Yvonne Perry is a celestial shaman who uses her gift to help others embody higher self/Source love. An author, teacher, and light code activator, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Metaphysic from the American Institute of Holistic Theology.
I've long felt the mixed blessings of being empath and like many empaths, have lived a life being misunderstood and subjected to criticism for being "too emotional" or "too highly-strung". I felt like an emotional sponge fit to explode while working in the corporate world, soaking up the atmosphere despite my best endeavours at protecting myself.
When I heard that a lady who I much admire (Yvonne Perry) had written a new book on empaths, it was on my list of must-reads immediately! It was a huge relief to read through Yvonne's wonderful book "Whose Stuff Is This?", nodding vigorously and shedding a few tears as she bravely shared her story. My heart expanded as I read through the many stories Yvonne sprinkles liberally throughout Whose Stuff Is This? and it was just SO nice to realise that being an empath is a true gift and there ARE ways to use this amazing natural ability for good effect without being a risk to our own emotional and mental wellbeing.
I loved reading the chapter on the Psychology of an Empath, with the Core Temperaments being truly insightful. I spent quite some time reflecting on my own personal journey in terms of nurturing peace and balance whilst reading this chapter (7).
Chapters 8 to 10 should be required reading for any practitioner, therapist, coach, spiritual healer and counsellor - especially at the time of training! Identifying Your Own Energy, Clearing Your Energy Field and Setting Boundaries really dinged a few bells that could so easily have been dealt with all those years ago while I studied as a holistic massage therapist and spiritual healer! It is only now that I can truly understand and explore the gifts that forgiveness and detachment offer empaths and I am so grateful to Yvonne for sharing so much wisdom in such an easy-to-read format.
This is a book I will return to time and time again - and will wholeheartedly encourage people to read, too. At this time in our evolution, empaths need to be firing on all cylinders, free to use their gifts yet able to protect their energies and their sanity.
For now, I'm going to meditate on this wonderful affirmation from Yvonne's affirmation gems in the book: "I am abundantly blessed and happy as I express the beauty and creativity of my heart."
A re-read from years past as recently been encumbered by others emotions. “Whose Stuff is This? Finding Freedom from Thoughts,Feelings,Energy of Those Around You” is full of nuggets of suggestion.
Author Yvonne Perry weaves her personal story throughout the book, along with shares of the lives of other empathy. Some reviews discount this, but it ironically is needed to understand the levels of the “blessing and curse” senses and reflect how people cope with it.
Clearing your energy field and setting boundaries encompass two action directed chapters that are critical to those who absorb the energy around them.
Empathy is a good thing, but it can also be paralyzing. Best to understand it as tool, and learn to master it for best use. Perry provides a starter class in understanding with this book.

Whose Stuff Is This? Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You is a guidebook for empathic people who have been unknowingly carrying energetic burdens that belong to someone else.
This book, written by Yvonne Perry with Dr. Caron B. Goode, provides . . .

This book helped me realize that either A. I'm not crazy with the energy drains and physical pains I have; or B. There are other people in the world with the same crazy as me.
I had no idea what was going on with me until a cousin suggested I might be empathic. This book did a great job of explaining it (and I can relate to most of the "characteristics of an untrained empath"). The simple techniques of blocking my energy have helped for the couple of days that I tried them. There's also a pretty comprehensive list of resources at the end of the book.
Recommended to anyone who feels energy drains around people, or feel the actual physical pain of others. You're not crazy! Just energy sensitive. :)
I did not give this five stars, because it wasn't really well-written, and it could have been fleshed out more in some areas. However, it is a great book for those of us who are overwhelmed by the emotions of others. Do you find yourself getting "slimed" by someone's energy without even realizing it's happening? I think the best takeaway here is the lesson on how to recognize your own energy, and recognize when what you are feeling is coming from someone else. You can learn to protect yourself from the harmful energy of others. It's a lot easier to make progress with your own emotions and spiritual journey when you recognize the "stuff" that isn't even yours.
Whose Stuff Is This? Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You is available on Amazon.com. The e-book version is now available for Kindle, iPhone, iPad, and other digital reading devices.
Quite a lot of detail of the writers history etc. It was a good book but it didn't deliver on what I wanted whether that is down to the book or me I don't know but I am certainly not free from the feelings of others.
Couldn't finish this book. I was hoping this would provide some suggestions and support regarding being an empath and sensitive to others' moods, but it was way too New Age-y for me. I'm going to try Elaine Aaron's "Highly Sensitive" book next.
