With his shattered elbow, a reminder of the war in Iraq, Bo Gregory has enough on his hands without getting involved in someone else's problems. He doesn't need a battered wife and her kid living over the bar, especially when he and his brother are trying to renovate the building. Callie Caldwell left her abusive husband, the big, bad sheriff of Caledonia County, Texas, and filed for divorce, but the sheriff has stolen her ranch and tricked a judge into giving him custody of her son. Broke and scared, she desperately needs Bo's help. Bo wants to know why the sheriff wants Callie's ranch so much he'd force her to stay in a loveless marriage. Unable to fight his growing love for Callie and her little boy, Bo searches for answers.

I'm a grumpy old lady who lives with an even grumpier old man in a small town in Washington state. I have three grown children, all smarter and more successful than their mother, and one adorable grandson. My favorite kid!

I write mostly romantic suspense, women's fiction, and light paranormal romance novels. Although my plots get kind of involved and sometimes twisted at the end, I don't plot my books out before I start writing. I create characters, throw them into a situation, and let them lead the way. I'd like to think my characters are unique, yet familiar, people you'd like to get to know. People you can root for. People you'll remember after you finish reading the book.

I hope you enjoy reading my books. Please feel free to leave a comment or review.

I had mixed feelings on this book. It was exciting and engrossing, but the tone was so matter of fact - it seemed too much like the author was telling what happened rather than letting the reading feel it Since there were a lot of emotions and action, I was disappointed to feel kind of disconnected as the reader. On the other hand I thought it was well paced and plotted and I liked the twists and turns, although the bit about the ingots was confusing.

Mixed feelings about the characters too - I liked Bo a lot. Other characters kept saying he was having trouble adjusting but he actually seemed pretty solid to me throughout and he had legitimate concerns about his brother not helping with their business. Callie was competent and I liked how she showed a lot of growth. It made sense that it would take time to put together what exactly had happened to her through the machinations of others. But I have to admit I found her annoying at times. The villain was pretty nasty - it worked well in the plot. Minor characters were quite under developed - Randy, Skeeter, and also the children.

All in all I liked enough to finish it, but probably not enough to try other books in the series.

I love the Gregory series. I read the first book and couldn't wait to read more about the Gregory family. On the Lam didn't disappoint. Callie Caldwell is a strong heroine. Despite what she's been through with her abusive husband, she fights back. Bo is a warrior, an Iraq war vet who thinks because his arm was injured in the war, he's not a full man. Oh, is he wrong! He's sexy and caring and puts his life on the line for Callie and her son. I couldn't put this book down because of the action and suspense, and just when I thought things were resolved, Sue Fineman threw something new in the mix and I had to keep reading.

I feel that this was better than Book #1 "On The Run". Only because the author did not repeat herself as much. I like Callie & the abuse she had to live with for 8 long years is just sad. You makes you understand her survivor instinct to protect herself & her son Brady (with whom I fell in love). You understand Bo more & after all the self pity is overwith you start to love him. I did not bother with Book #3 "On The Hunt). I assume one day I will come back & finsih this series since there are only 2 more books but I am not that thrilled with the author's style.

So good

This author is one of my favorites. I continue to reread her series because the way she writes draws me back. I can only go so long before I need to go back into their worlds.
