving her free from the council’s drama for the rest of eternity. What she doesn’t plan on is a spunky young fire witch, an overzealous FBI agent and her maker all showing up and adding drama to her quiet little world. She may be hunting the werewolf, but someone out there is setting her up for crimes she didn’t commit in the process. Will she get to the bottom of it before she finds herself frying in a jail somewhere?

Silver Moon is a quick and enjoyable paranormal tale. It’s not really a scary story, nor is it a romance. Basically I’d called it paranormal fiction if that’s a genre. Genres are one of those things about books and writing I’ve never been that interested in. To me there’s interesting and not interesting, those are the only things I really need to know about a book.

There were really only three things I didn’t like about this book. The first is a taste thing, I like nice lengthy novels with lots of plot twists and details so for me a novella just isn’t long enough so I really would have like to have seen more bulk to the story. Two the final scene switches from the consistent first person point of view to a third person point of view scene. I prefer books to maintain the same point of view throughout the work. Finally she brings in a rather large cast of characters for a short novel so that we don’t get the chance to really get to know them all.

The book is very fast paced and well written. For the most part it’s a first person point of view from Rose’s eyes. It flows smoothly and has a good share of surprising plot twists and interesting characters. You’re quickly immersed in a world of vampires, werewolves and witches, however because it’s a novella though it’s mentioned that there’s a lot going on politically in the world of the supernatural it’s not really gone into too much because of the length of the novel. The book took me about twenty minutes to read so if you’re looking for a quick fun read this would be a great choice for reading.

Rose’s character was easy to relate to regardless of her disregard for humans. You’re invited in to some of her past and as well as her present predicament. This character has a lot of interesting interactions that I would be curious to know more about however again do to the length we get snippet but not a ton of detail about the past and present. Rose is the most well developed character, however Geer also creates some interesting secondary characters including Bobbie a 21 year old witch and Jerry an attractive werewolf. Both of these characters were slightly fleshed out, but not really completely again due to the length of the novel.

Geer presents us with an intriguing world and I’ll admit I felt frustrated because I wanted to know more about the world and the characters within that world. Hopefully this is just the beginning with more novels to come, but I’m not really certain about that.

Overall I’d definitely recommend the novella to readers who enjoy paranormal literature and shorter works of fiction.

Title Thoughts: It describes what the characters are trying to do perfectly.

Cover Thoughts: I really like this cover. She's biting him and digging into his skin. It really fits.

WARNINGS: There is a minor sex scene.

Rose is exactly like the synopsis says. A bitchy sarcastic vampire who just wants to be left alone. She doesn't like to follow rules. She likes to be able to do whatever she wants to do, which she usually does. Rose doesn't care for humans or most of the other supernaturals out there. Needless to say, I really liked Rose.

Turns out, I'm really starting to like novellas. In the past, I didn't care for anything less than 150 pages much less something a less as 20 pages. But novellas like Silver Moon have caused me to change my way of thinking and reading. I like how we start the story, we get to know the characters, we follow them on their adventures, and we are given just enough to lose ourselves in the story.

Addict's Last Words: Silver Moon is a quick read with a snarky vampire, a werewolf that is quite full of himself, a witch who is pretty cool with a action packed adventure in 37 pages.

To Buy or To Borrow: I think it would be worth buying it for when you are looking for something quick and good.

I enjoyed this short read. It easily held my attention all the way through. At times, I thought Rose was just a bit too brash, but then she would say or do something that would just melt my hard-heart into a gooey puddle. She also is funny, in a snarky kind of way. I like that she thumbs her nose at her ostensible superiors, often showing them up as highfalutin, know-it-alls who actually are somewhat out of touch with reality.

Throughout the book, there is sort of skirmish going on between the politically correct group, who admonish Rose to conform more to their standards and Rose, who seems honestly not to give a rat’s patootie about kowtowing to their demands. She is enlisted in helping them solve a tricky problem; determined to resolve the issue in her own unique way.

Rose is a quirky, not always particularly likeable heroine, who I am eager to follow along with on her next adventure. Stacey is an author who knows how to create a story that entertains by creating a world similar to our familiar one but darker and much more dangerous. Then she adds characters that inspire loyalty in spite of their flaws; in my opinion, it is a winning combination.

This book was provided to me by the author, through Bewitching Book Tours, in return for my honest review.

Today's review is on the novella Silver Moon by Stacey Thompson-Geer

Silver Moon is just one of the few novella's that I have read, and the second manuscript from Thompson-Geer. The first of which I found very difficult to read due the abundance of spelling and grammatical errors.

Though in Silver Moon there were much less mistakes, I still recommend Ms. Thompson-Geer seriously consider looking into obtaining a second editor. The story however was by far more enjoyable than I expected, and I would have liked to see it as a stand alone novel.

With so many books being written today about vampires, werewolves, and witches, it is not easy to come up with an interesting storyline or unique character's, but Silver Moon does pretty well. I saw a little of Anita Blake, Cassie Palmer, and Rachel Morgan, as well as their male counterparts, which, for me at least was just fine.

Rose finds herself in front of the vampire council. Though she herself could due without the council, she takes a "job" to help capture a rogue were. She is aided by Bobbie; a witch, and another werewolf.

There is sexual tension, betrayal, and love. Silver Moon is a definite must read in my book. Just look past the errors.

3.5 instead of 4 of 5 stars due to the editing.

I received this e-book for review from Bewitching Book Tours as part of the author's virtual book tour. I did not receive any compensation for my review, and the views expressed herein are my own.

A book with both vampires AND werewolves? What could be better? The book cover of the female vampire biting into the male is very eye-catching and appealing. The book trailer is equally appealing. I should have loved this book...I wanted to love this book...but there are two reasons primarily why this didn't happen and both can be remedied.

I actually think the plot of the story is pretty good: A vampire is hired to hunt down a werewolf. I think that the book could potentially be very good with more character development which, perhaps, could be achieved by extending the length of the novella. It is fun to enjoy a bad-ass protagonist like Rose, but I think she could be even better! I particularly liked the character of Bobbie, the fire witch.

Unfortunately, the review copy that I was given is fraught with grammatical and spelling errors, which made it difficult to read and interfered with my enjoyment of the book.

With a good editor and more character depth, the book could be improved.

MY RATING: 1 star

Rose is a vampire that would like nothing more than to be left alone. But she has been called to a Vampire Counsel meeting. Although a werewolf pack is very strict about who can get changed, someone in Las Vegas skipped that ritual and was turned. This person is basically a serial killer that is now using his new powers to kill more people. Rose is asked to go to Las Vegas and take care of the situation.

Rose used to live in the Las Vegas area and was turned there. After her first run in with the rogue werewolf, Alex, she is taken to St. Thomas where she meets a witch that wants to help take down Alex for the reward and her maker Steven. Steven is trying to get Rose to come back to him. After Rose then learns that Steven and Alex have joined up to oppose the Vampire Counsels rules, she knows she is getting in deep and is going to have to call for backup.

I really liked this story. It is a short story, 36 pages, and I think that it seemed a little rushed because of that. I feel that there is lots of room to grow with and I hope that a novel is in the works.

I received this story from Roxanne at Bewitching Book Tours for review.

The first thing I have to say is I was surprised to learn that it was a vampire book as the title suggested to me it would be a wolf book.

The lead character was very well formed and easy to relate to, even though she was a vampire. In this short story she is trying to find a new were that will become a full werewolf on his first silver moon, hence the title. There are many different characters in this story and I liked the divide between the wolves and the vampires. The main twist is a little shocking as it was unexpected.

I feel that there would be a lot more that could be done with this story and it could be further expanded out to become a lengthier novella or even a full blown novel. However I think that novella’s are great for new authors as it gives an idea to what a full length novel would be like. I really enjoyed the book and on this basis I am looking forward to reading a full length novel by Stacey.

I would give Silver Moon (Moon Series) 3.5/5

I recently won this book off of a giveaway so I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. I would've enjoyed this book a lot more if it wasn't for the copious amounts of fragmented sentences, not to mention how each sentence felt as if they were rubber-banded together. There's definitely potential, however I feel that the author should take a little more time strengthening the characterization and working a little more on plot formation.

A quick, but entertaining story. I really enjoyed the world the author built, and thought Rose was a great character. She wasn't someone that is very likeable, but she was intriguing.

The story had a couple of interesting twists and didn't end how I thought it might. I liked the other characters and would be very interested to read more about them too.

I was disappointed with the spelling and grammatical mistakes though. It took away from a good story.
