PLANTATION deals with a rich and racist plantation owner awaiting the birth of his first son who proves to be black. The startling revelations that follow lead to blackmail, mayhem and sudden death, all wildly antic. (3 men, 2 women.) SHOES is a subtle and telling character study of three black boys and their flamboyant plans for spending the money they have earned during summer employment at a Texas country club. (5 men, or 2 men, 3 boys.) In CONTRIBUTION, a black grandmother sends her nervous grandson off to join a sit-in. At first it appears that she is a "good darkie," who stays aloof from such demonstrations but the hilarious, and arresting, climax of the play reveals that she has her own method of helping in the struggle for her people's rights. (1 man, 2 women.)
