"Naked Testimonies," first published in 1995 and reprinted in 2006, established the name of its author in Nigeria. It won an honourable mention in the Association of Nigerian Authors poetry awards that year, and its reputation remains as high as ever today. As well as "Naked Testimonies," Toyin Adewale-Gabriel is the author of "Die Aromaforscherin" and "Flackernde Kerzen." She is the editor of "25 New Nigerian Poets" and co-editor of "Inkwells" and "Breaking The Silence." She is a Fellow of the Akademie Schloss Solitude and has been Writer in Residence at the Villa Waldberta, Munich and The Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators, Visby, Sweden. She holds an MA degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and has published poems, stories and book reviews in many journals and newspapers. She has served in an executive capacity on the board of the Association of Nigerian Authors, whose official annual journal, "ANA Review," she also edited. Toyin is renowned for her readings of both poems and stories to audiences in Africa, Europe and North and South America. She founded the Women Writers of Nigeria, WRITA, in 1991.

Toyin Adewale-Gabriel (born in 1969) is a Nigerian writer.

Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, she received her MA Lit degree from Obafemi Awolowo University. She has worked as a literary critic for many Nigerian newspapers, among them The Guardian, Post Express and The Daily Times. She was co-founder and co-ordinator for several years of the Association of Writers of Nigeria. Her works include: Naked Testimonies, 1995; Breaking The Silence, 1996; Inkwells, 1997; Die Aromaforscherin, 1998; Flackernde Kerzen, 1999; 25 New Nigerian Poets, 2000; Aci Cikolata, Gunizi Yayincilik, 2003; and Nigerian Women Short Stories, 2005. She has also won awards for poetry and short fiction

evdeki eski kutulardan birinin içinde buldum, yirmi sene önce basılmış ve artık basılmaya devam etmeyen bir kitap. nijerya'daki kadınların hikayelerini anlatan sürükleyici bir öykü kitabı. dünyanın her yerinde başta cinsiyetimizden ama aynı zamanda eğitimsizlik ve maddi durumlarından kaynaklanan halkalarla zincirlenmiş her kadın için üzülüyorum. bu arada kitabın çevirisi çok kötü, öyle ki insan merak ediyor çevirmenleri ingilizce bilmeden nasıl çevirmiş bu kitabı diye ama çevirmiş işte. yine de başka türlü denk gelip okuyamayacağım ve tanışamayacağım bu hikayelerle buluşabilmiş olmaktan memnunum.
