Who knew the man who claimed to be Neen's long-lost uncle was a big drug lord? Nobody told her what he did for a living. She didn't find out until the night of the raid, when Uncle Julio's men tried to shoot her. She got away, but she's been on the run for the past three years, staying one step ahead of the killers. Former DEA agent Adam Gregory tried to get Neen out before the raid, but he was stabbed in the back by one of his own people. Greg is desperate to find the dirty agent who stabbed him and protect Neen from the killers. He finally finds her in the cemetery, visiting her mother's grave, but the killers have spotted her, too. Greg takes Neen on a wild ride across the country, protecting her from the killers, but not from his love. She tries to keep her distance, but the macho dude cop is hard to resist, and he's determined to make her love him again.
I'm a grumpy old lady who lives with an even grumpier old man in a small town in Washington state. I have three grown children, all smarter and more successful than their mother, and one adorable grandson. My favorite kid!
I write mostly romantic suspense, women's fiction, and light paranormal romance novels. Although my plots get kind of involved and sometimes twisted at the end, I don't plot my books out before I start writing. I create characters, throw them into a situation, and let them lead the way. I'd like to think my characters are unique, yet familiar, people you'd like to get to know. People you can root for. People you'll remember after you finish reading the book.
I hope you enjoy reading my books. Please feel free to leave a comment or review.
This was my first book by Sue Fineman. The fact that my hometown is Tulsa, Oklahoma - one of the settings for a portion of this book - and that I'm a romantic suspense addict hooked me into reading the story immediately.
It was a delightful surprise. This is a solid story of suspense, balanced with a believable romance between the two strong and intelligent leads. A very good secondary cast made up of family and friends add extra punches to the story and, hopefully, will be revisited in the next book in the series. Top it off with a wonderful and complete happily ever after and you've got yourself a book worthy of reading on a Sunday afternoon. I'm looking forward to reading Book #2 in the "Gregory" series.
Imagine this: You're standing in a French bakery looking for the best pastry to match your nice cup of Earl Grey tea. After browsing the selection, you finally find one that looks absolutely delicious offered at a fantastic price. You find a nice place to sit down and relax but as soon as you take a big, hearty bite out of the pastry, you discover that the delicious looking pastry tastes absolutely awful. This book was absolutely awful. I find it offensive how the author treats the reader as if they can't remember something 10 pages back, I personally don't need a reminder after every chapter as to WHY Greg is with Neen and what Neen is running from.
Don't get me wrong, this book has potential to be a great book even if it was a free eBook. However, with the author treating the reader as if they're idiots, I could not continue reading after reaching the 50% mark.
Before I started this book I looked at all the good reviews on here. I wish someone would tell me this: Did we even read the same book? OMG! I didn't think I would ever get through this. SO long! By the time I got midway through I had almost forgotten what the whole point of the story was. Greg was a bumbling idiot, IMO. Some law man. Neen seemed to know more than he did when it came taking care of business. And Neen............. yes, she was smart enough to stay hidden for 3 years. Go her. But she was just as bad as Greg. I loved Dave and I loved Bo and the rest of Greg's family. Not enough to waste my time reading any of the other books in this series.
I won't go into all the reasons that I hated this book. Obviously others liked it or I wouldn't have read it to begin with.
I'm glad it was a freebie or I would be angry that I paid for it.
ON THE RUN is riveting. I read this book quickly because I couldn't put it down. Neen has been on the run for three years. Although scared, she's smart and resourceful and has managed to stay one step ahead of the bad guys. Greg is a warrior, racked by guilt because he couldn't help Neen three years ago. Determined to help her now, and win back her love, he goes on the run with her as they try to untangle the mystery of why a major drug dealer wants Neen dead. This story has so many twists and turns and surprises, it kept me turning the pages. And it's a great love story, very sexy, but very heartwarming as Neen learns to let go and let herself love Greg and accept his love. The ending is very satisfying. I can't wait to read more of the Gregory series from Ms. Fineman.
Neen Summers is on the run from a notorious drug lord who claims to be her uncle and who killed her mother – or at least the woman she thought was her mother. And now he wants Neen dead. The problem is, she has no clue as to why. Adam Gregory (Greg) is a former DEA agent, now working for the FBI, who let her down once and vows to keep her safe this time.
Neen is a quick-witted, resourceful character who refuses to take crap from anyone. Greg is a macho cop who prefers to be in charge, but who occasionally steps back when he recognizes a more adept partner. They are both good characters, though the constant bickering between them gets a little old. Fight, make love, fight, make love, etc.
Full of action, adventure, romance, betrayal and loyalty, this is a short, fun read. It’s a standard category romantic suspense meaning that we know Neen and Greg are going to end up together in a happily ever after ending, but it’s the getting there that makes the story. It is a decent enough story. What isn’t so decent were the multiple times when other people showed up in scenes where only Greg and Neen were. It got quite confusing to have the two of them talking or searching for something, then someone else (usually Dave) is suddenly there without him having arrived. There were other small anomalies that kept this from being a great read for me. In addition, reminding me every few pages why Neen and Greg couldn’t be together go old fast, especially when they kept going to bed together. I also was a little confused as to why Neen was being chased. I’m not sure that was ever concretely revealed, unless it was just for the money.
So, bottom line, if you like a quick romantic suspense with a happily ever after ending and not much else, this is a good one. But if you’re looking for a deeper read with more power, go elsewhere.
"On The Run" was an average story line. I liked it even though it was like a thouseand other stories. The only part I found to be annoying about the author's writing style was the fact that she repeats herself at least 5 different times on the same issue. Greg (FBI/DEA agent) was stabbed 3 years prior & Sue Fineman goes into detail about the event only she tells you in the 1st 2 chapters & then she brings it up again about 4 times. You don't have to give us the details again, we got it. Neen (main female character) was insecure but I think that the author likes the females this way. I read a sample from book #2 "On The Lam" & it looks to be the same type of female character. I liked the relationships that Neen made with Dave & Greg's friends as well as family. I feel like it was missing something though. I am not sure I can pinpoint it. It does not matter I did download book #2 "On The Lam" to give it a try & see where I end up. Hopefully I will like it a little more & move on to the next 2 remaining in the series.
This was a nice start to a new romantic/suspense/mystery series. I really liked the main characters and Greg has so many siblings and friends I can see this series going on for a long time.
What I enjoyed: * Neen. She somehow survived being on the run for 3 years by herself, but was still willing to trust Greg. * Greg. He let Neen lead when it was best, but still looked out for her in other ways. * Bo, Dave and the rest of the supporting cast. They had a nice camaraderie. I'm looking forward to seeing whose book is next.
What could have been better: * The final showdown kind of ended with a whimper instead of a bang. * * Not really this book, but Greg was acting like a jerk in the sneak peek of the next book and that was disturbing.
On the run has an ok story line with some good leads which make it intriguing BUT.....it does get a little confusing with all different characters popping up and some from the beginning of the book are then in the end which weren't memorable so you forget about them. The book is also very repetitive with things being told four different times throughout the book unnecessarily. The whole does he love me or is it just work becomes a bit bla bla bla after a while. I would consider reading the other books in the series but I will be considering other people's reviews on them to see if they have the same kind of repetitiveness in them.
the first of 4 in this closed series, and since only the first was free, guess i'll be shelling out more money for the remaining 3! the heroine is a woman who finds out that her entire life has been a lie, and the hero is the man who loved her but used her, lost her, and in finding her again has to work to regain her trust and love. lots of action, which i love, and the deaths are not gruesome as some can be portrayed!
Freebie !!! I really enjoyed this book even though it's not my normal read and I read it over night, really enjoyed the adventure and the chase, loved the main (kick butt)charactors Neen & Greg, enjoyed the who done it !!! and loved the out come. It was definately worth a read. Will be reading the next book as soon as I can buy it.....
This was offered as one of Amazon's free titles for the Kindle so I was not expecting much giving that many of the free titles are not that good. I was utterly amazed at how good this book was. I liked it enough to purchase the other three books in this series from Amazon. The prices for the other three were around $3 and are of the same quality.
I'm surprised with all the glowing reviews on amazon and goodreads. It's an average book. The writing is average. It's really not all that suspenseful ... it's kind of predictable.
It is a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the characters and may even pick up some other books.
This book had a great action back story. Adam and his whole family a pretty tough even mom. And Neen has done a lot to keep herself alive since she last saw Adam. Despite running for their lives they are able to talk about the past and reconnect.
It was a good read.Fast paced witty at times, suspenseful at other times and you kind of got the sense that the main characters were going to end up together at some point and hopefully they'd make it to the end.
On the Run was a fun, fast, and entertaining story. It could do with better editing and any work can be made better. I really want to read the rest of the series. The characters are lovable and easy to relate to, especially the men.
Loved this story. I got it as a free read and bought the rest of the series. Fineman knows how to combine a great mystery and a great love story in a fun read.
