This was a great read. It had a bit of mystery, and love thrown in as well. The back story of Jode and Stephen was sooooo good and interesting. It really made this book a complete page turner. The ending was very unexpected. I am really enjoying this authors writing style. Her books never have a dull moment, and keep me interested. Sylvia Hubbard is quickly becoming one of my favs.

A mystery.

There is nothing sweet about coming home to Detroit, after being away for so long when you have to attend your best friend’s funeral after an apparent suicide. Jode Price is doubtful that her friend Kasey took her own life, so much so that she begins to probe into the details surrounding Kasey’s death. Memories from the past start to surface as Jode’s feeling that the suicide may in fact be a murder heightens, but unfortunately all involved want to keep the past closed, especially Stephen, Kasey’s brother.

An interesting mystery where at first I didn’t understand the past relationship between Jode and Stephen. I wasn’t sure if the author was trying to portray an almost shy but guilty teenaged boy or a molester. Some editing issues were present, but I liked the story and the characters.
